I am extremely disappointed with the Smeg Kettle
I am extremely disappointed with this SMEG kettle. It stopped working properly in less than one year, first intermittently and now almost not at all. This is unacceptable for a product marketed as high-quality and sold at a premium price—especially when much cheaper kettles last far longer.
Customer service refused to offer a replacement and only proposed a discount on a future purchase, which I find unreasonable for a defective product. Despite owning several SMEG products, this experience has seriously damaged my trust in the brand.
I do not recommend this product.
What terrible overpriced products
What terrible overpriced products. Don't waste your money. Paid almost $300 for a kettle that stopped working after a year. Poor products only equalled by poor customer service. When contacted , Smeg offered a discount on another purchase. No thanks .
Worst I have ever seen.
Faulty Toaster Element
Purchased what I thought was a high end good quality toaster. After very limited use the two Center elements have burn out. Customer Service is a joke if you don’t have your receipt. My advice stay away from these small appliances costly and are junk. All negative reviews indicate elements have failed.
Leaking kettle
When phoning Jo was very helpful , my kettle had a leak after 2 and half year i was very disappointed as expected longer than that at the price £170 was was not offered a repair but was offered a new one at the discounted price of £54 which I took as I've got the toaster to match or I would have just left it..
Do not buy this poor quality brand
Do not buy this poor quality brand. I genuinely believe temu products would last longer and be safer then any smeg product.
Brand new oven broke with multiple different problems within months. Jug broke in weeks. Everyone I know who has had smeg said they would never buy again. Look great but would not trust to have in my house ever again!
Fridge quality & Service
Beautiful design but highly priced and appalling quality. It's my 2nd one, same issue with ice accumulating rapidly in the fridge compartment. Local customer service charged me 350EUR for spare part replacement and labour, problem occured again and they informed me that Headquarter knows about the issue and has no solution.......
Retro Garbage
I bought the mug juicer. I barely had it a year. I also don’t use it regularly, but since I’ve been diagnosed with hypothyroidism, I’ve been juicing more. And it’s made of plastic. It looks like it’s made a metal, but it’s all painted plastic. The funnel where the juice runs into your container so that you may enjoy your fresh juice broke. I have to put my juicer in a fkn pie pan and then pour the juice into my cup because the piece of plastic crap broke off. I’m pissed because I paid $250 for this thing. I wish I could add the photo on this site to show you.
Don’t buy this!!!
Don’t buy this!!!
I’ve had some crappy coffee machine machines. But this one takes the cake for the price.
It’s slow as shit. And the coffee‘s junkie.
I am extremely disappointed with Smeg
I am extremely disappointed with Smeg. We purchased a top-of-the-line Smeg oven as part of a very high-end kitchen, expecting durability and premium performance. Instead, the oven has been a complete disaster.
After just one year of normal use, the oven door literally fell off. This is supposed to be a luxury appliance — yet it didn’t even last as long as far cheaper brands we’ve owned for many years without issues.
What makes it worse is that Smeg offers no meaningful support. Even though the failure is clearly a manufacturing or quality issue, the response was essentially:
“The warranty is over — nothing we can do.”
For an appliance at this price point, this is unacceptable. A premium oven shouldn’t fall apart after one year. The product quality does not match the branding, the reputation, or the cost.
I will never purchase Smeg again, and I strongly advise anyone considering this brand to rethink it. The quality is unreliable, and the customer service provides no support when things go wrong.
Good looking but unreliable.
We are now on our 3rd coffee machine which has not worked from July this year. The previous 2 were replaced as unworkable over the last couple of years. The last one we bought has not worked at all since we had it in July.
Very frustrating they have the looks but disappoint with performance.
Smeg water Boiler, many problems
Very bad experience with our water Boiler. The first one did not work as expected. The second Bad issues with the coating which came off. The third now lasted 3 years, looses water now though the water level indicator, which runs to the base and to the internal electronics. Very dangerous. Further, the base makes an anoying, high-frequency Sound. The customer support did not want to know about the issues but musst wanted to sell me a new one - for a special price which was 35€ above official Amazon Price of the Smeg store.
Toaster is Good, though. So two stars from me.
Don’t waste your money
Don’t waste your money, I’ve had the appliances for a couple of years. I should get rid of them because the performance is absolutely rubbish, but feel like I need to keep them because they were so expensive. The blender says it can crush ice when making smoothies - it doesn’t. I have the hand blender with the whisk, the whisk bit is so thin that you have to hold the whisk bit so it doesn’t come off. Also when whisking the contents go everywhere. Very good marketing with influencers endorsing their products - but they are absolutely rubbish in terms of performance but good for display purposes only.
