Bad Customer Service and No Refunds
I booked tickets from AirMalta twice and customer care is always terrible. I do not blame the agents but the company itself for never knowing how to fix issues. I didn't complain last time because after several calls we somehow managed but this time it is inexcusable.
My flight was cancelled July 2020, I applied for a refund and did not receive any confirmation emails even when I emailed to check. I had to apply again a month later and finally got vouchers that claimed to be refunded as money if not used within a year. A year has passed and I asked for my money back and was promised that the process would be complete in 60 days. It has been 90 days now and still no refund and when you call they tell you to email instead so that they can copy and paste the same generic reply "thanking me for my patience" that they must send everyone that is surely complaining. You should have set a proper procedure in place by now and clients should not pay for your negligence.
Great experience
Excellent plane, looked brand new, polite staff, surprisingly delicious food and lots of it too.
No frills masquerading as a 'real airline'.
Air Malta flies A320 aircraft. That is the only modern thing about it. The rest is stuck in the dark ages. Very basic seats ,no sockets, no entertainment. Cabin service almost non existent. After 2 hours they had not reached our row and we were not at the back. You might get a 'cup of tea' just before the end of the flight. This a paper cup of 'hot' water and a tea bag for 3.5 Eurs. Don't bother-the name says it all.
Shocking airline WORST EVER
Shocking airline. Booked a ticket on their website, check my bank account - money gone in 3 min. No confirmation in the email. Rang super expensive customer line , I was told I need to wait longer for confirmation. Finally arrived. Trying to add more baggage 2 weeks before fly out date, my booking reverence is not valid. On the expensive phone line again, told to check if I paid!! I check my bank account - payment went as per original date. On the phone line again (2e per min) 10 min waiting time..... I was told there is problem with my booking and somebody will ring me back. No phone call back for a week. One week to departure I ring again the line. Lady said that my flight was cancelled but is back on again that was the problem- they didnt bother email me about that. Still unable to check in awaiting another phone call back - never happened. Ringing the line again- told not too worry I be fine once I get to the airport to check in person. Guess what- arrived too many hours early at the airport , lady dressed in airMalta uniform told me she is closed and cannot help me until check in time. After firm conversation she checks my booking - and not found. She told me to step to the side as I am blocking the other passengers from checking in and she cannot do anything for me as my booking is not found! She suggest I can ring the expensive air Malta phone line again( this is Sunday morning.) After one hour some airMalta representative arrived and tell us to give credit card details and buy my flight again if I want to fly.! Desperate to fly I do so and receive my ticket I paid for twice! Air malta admits that there was 2 payments made for my name and advice that they will refund me the first payment! Shocking service, no one email of communications, treating me like an idiot- keep asking to ring the line, check my bank account if I paid again ect. NEVER AGAIN . WORST AIRLINE EXPERIENCE. If I would not have arrive at airport 4 hours early, have extra funds on my credit card and argue with their staff I would not fly ! CRAZY
Quarantined
I was flying to Malta with an international vaccination QR code. I had one vaccination because I had covid within the 6 months that I had the vaccine, as determined by Dutch governemt. At the check-in, Air Malta checked the certificatie. All good. When landed in Malta, authoritis checked again and I was directly separated from my partner, as my certificate was not valid in Malta. I was quarantined at the airport and after I had booked a flight back for the day after, I was escorted together with other passengers with the same issue, to a terrible hotel. There I had to pay 100 Euro for the night and was locked in my room. I blame myself for not checking the Maltese governmental website, I blame the Dutch government for allowing me to get only on vacccine but I blame air Malta the most for not warning CUSTOMERS at the airport.
I cancelled a flight in May and was…
I cancelled a flight in May and was promised a refund. I have made at least 20 phone calls, similar amount of emails.
I received email saying they would send vouchers, vouchers never received. Then get email saying refund would be given within 60 days, one minute later get email saying ignore last email. They are now saying vouchers have been used. Certainly not by me.No idea what is going on. Never known such incompetence.
green pass
I was asked to show the green pass at the check in counter. She told me that I could not leave because my green pass was not valid. She said it didn't show the name. I showed the name on the green pass. She said I had to show the original vaccine certification. I showed it. She said it was not valid. Another clerk intervened and said it was all fine. Please train your staff. I lost 20 minutes in a fake discussion at the check in counter
Worst customer service experience ever
Worst customer service experience I've ever had in my life. Had to cancel a flight, to cancel it I had to call them 7 times before anyone even cared to pick up the phone - I get through to a representative who seemed fine, we initiated the refund and she told me 40 work days. I was already weirded out by how ridiculous this sounded, but decided to take their word for it. I had heard nothing from them, no confirmation email, nothing. So I wrote to them 4 times over email and got no replies. I decided after 40 workdays without my refund - to call them. I got a hold of someone there and tried to ask about my refund, she told me the other representative was wrong and it was 60 days not 40. I mentioned over the phone they hadn't responded to a single email - they then decide to half ass an email 3 days later saying "It's actually 65 work days".
