Have never had a problem before today…
Have never had a problem with James Wellbeloved..always buy my cats food direct from their website and consider myself a loyal customer. However ordered 3 x48 sachets of wet cat food and paid just over £122......arrived home this evening to a delivery box with only 1 x48 sachets inside. Now have a sleepless night worrying that I am going to lose over £80 which I cannot afford to do. Very disappointed, unhappy, stressed and worried. Will edit this review to more positive if James Wellbeloved can resolve speedily and either supply rest of order or give immediate refund....UPDATE: Spoke to nice man on phone yesterday morning and two remaining boxes arrived this morning so upgraded from 1 star to 3 star....still.abit uncertain about ordering from the company again though.

New recipe causes vomiting
Feeling a bit lost… my cat has chronic colitis and the only food that we had found that didn’t give her diarrhoea symptoms was James Wellbeloved but her last 3 meals she has vomited immediately. She has been eating this for 8 years no problem. Please bring back the old recipe … Darcy will thank you forever! 😿😿

Great company
Great company and website, great service . Sometimes a bit dearer than other websites but I tend to wait for offers , but next day delivery is free.
Had an issue with one order and they sorted it out straight away .
All three of our cats love this food…
All three of our cats love this food and they all seem to be happy and healthy eating it as part of their diet.
We buy the 10kg bags and are disappointed that it is no longer possible to re-seal these large bags to keep the food fresh with the new packaging that James Wellbeloved are using. Please have a rethink on this!

JWB changed the content and packaging…
JWB changed the content and packaging of their Dry Kibble without any notification, my 2 dogs suffered with sickness, diarrhea, went into septic shock, developed pancreatitis, peritonitis and the older dog lost his spleen. Due to the wonderful vets at TVHC they are both home recovering. This product should be removed from sale in my opinion its rubbish. Mars should be ashamed its all about their bottom line

Alert poultry fat now used in all Wellbeloved product…
Really disappointed as I have been using James Wellbeloved dry dog food for many years as I have 2 dogs that have allergies to Gluten and chicken. The Wellbeloved gluten free product did not include chicken fats so were perfect.
However they changed this in March 2025 without notify or publicising this. It was only as a result of my dogs allergies going into overdrive and the distress it was causing them that I started checking everything to work out what was causing it. Wellbeloved now include chicken and poultry fats in ALL their products so they are now no go products for any pets that have chicken or poultry allergies. When I queried this I was advised that it’s only a coating on the products and won’t cause any reaction! Tell my dogs that and I think they will say differently.
Just wanted people to know as they haven’t broadcast this change which is unfair and unkind.

Shame on James Wellbeloved
We have a fit and healthy 5yr old spaniel and have fed him James Wellbeloved from 8 weeks old.
We first noticed an issue when they changed their website, didn’t send our order and we had to chase them. They then ran out of stock and we had to get it from Amazon. The response from JW was very poor.
When we eventually did get food from them our dog was really unsettled and unhappy, he was off his food and had a lot of diarrhoea. After 3-4 weeks I became quite concerned, he was losing weight and refusing to eat it. I started looking at the reviews and realised that JW had changed their recipe.
I switched to a different brand, Forthglade and he changed over night, gobbling his food up and producing solid stools. An altogether happier dog.
Shame on JW, shambolic website, poor customer service, change in recipe without informing customers and increasing prices….would definitely not recommend and have told as many dog owners as I can about our terrible experience.

Fish and veg contains poultry fat
I’m not sure why I received a message that James Wellbeloved want my email address and phone number or my review will be taken off line . The review below is my experience.
Basically saying the fish and veg contains poultry fat which when I bought fish kibble it was to avoid poultry.
Review
The fish and veg kibble contains poultry fat . Just bought large bag of fish and veg for a chicken intolerant dog only to find it making her ill as the whole reason for putting her on it was to avoid chicken and they’ve added poultry fat !!
I’m now stuck with a big bag of the stuff.
It appears rather misleading labeling , making the consumer feel it just contains fish and veg

