Bad Experience with Agoda
I booked a trip to Lake George, New York through Agoda. I paid for a Grand Double Mountain room, which provides two double beds. When I checked into the hotel I was informed that when it came through to their system from Agoda it provided a Grand King room. This is not what I paid for and not what I wanted. The hotel had to roll in a portable bed for my son to sleep on. It was a thin mattress ( cot) on a metal frame and not comfortable. When I called to complain to Agoda about their error I was offered a credit of $150 to return to my original form of payment for compensation. I had a very hard time dealing with their agent over the phone and in the end accepted the meager refund because I could see I was getting nowhere. Please do yourself a favor and do not book through this company. My experience was terrible. I generally do not write reviews, but I did want to prevent anyone from going through the same bad experience that I had.

Motel 6 stated I ACTUALLY reserved a room, SECOND FLOOR, NO MICROWAVE, & NO REFRIGERATOR & REFUSED TO GIVE ME THE ROOM AGODA HAD SOLD ME !!! .
So far Agoda has REFUSED to reply to ANY of my requests for help.
AGODA IS A LYING & USELESS BUSINESS THAT WILL SELL YOU ACODIMATIONS THAT DO NOT EXIST & THE UNSUPECTING CUSTOMER IS STUCK WITH THEIR DISHONESTY WHEN THEY GET TO THEIR DESTINATION!!!

Agoda, used before, but this time, absolutely shambolic... Arrived at hotel, booked 2 months previously, confirmation from Agoda, and then a week before arrival. Arrived today, hotel manager said, they don't recognise agoda Australia bookings, due to the FACT, they don't pay hotels, another couple from Finland, had the same issue on arrival...
To be fair to oasis villa nusa lembokan, they done everything possible to accommodate, but due to the fact they were 100% full couldn't help.
After 4 x times ringing agoda, 4 times being cut off, had to book at our own expense another accommodation... the total lack of interest, displayed by Agoda was staggering, once you bypass the useless AI app, you get to speak to someone who couldn't care less, explaining procedures, not interested as on an island, payment received, but not given to hotel!!!
They left us there, we will pay you a refund, and expression of good will give you $32, as gift of good will!!!
Seriously totally abysmal service.. don't ues this useless provider..

Absolute nightmare. Booked and confirmed days ago, but the hotel turned me away saying they never accepted Agoda's inventory. Zero support from Agoda when stranded on the street. Avoid booking this property through Agoda

Hotels photos are not same as in this website. They won't Refund at all. First they will say partially refunded but they won't do as hotel not accepting policy they say. On call customer service is very bad.

Confirmed Prepaid Booking Refused at Check-In No Compensation Offered
I booked and fully prepaid a room in Naran through Agoda because I wanted a smooth and hassle-free stay after a long journey with my family.
However, when I arrived at the hotel, the staff informed me that my booking was not confirmed and initially refused to check me in. They(Hotel Pine Groove Naran Pk) even stated that they were not registered with Agoda. This left my family waiting outside while the issue was being discussed, which was extremely stressful and disappointing after a long journey.
Despite showing my Agoda reservation and proof of payment, I was left in an uncertain situation and had to spend valuable time trying to resolve the issue instead of checking in and resting. No traveler should have to experience this after making a confirmed prepaid booking. I paid hotel addtional for my stay,
Although the issue was eventually resolved, it caused unnecessary stress, inconvenience, and significantly affected the start of my trip. Given the disruption, the time lost, and the distress caused to my family, I believe Agoda should have offered appropriate monetary compensation as a gesture of goodwill, rather than simply resolving the booking issue.
I hope Agoda improves its coordination with partner properties and has a clearer process for compensating customers when confirmed prepaid bookings fail at check-in. This experience has reduced my confidence in relying on the platform for future bookings.
Customer service is terrible
Customer service is terrible. Yes you get the best prices but when it all goes wrong they don't give a monkeys. We booked a hotel in India where the reviews on Agoda were all clearly lies and when we actually dug on them they weren't even from true tourists. The hotel apparently had 5 star reviews but it was an absolute sess pitt with a biting insect problem ... Possibly bed bugs or similar. It was dirty, smelly and the lovely pool in the photos was a straight lie. Agoda refused to refund despite photos as they couldn't see what my problem was and told me I had to take it up with the hotel itself who refused to respond. I won't use them again as a booking agent i'd rather pay more and have piece of mind through other platforms

Opportunity lost to resolve issue
My experiences of Agoda have been good and I have used them a lot over the years. However, when something goes wrong is when you expect a company to show its worth. I’d booked a hotel in Seattle months in advance of my stay. A few days before I got an email to say that Agoda had been unable to take payment from my credit card. These things happen so I logged into the app and proceeded to make payment with a different credit card. This was declined so I tried another card, again without success. I tried alternate cards a few times and then was informed my booking was cancelled. I contacted customer services who informed me there was nothing they could do as my booking was cancelled for ‘security reasons’. I asked if they could reinstate my booking and they said they couldn’t but I could rebook the same hotel for $300 more. When I asked to escalate this I was told that the adviser had already spoken to their manager and there was nothing they could do.
I then accessed Agoda chat to make a formal complaint and repeatedly got the same message telling me to make a new booking.

