We have had a SMEG dual fuel range for 9 years and it has had so many service needs for replacing the oven thermostate twice to the glass in the door exploding. We have spent more money on repairs than the range originally cost. I would NEVER recommend this brand to anyone. They provide terrible customer service.

a complaint about both the customer service

I am writing to formally raise a complaint about both the customer service I have experienced in Canada and the safety of one of your products.

Firstly, the customer service I received was extremely disappointing. The representatives were rude, unresponsive, and showed no concern for my questions or requests for assistance. Emails were ignored, and I felt that my concerns were not taken seriously at all. This level of service is unacceptable for a company of your reputation.

Secondly, and more importantly, there was a very serious issue with the product itself. A screw came loose and fell into the food, creating a dangerous situation where someone could easily have choked. This is a major safety hazard and cannot be ignored. When I reported this issue, the lack of urgency and care in your response was shocking.

I expect an immediate investigation into this matter, as well as a clear explanation of how you intend to prevent this from happening again. Additionally, I request a formal apology and a proper resolution to this situation.

If I do not receive a satisfactory response, I will have no choice but to escalate my complaint to consumer protection authorities.

I bought SMEG milk frother

I bought SMEG milk frother. Worst decision of my life that was.

This thing stopped making hot cappuccino almost out of the box - a week after I turned it on.

I advise to all people out there - avoid SMEG at any cost. Even though SMEG products are very expensive, the quality is very poor.

SMEG CAME OUT TOPs

I purchased a SMEG toaster and kettle from a seller on Bobshop in South Africa. I was delighted with them. After a year then toaster started playing up. I contacted Smeg, who organised someone to collect the toaster from me, and they took it away to Cape Town. One week later (today) I received my toaster back, except it wasnt my old toaster, but a brand new retro toaster. Incredible service and value. Thank you from a very happy customer.

Smeg kettle pretty but short life

For a kettle that cost in excess of £120 three years ago. It has failed completely. In a world of diminishing resources this short life span is frankly disgusting. No more smeg for me - ever. Just don't buy them - very poor quality.

We bought a Smeg dishwasher from Kitchen Things in Kapiti, Wellington. Within a couple of weeks it had sprung a leak. We then had to arrange with Kitchen Things to get a repair person to come & investigate.
I would definately not recommend the Smeg brand to anyone. Very poor construction.

Premium brand, my elbow!

I was under the impression Smeg was a premium brand, sadly that turned out to be far from true, we purchased a Kettle (KLFO3BLUK) from AO, which started to leak from the fill level indicator window, we raised the issue with Smeg who sent out a replacement, after a few months this Kettle also developed a leak in the exact same place. This is obviously a design flaw. We are now on Kettle number 3, Smeg denied our request for a different model, one that does not leak. Very poor quality, won't be purchasing anything from Smeg again.

Extremely Poor Customer Service and No ResolutionI placed an order with Smeg Part Store…

I placed an order with Smeg Part Store on August 10th. Immediately after completing the purchase, I realized that the shipping address was incorrect — it was my old address.

Right away, I clicked on the “Need help? Contact us” button on their website and was instructed to send an email. I sent an email explaining the situation and requesting the address to be corrected.

I received no response.
I sent another email on August 11th, and another on August 12th, but still no reply.

Out of desperation, I went to the Smeg Part Store website and tried the live chat. Only then did I get a response — telling me there was “nothing they could do” because the order had already shipped. I insisted and asked for the matter to be escalated, but the answer remained the same.

This is unacceptable. I reached out immediately after my purchase and was ignored for days. As a result, I have paid for a product that I will never receive. I feel like I have simply thrown money away, and the company has shown no concern or effort to help resolve the situation.

I am extremely disappointed and frustrated with the quality of customer service and the complete lack of care for their customers.

zero Customer service on faulty goods

Absolutely disgusting service for a faulty $5000 fridge. The fridge makes a sound bang randomly all day and night. It took weeks to get any kind of initial response, which was we'll have a local service person contact you. Noone did. We repeated this process multiple times before I finally lost it. Smeg didn't follow up with us at any point to see if we'd been contacted by the local person. Not once. We had to keep chasing them. Then we were told to record the noise for them. What? You want me to sit in front of the fridge recording until it makes the noise? Why? Is there a chance this noise is normal? Part of its normal workings? THEN we were told to find our own repairer to look at it. Such fantastic service! After months of back and forth, actually... not back and forth because not once did SMEG reach out to us. Then we demanded a refund. Obviously the warranty wasn't worth the paper it's written on. We can't get ANY customer service for the product. AND it's faulty! The email we got back was that they would refund as an 'act of good faith'. What the he'll. Good faith! On your faulty product!!! So we were told a cheque will be in the mail in 2 weeks. One month later... we were still waiting. So again, we had to reach out and follow up. They are the worst communicators. Just pathetic. So then today, 2 men turn up at my door unannounced, to apparently collect the faulty fridge on behalf of SMEG and that we had already been advised of this by SMEG. Needless to say at this point, we had no idea. Not to mention i was home alone when these 2 guys showed up on my doorstep. I wouldn't buy from this company ever again. The WORST service I've ever encountered.