All the recent reviews are true
All the recent reviews are true. The website is just one big glitch for us subscription customers, been going on for most of the year.
I get my subscription of 1x12kg bag of dog food every 7 weeks. I sometimes need to bring that forwards, or delay to a later date. I had no problem doing that before the website maintenance team came in.
This time I needed to delay it a couple weeks, tried on the website. It seemed like it was done, although glitched back to main menu… Tell me, why and HOW a set subscription to one bag of dog food, at roughly at £56 is delivered with 2 bags, and charged roughly £112. This should roll over, I just don’t understand how a subscription is magically doubled. I was fuming, not only could I not afford it, I didn’t have the room to keep the toddler sized bag of food that I’d delayed, never mind an extra bag to store and pay for!!!!!!
I just left it, I couldn’t be bothered, it had left me short but I just thought it will be handy when I don’t have to pay for another one if it’s already paid for, and I’m stocked up until winter. I made no extra orders to my subscription, I just do not understand how this could possibly have happened.
So obviously I no longer needed the next due order. Went on to cancel, website doesn’t work still. Went on to live chat and asked for this to be done for me, iris the human I finally got to, assured me that she’d delayed for another 7 weeks.
I thought, ok but if the next order is delayed, will that automatically delay the rest 7 weeks after the next order gets to my door. I queried this and she again assured me no it will always be your 7 week gap in between orders unless changed. Thinking I don’t want multiple bags turning up at my door again.
Brilliant all sorted.
Go to sleep, wake up- Lo and behold I get an email your order is dispatched. WOW. Not on my watch!!!! Furious.
STRAIGHT ONTO CHAT. CANCEL THIS NOW, YOU CAN SEE MY CHAT HISTORY ONLY YESTERDAY.
food came, demanded a refund. And demanded again another delay as yet again I had another 12kg bag.
3 bags sat in my hallway blocking my stairs, my fire exit.
I thought I’d visit trip advisor to see if it’s just me with the website. Nope. I think I too will be cancelling everything now and changing food if they are dishonest about ingredients changes. Too much hassle I do not need.
I have removed my custom.
I used James Wellbeloved for many years until recently. The products (dog food in my case) are fantastic - great quality and variety. However, the glitches in the system combined with very poor response from customer service means I have removed my custom.
Many times when I had changed or delayed a subscription item, it either didn't arrive or the wrong item came at the wrong time, and sometimes was delivered to the wrong place. Several times, the bag had been damaged in transit and had been taped closed, but was underweight.
Promised loyalty discounts disappeared and I was given flannel as to why this had happened. Several times, my chosen product was not available. Their website was recently updated which seemed to make everything worse.
I gave them many chances but the final straw was finding my preferred JW product much cheaper elsewhere with a BIG retailer.

Ingredients change, dog is very ill/ no transparency
Shocked and disappointed that JWB firstly didn't advise that our subscription delivery was cancelled and we almost ran out of the dog food as well as decreased the percentage of our subscription and the price went up by £17 so there is now no benefit or incentive. And to top it off, our dog has had upset stomach, runny stool and accidents in the house for a week now when the new batch arrived and we were so confused to why. We did some digging and behold , so many others are experiencing this and it's because JWB have changed their ingredients without letting customers know! I can't believe a company like this would not have the courtesy to be transparent and care for their customers/ pet and they should know that dogs have very sensitive stomachs and when introducing to new foods or the slightest change in their diet, it can really mess them up. Because we order subscriptions via your website, we have 5 unopened packets and we can no longer use them! We most certainly want our money back and to return them as it doesn't agree with our dog anymore! Extremely disappointed, we have used you for 4 years and was happy, but to treat your customers like this is very sad.

Lack of attention to customers and their dogs
---- NOTE AFTER READING CUSTOMER SERVICE ANSWER ----25/08/2025
Your answer shows a clear lack of concern for your customers: "your furry friend should not even notice any difference as they continue to enjoy their favourite food." As I clearly stated, HE DOES. A “slight change” for a dog with a sensitive stomach is a big deal, and you should know that better than anyone else.
I can imagine that this change was just to use cheaper ingredients and will mean for us that we have to take on this nice increase of your prices. it is unacceptable.
I am a subscriber, so your claim that the change was “communicated to our James Wellbeloved subscribers and also highlighted by our retailers” is meaningless. Important changes like this should not be buried in dozens of promotional emails or tucked into a tiny flyer with my order. A recipe change is a serious matter and deserves far more care, consideration, and direct communication with the people who rely on your food for their pets’ health.
------INITIAL REVIEW -------
after 4 years with a subscription on the grain-free small breed dry food, James Welbeloved decided to change their recipe without letting any of their customers, letting some of us, with sensitive stomach and allergies, dealing with dogs having terrible diarrhoea.
It has now been 4 days of diarrhoea for my dog and I feel terrible for him.
I tried to contact the customer service and they were not considerate at all.
I find this situation very bad considering that I went for this brand because of their recipe and they simply decided to change it without letting me an opportunity to let my dog adapt to it.
(And after 4 years with this brand I was not expecting to see a price increase of 17 pounds on the order I make monthly. Also without any communication... That was the last straw, I am done)
I wouldn't recommend the brand for it's lack of communication before making huge changes both on their pricing and most importantly their recipe.

