Hebridean way

What a great experience cycling the Hebridean Way with a well organised company, great guides that were extremely knowledgeable, inclusive and fun. Accommodation and food along the way was also great. Would definitely recommend Wilderness Scotland

Fabulous guide who took us off the beaten track on some great walks, enriched with history and nature chats. Accommodation and food of a high standard at all times. This is our second holiday with WS, looking at going again next year.

Hiking/walking in the Isle of Skye 24-30 May, 2025

My first participation in a hiking & walking group tour (8 people + guide) in the Isle of Skye turned out to be one of the most fabulous experiences of my life....and it won't be my last!

Wilderness Scotland had provided great information before the trip, so that I felt secure in being able to travel alone (I am 77 years old and reasonably fit), and meet up with my group at the designated place in Inverness. Along with all the pertinent information, we were given a detailed list of equipment needed (both to wear and to bring). Consequently I was never wet or cold, no blisters, no midge bites, or hungry or thirsty. And we had it all; rain, strong winds, hail and midges, also intermittent sun...but we were well prepared!

Our "mountain goat" guide was superb and a ray of sunshine, very knowledgeable and therefore able to be flexible when the weather wasn't, so that we all got the hiking and walking experience we wished for. Besides, what was not to love and admire in this magical and aweinspiring landscape and topography of the gorgeous Skye! And the lambs and calves!

The meals we enjoyed, both at the inns and hotels we stayed in, and several restaurants were outstanding, both in variety and quality. I also enjoyed the variety of the inns and hotels we stayed in; providing us a bit of history, comfort and high quality.

I am now bitten by the hiking/walking bug. I would like to explore more in the Outer Hebrides, Orkney and Shetland islands. So I am ready to book a trip next year with Wilderness Scotland, of course.

All round great experience!

The whole process of researching the different tour offers and choosing my preference was easy, as was making the booking. Our guide, Liam, managed our group of seven people of different abilities very well so we all felt we got the best out of each day. The group discussions over breakfast with Liam were useful. It was a cracking trip with great birdwatching opportunities and interesting historical sightseeing.

Wilderness Scotland for a great Adventure!

This was a second great adventure with Wilderness Scotland. I would not hesitate to recommend them to anyone who is looking for: excellent customer service, no problems communicating throughout the process, interesting tours to take you far from the madding crowds (should you chose), personable, knowledgable and highly professional tour guides, comfortable accommodations and having all details taken care of.

Outer Hebrides and Skye Hiking Tour

Wilderness Scotland brings the perfect vacation/holiday to life!! Each and every detail of my hiking holiday was thoughtfully planned—it is readily apparent that Wilderness Scotland places paramount importance on the safety, comfort and pleasure of their clients! What truly made my personal experience so amazing was our guide, Fiona. A top notch hiking professional, Fiona was always on target with her recommendations, technique suggestions and encouragement when navigating challenging terrain. Her expert knowledge of plants, wildlife and geology—and willingness to teach us about everything we saw—really made each day’s hike even more interesting and meaningful. Fiona’s love of and passion for Scotland is evident—and contagious!! The stories, folklore and mythology we learned were intriguing and fascinating—quite simply put, Fiona is the best of the best!!

A holiday to remember

I have been on several Wilderness Scotland guided cycling trips all of which have been exceptionally well organised with excellent equipment, terrific guides and wonderful routes. Our trip this year was no exception to this. Our trip took us around Mull, the Ardnamurchan Peninsula and up the mainland west coast to Mallaig. We had an expedition to Iona and also a visit to Knoydart, both wonderful day trips. The accommodation on the trip was also very good indeed. Even though the weather was slightly unpredictable at times this never dampened our mood. I highly recommend this company as one that will provide you with a holiday to remember.

Amazing Scotland!

Scotland is gorgeous but what really made our vacation incredible was Wilderness Scotland. From the smooth and detailed planning executed by the office to the amazing experience planned by the guides, I cannot say enough good things. We cannot wait to return and see the isles with them.