If you can avoid AirMalta, do it by any means - this company is an absolute joke and I genuinely hope they run out of business.
Poor customer service
Poor customer service and heartless Covid policy. Air Malta enforces a strict one year validity date for their tickets. We could not travel because the Maltese government (main shareholder of Air Malta) does not follow international and European health recommendations as to the vaccination scheme of people who got COVID and recovered. They want these people to get 2 doses of RNAm vaccines, which is of course their right. Since no one knows when this policy is likely to change, their airline should have a consistent policy and allow people who are deemed to be fully vaccinated for other European countries (with just one dose because they had Covid) to be refunded or change their tickets beyond the one year validity date.
Discrimination on the basis of…
Discrimination on the basis of nationality
I was denied boarding on an Air Malta flight because they overbooked the flight. By European Commission law I was supposed to get compensation for this boarding denial and reimbursed for my hotel and travel expenses to take another flight. I was travelling with a friend who is a EU citizen. Air Malta processed and compensated my friend who is a EU national immediately but have been stalling my case for 2.5 years now. As there was no material difference in the circumstances of myself and my friend that day (same flight denied, same taxi fare, same hotel stay, same food, same amount of compensation), I am led to believe that this is the airlines practicing discrimination between passengers on the basis of nationality. I would advise anyone who is a not a EU citizen to completely avoid this inherently discriminatory airline.
Air Malta stole my money
I asked for a refund using Air Malta's own service when my flights were cancelled in 2020 due to covid. Air Malta didn't even respond so I settled for the option of vouchers since I could not rebook another flight within the 1-year period offered. When I tried to use the vouchers they said they were out of date, but no expiry date was even given. I spent hours on the phone (Maltese number only so international rates) with their so-called customer service and despite hearing many reassurances (aka lies) nothing was done and I expect they will now keep (aka steal) my money (over £320). Avoid using Air Malta if you can, they simply are not an honest company.
Non-existent customer service
Non-existent customer service.
I sent them two e-mails, a Tweet and hung on the phone for over 30 minutes.
No reply at all.
Would not use them again, although the flight was perfectly adequate.
Shocking how they treat a child travelling
I can not express how high is my dissatisfaction with Air Malta.
Before booking with Air Malta I called to make sure that it is possible to add unaccompanied Minor to the flight.
After i booked they told me it is not possible.
I have spent 10 phone calls and many emails to resolve this matter and it is shocking how little this airline and its staff cared in finding a solution on bringing my daughter from place a to b.
I had to book with another airline a flight to make sure she arrives safe and until now Air malta does not want to reimburse me.
It is shocking how little this airline cared on finding a solution.
Rampant incompetence, poor service and lousy attitude
I was supposed to go to Malta on the 2nd of July but had to cancel due to the Airline not accepting the NHS pass at the time. Phoned and requested a refund and was told that it would take 35 days to process. I did also get a reply from a previous email sent to them 5-weeks later. Total and utter incompetence and a system not fit for the 21st century. No UK based contact and pathetic customer care. To date no refund has been received. Sent another email to their customer service and wait to see how long this one will take to be answered. I hope air Malta is taking notice of all those bad reviews but one thing is certain, I will NEVER use this company again or go to Malta. Arrogant, incompetent and a don't care attitude seem to be the main characteristics of the staff working for this airline as well as a degree of thievery. Some comments mentioned corruption; they might have a point.
Shocked to find out that even in…
Shocked to find out that even in Business Class you cannot check in online or get a seat selection never mind know which lounge at Heathrow order a special meal or know baggage allowance ...theres simply no info available online ...theres no UK phone number and you are expected to spend some 60 minutes in a queue phoning Malta ...sorry but theres just pennies difference cost to book on BA and get all the above without hassle
I know where to place my business
Not refund !!
I not receive my refund 3 months after my refund ask.
Don’t book with them.
Worst flight experience ever
Their rules for children wearing masks for COVID not only are excessive, as they currently want all children above three years to wear a mask, but they are inconsistent as in their main web site the age limit is six years. Needless to say that this inconsistency was the cause of a very unpleasant and stressful incident exacerbated by the most rude and abusive flight attendant I have ever seen in 30 years of flying.
Incompetent, loud, and arrogant
This has to be the worst airline I have ever flown. I filled and printed all forms from the government website and from their email. When I arrive at the airport, guess what another made up airmalta form that surprise nobody printed.
I ask the check-in person why we weren't emailed an airmalta declaration form. Response:you don't have you don't board. I then asked can you give me a paper copy please, she just ignored me. Eventually after a shouting match, I get the piece of paper from air malta.
They are simply out to make your life as miserable as they can and treat you like utter crap.
When hiring they should look at competence and decency for start. No customer service, rude, arrogant, incompetent. Stay far away. This company doesn't have Google reviews, wonder why.
Bittersweet experience, won't ever deal again with Air Malta
I had a booked flight in August but because of their new measure ( 14 days quarantine in a hotel at your own expenses ) I can't go anymore. They won't refund me.
Shame on them. Poor and incompetent customer service.