Sneaky change to James Wellbeloved
Why have James Wellbeloved changed ingredients in their dry dog food without notifying customers. Like many dogs, mine is allergic to chicken and now their 'novel protein' foods: duck and fish have had the olive oil replaced with poultry fat - this is a cost cutting exercise which is putting dogs with food sensitivities at risk

Really bad customer service
I have always thought James Wellbeloved dog food was great but I ordered a bag of food recently and had the completely wrong food delivered. No worries, mistakes happen but I then messaged directly to them about the issue asking for the correct food and also on FaceBook but no response and that was over a week ago! Needless to say I won't be buying again and also have been left with no dog food and had to buy a different brand.

I have fed my dogs James Wellbeloved…
I have fed my dogs James Wellbeloved dry dog food for the last few years. However, a couple of months ago I opened a bag of the food and noticed there were insects in the food bag. As I had used the same food for my dogs for a few years I reasoned there may have been a problem during the packing process. However, I recently had another James Wellbeloved bag of dog food delivered and on opening found the same type of insects inside the bag. I will no longer be feeding my dogs this food and will selecting an alternative make of dog food. After Mars who make James Wellbeloved dog food replied after they had done an investigation into my complaint where they state they have recognised areas where cleaning needs have been recognised in production and the resighting of lamps and their reduction of the amount, (therefore accepting responsibility and the need for improvements) they offered me a £20 coupon to purchase other James Wellbeloved products. I declined the offer stating that it cost me £43 for the 15kg bag of food which I had to throw away due to the infestation of insects, and had sent them a photograph of one of the bugs and photos of bar code and other codes at their request meaning I had to take the bag out of my bin on 2 occasions, therfore I told them at least I expected them to recompense me the full cost as compensation. Their final response was to inform me as I had purchase the goods from Amazon and not directly from them they were only able to offer me the £20 voucher. This is disgraceful customer service especially as they recognised improvement measures were required in the production process. I will never purchase any products from this company again.

COMPANY FALLS INTO THEIR MOUTH!!!
Having been a customer of this company for many years, I've realized that it's recently gone completely downhill.
I sent a message, and no one bothered to respond. I wanted to contact a regional representative, but I think they're gone.
When I called the company to take care of basic issues, I was told, "I don't know, there's no other option, I can't transfer anywhere, I can't handle anything because I'm just a customer service representative who can't do anything at all." So I asked why some uneducated person with no knowledge or practical skills was there, probably to irritate customers with his own incompetence. A son with no knowledge of anything is so pathetic, and there are no words to describe what's happened to this company. If this continues, it will be a failure, like so many companies that have forgotten about their customers and their pets.

Absolutely shocking customer service
Absolutely shocking customer service. Ordered food over a week ago for my dog. States it has been dispated Royal Mail 24hr tracked. No update whatsoever and has never arrived. I have contacted James Wellbeloved on numerous occasions via online chat, email and even Instagram. No response and if I do get a response it’s not helpful. DO NOT USE THIS WEBSITE!!! I will probably never receive my item or get my money back so avoid at all costs! Absolutely shocking service. Will never use again!

Lousy customer service
I set up a subscription for my dog’s food. Realising it was overdue, I kept checking my account and noticed that the due date kept getting put back. Apparently they have stock issues and don’t know when they will be back in stock (despite the fact I could get the same product from Amazon or Pets at Home!). Why hadn’t I been told this? No point in having a subscription if they don’t deliver on time, don’t know when they will be able to deliver and don’t let you know there is a problem.
UPDATE - 8 Aug:
Contrary to what JW said about having notified subscribers, I only received a notification about this today, several weeks after my subscription was due. And contrary to their assurances that the issues were being fixed and that the item should be back in stock soon, it clearly still isn’t.
Also, they have ignored my request (made in an online chat with their customer so-called services on their website) to cancel my subscription.

Used to be good but not any more.
Our 3 cats all loved the turkey and rice adult dry food but since the recipe changed, not any longer. Everything has gone downhill with James Welbeloved since the website overhaul, with the food never being in stock any more and nothing seems to work like it used to subscription wise. It's almost like it's been taken over by another company with no experience of pet food. Look at the recent reviews, nearly all bad. I've had to find a new sensitive food but it has worked out well as it's cheaper.
