I ordered a dress from Ulla Popken, and it arrived late. The quality was decent, but the fit wasn’t perfect. The fabric was nice, but the sizing guide was unclear. I expected better, but it’s not a total loss. I’ll try again.

I love Ulla Popken for clothing that (generally) is shaped for plus sized bodies. I like the variety of styles they have available for people with different preferences. I also think their customer service is top notch and their deliveries are fast despite coming to the US from Germany. Sometimes I get a win on quality but often the material is passable and they're maximizing profit by using materials that are less durable and more difficult to clean and construction that uses minimal fabric and fast assembly. It depends how much you want to care for your clothing. I want pre-shrunk cotton and I think they don't provide clothes made from it because the material is more expensive. However, it's machine washable and can be dried without shrinking. A blouse that I think is very pretty had a loose seam immediately. I had a hard time mending it because they left the minimum material at the edge of the seam - not enough to restitch.
In short, if you want nice, stylish, high maintenance clothing go to Ulla Popken. Their customer service is good and I can tell there are a lot of people in the company who want to provide a good product and good service. For more conservative but machine washable and dryer safe clothing, I recommend Land's End. Their clothing also fits plus sized women with the same number of screw-ups with respect to cut, but their clothing is far more durable. Land's End also has far less variety of styles than Ulla Popken.

Great quality, fast shipping

Excellent responsiveness to my Return request and the Reorder was shipped immediately. Size tool was spot on. I did npt use on initial order. The items were too large first round. I followed the guide and perfect. Excellent quality products. Will buy again.

Very nice fabric and workmanship. True to size

I really love the two items I ordered. The dirdnl like vest and the lace shirt are a lovely matching pair, although I could wish for a less cropped version of the blouse, since I won't be able to wear it on its own. The sustainable fabrics make them especially attractive to me. I would order again, but for one thing... US customs. They kept the shipment past three scheduled delivery dates. Possible extra import fees were mentioned at least once. This of course in no way reflects upon Ulla Popken, but it definitely affects decisions on further purchases. In short, store and purchases very satisfying, while US customs impacted the experience negatively.

Shipping was super fast from Germany to the U.S., and the 3 blouses I ordered exceeded expectations in quality, fit, and color.

In this day and age, most companies have an easy way to do returns. This company, unfortunately remains in the past and requires you to repackage, print a label and take the item to a UPS store. It takes a very long time to get a credit back. And for all this, they charge you a fee.

Always a good experience with ordering and shipping. Clothes are well made and true to size.
