If you want any support the live chat is a joke. 5 min delay between every question you ask. After about a half an hour and no closer to resolving my problem I gave up and rang them. At least that was a plus and within 5 mins problem solved.

‘Challenger banks’… what can you say other than you get what you pay for?
Twice now in the past 3 years I’ve tried to open a Starling business bank account, and twice I’ve been rejected. This is on both occasions where proof of funds have been provided, alongside a business plan and on each occasion I’ve been forced to record my voice and video myself saying ‘I’m a customer’, of which I find idiotic as I never was.
Then to be immediately denied an account and not be told why. Funnily enough, I can open numerous accounts elsewhere. Have a perfect credit score and a chartered member of a financial body vetted to the highest of standards each year and judged to fit and proper.
Not to be told the reason for a decline is incredibly frustrating, as it could be due to something very straight forward which could be resolved, but I’m none the wiser and the disclaimer on their rejection text already preempts any questions by stating, “we can’t tell you our reasons why”.
Don’t make me laugh, that’s nonsense, I’ve been in this industry for 20 years!
I can only assume that unless your business is something attractive to Starling by either way of potential charging or deemed lower risk, they won’t be bothered. Is this treating clients fairly?!
I’ll be completing a SAR followed by a formal complaint and finally a request for data removal. Imagine all the time and cost that’ll eat up guys!