SMEG Hood

SMEG Hood – A Stylish but Deeply Flawed Purchase

This has been one of the most disappointing products I’ve ever bought.

Before installation, I had to fix loose internal components myself—an alarming start. Once running, the hood is extremely noisy, and the overall design feels rushed and poorly executed.

The fittings are awkward and flimsy, with the ceiling connection system being particularly unstable and frustrating to use. Despite its sleek appearance, the unit fails functionally in almost every way.

I didn’t bother contacting customer service, as my previous customer service experience with the matching SMEG stove left me equally frustrated and unwilling to go through the hassle again.

Disappointing Experience with SMEG…

Disappointing Experience with SMEG Espresso Machine and Customer Service

I purchased a SMEG espresso machine in early May, expecting a high-quality product given the brand’s premium reputation. Unfortunately, from the start, the machine has not worked properly. The espresso is barely warm, and the milk frothing wand performs poorly, leaving me with lukewarm coffee.

I reached out to SMEG’s warranty department and was referred to Royco. The service was subpar, with slow responses and no effective solutions. Eventually, a replacement was arranged, but that too had the same issues — water temperature only reaching 81°C instead of the expected 90°C+.

What has been most frustrating is the lack of follow-through from SMEG’s team. Jerry Matyja, the Service/Technical Manager, assured me that if the replacement unit didn’t fix the issue, I would receive a refund. Now, after months of back-and-forth, he is telling me I must return the machine to the original store, Hudson’s Bay — which has since closed. This complete disregard for their own commitment is unacceptable.

This experience has left me deeply disappointed with SMEG, especially given that I own other SMEG appliances. I will be taking my business elsewhere where customer service is actually valued.

SMEG toastesr are awful

SMEG toaster are awful. 1.5 years after purchasing, it died completely. Customer service is horrible and your warranty policy is even worse.

I submitted a warranty claim and because I didn't have my receipt, they wouldn't send me a replacement even though I gave them the model and s/n and told them I'd send it back to them so they can figure out why this expensive piece of crap stopped working.

Smeg kettle 3rd degree burn

Purchased a Smeg kettle and toaster which cost nearly £300 The kettle stuck to the base after a few uses. As a result I had a third degree burn on my thigh.
An assessor from Smeg came and looked at the kettle and assured me someone would be in touch.
Never to be heard from again.
A very arrogant and rude company. I’m permanently scarred for life, with no concern from this company. I won’t be letting this drop and I’ll post pictures of my burn.

Expensive toaster that doesn't toast (3 of them) and a kettle that can't boil water

Had problems with toasters failing after several months (only toasting on one side), so thought we'd invest in a "decent" brand, but all that seems to have happened is that we've forked out for expensive junk.

First toaster failed after 2 months.

Fair play, they sent a replacement, but this one didn't toast properly from the off. 2 days and we're having to report it.

Premium brand doesn't mean premium quality.

EDIT: and now the 3rd toaster has failed. 3 toasters in 4 months

Smeg appears to be a "show pony" brand that's suggests quality, but in reality is nothing but junk.

EDIT 2: And now the kettle I bought from them has broken too - the lid won't open. However, Smeg are disputing that and saying it's not broken, which is "confusing" as not being able to open the lid means I can't fill it with water and use it for its sole purpose, which is to heat up water to boiling point. Just goes to show that Smeg do seem to consider that their products are all about window dressing and that their products are just ornaments as the functionality of them seems irrelevant.

EDIT 3: Kettle's gone too, but smegma dispute that even though the lid doesn't open. Brilliant... a product you can't open and put water in to make it serve its sole purpose of heating water up. I've managed to argue the toss on this though and as a "goodwill gesture" have agreed to be able to let me return it. There's zero goodwill here so that's nothing short of lie. As mentioned before, their products are only for show and utterly useless if you actually need to use them.

My range cooker needs to be replaced because of a design flaw where food falls behind a void and the front panel needs to be removed - I’ve begged for help from Smeg to try resolve the issue together - they couldn’t care less.

Don't Trust the company Smeg

Anyone purchasing a Smeg product needs to know how POORLY the company responds if there is an issue. Unlike other top brands like Dyson, etc. Smeg refuses to look up your product by serial number. They send you legnthy emails asking you to photograph the serial number, create a video for them and a photograph of the receipt. I'm not sure why this company is even in business. The product looks great, but it breaks. The company refuses to assist its clients. I would never buy this brand.

Shocking customer service in this day & age
I would rate it 0 if the review allowed, I had issues with dishwaher and the engineer came out and had incorrect parts, They re-ordered and two weeks later another engineer came out and the part did not fit/work. Its been over 2 months and I am without dishwasher and their customer service is totally useless, They take your details and do nothing you have to chase without success. I asked for their complaints manager and they refuse to share their details and tell you they will call you back but no one calls. I asked to raise a formal complaint and they fail to raise that also. Avoid SMEG or you will become another fustrated customer. call no.831583