I booked with Agoda, because there was an offer to get avios if booking with them. So, when the time arrives to claim my avios, they refused to credit my avios, claiming many times and they said was not entitled to the avios. Such a shame.Never again!!

HORRIBLE experience. Said I could cancel by a certain day and then once I did I was still charged the full amount after I had cancelled. It’s also impossible to reach an actual live person for customer service. I’m going to challenge this through my bank. It’s fraud.

I booked Hotel Gajraj, Gangtok, India through Agoda (Booking ID: 2019689248) paying INR 6,425.52 based on the photographs and amenities displayed on their platform.
What I received was a room with:
🐛 Active bedbug and insect infestation
🤢 Mold soaked, water damaged walls
🛏️ Soiled dirty bed linens
❌ No toiletries, no drinking water, no tea kit
📺 Non functional television
📞 No intercom
🏨 Permanently vacant reception
❌ Zero amenities as advertised
THE CONFESSION:
Hotel Gajraj's own staff told me directly at room allocation: "These kinds of rooms are allocated for bookings made through Agoda." This is a deliberate, premeditated two tier fraud — inferior rooms reserved specifically for OTA customers while superior rooms are shown in listings to attract bookings. Agoda reviewed this allegation internally and chose not to deny it.
THE INJURY:
The bedbug infestation caused severe skin reactions across both my legs — inflamed, clustered bite marks in a linear trail pattern. I have photographic evidence. Agoda reviewed my injury photographs — and in their own words confirmed those photographs influenced their decision to approve the refund of the original booking. Yet they simultaneously refused to compensate for the injury those same photographs document.
THE HARDSHIP:
I was stranded in the mountains of Sikkim with no ATM, no cash, no internet. I borrowed money from strangers to fund emergency alternative accommodation on instruction from Agoda's own representative who assured full reimbursement. I spent ₹300 on a taxi to find a cyber café just to correspond with their team. I suffered breathlessness at high altitude while Agoda composed templated responses.
AGODA'S RESPONSE:
Across ten emails from five different representatives — Logen, Poonnamate, Rathi, and others — Agoda's position never changed:
INR 4,263.41. Final offer. Repeated robotically.
When I escalated to senior management their own team responded in writing: "Escalating to a higher manager will not change the outcome."
When I documented personal injury their response was: "Agoda notes these statements."
When I raised the staff admission their response was silence — not a denial, not a dispute, just internal review with no disclosure.
WHERE THIS STANDS:
This case has been escalated to 34 authorities across 9 countries including CCPA India, PMO PGPortal, Sikkim Police, Ministry of Tourism India, Consumers Association of Singapore, Office of Consumer Protection Board Thailand, consumer authorities in Malaysia, Indonesia, Vietnam, UAE, Qatar and Saudi Arabia, and Agoda's own CEO Omri Morgenshtern directly.
Media outlets including NDTV, India Today, Times Now and international wire services have been contacted.
TO ANYONE READING THIS:
Agoda is not a platform that takes responsibility when things go wrong. They are a platform that sends you templated emails until you give up. I did not give up. I documented everything. I escalated everything. And I am telling everyone.
Do not book through Agoda if you expect accountability when their listed property gives you bedbugs and their own staff confesses the fraud.

Scammed by agoda advertised Zurich Five hotel with a superior room east wing room and when I went to check in they made me drive 3 minutes away from the actual hotel to another building and my city view was of a car park actual disgrace of a company was on the phone to their customer service for 1 hour the advisor nor the hotel were helpful said nothing can be done and apparantly according to the advisor at agoda staying in a completely separate building to the actual hotel is fine and they don't need to advertise is total diagrace
Book thru Agoda At Your Own Peril
I booked this hotel knowing full well that Agoda had a no show zero refund policy. On arrival day, my exterminator could not tent the house due to high winds. So being inside the cancellation window Agoda refused to honor any sort of refund or compensation. I had to laugh at their last email to me sent on July 10th stating I could still use my reservation for July 7-9. When I asked if that meant they would comp a 2 day stay at this hotel I have heard nothing but crickets. I won't use them again and urge you heed this and other 1 star cautionary tales.