AVOID
Bought a range cooker. The seal on oven came away around 18 months and at year 3 the oven has stopped working. An absolute joke. It’s cheap materials and they cost them extremely high. AVOID
Hi I purchased a Smeg 4 Slice toaster…
Hi I purchased a Smeg 4 Slice toaster from shopping channel only 1 yr and 2mths ago. Unfortunately the handle does not stay down anymore and it looks like it does not heat up either. We took it apart and looked to see if there was any crumbs and I called customer service did what we needed to do. Not happy at all with Smeg as they do not stand up to there products and nothing they can do for you. I will not recommed this to toaster as you can buy cheaper and get better results as this is only for looks. Unhappy with the service and wasted over $200 on a toaster. Don't waste your money.
If I could give zero stars, I would.
If I could give this brand zero stars, I would. They deserve it—for both their terrible products and their even worse customer service. Do yourself a favor and don’t buy anything from them.
I purchased a toaster and a blender, spending over $600 in total. The toaster (about $235) stopped working after just three years and only ever toasted one side of the bread properly. The blender (around $300) started leaking in the second year, and now it leaks so badly that anything you put in pours right out, causing the motor to stop because of the liquid.
Their customer service has been the worst I’ve ever experienced. They simply don’t care. I’ve been trying for over six months to get support. Instead of offering real help, they asked me to fill out an online form. Someone eventually replied only to tell me both items were out of warranty — as if I didn’t already know that — and said they couldn’t repair them. Their “solution” was to offer a 30% discount on a new product. Why would I buy again from a brand that sold me such unreliable appliances?
They also told me I could buy replacement parts for the blender (and pay shipping) and find a local repair shop myself. That’s not customer service. They repeat the same scripted responses or stop replying altogether until you give up out of frustration.
I’m extremely disappointed and frustrated with how this company treats its customers. They sell overpriced, poor-quality appliances and take no responsibility when things go wrong.
It feels like a scam. Do not buy from them.
SMEG IS OVERPRICED AND OVER RATED
SMEG IS OVERPRICED AND OVER RATED. BY ALL MEANS AVOID BUYING THEIR PRODUCTS. I PURCHASED AN ELECTRIC KETTLE AND AFTER A YEAR OF BEING USED TO SWITCH THAT TURNS ON AND OFF STOPPED WORKING. A SMALL APPLIANCE THAT COST SO MUCH SHOULD BE ABLE TO OPERATE AFTER A YEAR OF USE. I’VE HAD A NUMBER OF ELECTRIC KETTLES AND I HAVE NEVER HAD ANY BREAKING DOWN SO QUICKLY. THE COST OF THE KETTLE WAS OVER $200. I CONTACTED SMEG AND I CAN TRULY SAY THAT THEY DO NOT STAND BY THEIR PRODUCTS. CUSTOMER SERVICE IS A WASTE OF TIME. I STRONGLY RECOMMEND CONSIDERING INVESTING IN OTHER BRANDS THAT ARE AVAILABLE TO CONSUMERS. SMEG IS APPEALING TO THE EYES BUT ARE JUST NOT THE MOST RELIABLE APPLIANCES. I HAVE A TOASTER AND HAVE EXPERIENCED SIMILAR PROBLEMS. STAY AWAY FROM SMEG!!!
I purchased a SMEG kettle and toaster…
I purchased a SMEG kettle and toaster in February this year and was delighted with both . I recently had some issues with the kettle leaking from the water gauge and some pitting of the coating. I contacted customer service and was able to speak to Michelle, a customer assistant to go through the problem s that had developed .She went out of her way to help and within an hour of speaking to her, I had confirmation that a new kettle would be sent. This arrived the next day. I cannot fault the customer service I received, the way my enquiry was delt with and the speed it was resolved . I love the products and I just hope my new kettle won’t develop the same fault.
AVOID SMEG APPLIANCES AT ALL COSTS!
AVOID SMEG APPLIANCES AT ALL COSTS!
Fridge/freezer appliance lasted only just 4 years, costing £1200, would cost a further £400 to fix. Instead bought another appliance from a reputable manufacturer at half the cost of Smeg.
Smeg could not provide quality control reports 👎 for this appliance.
AVOID AVOID AVOID!!
Buy from another reputable manufacturer for half the price of Smeg.
I’d never ever have anything Smeg in my home again. Highly disappointed
Both the espresso machine and toaster…
Both the espresso machine and toaster look great — if all you want is countertop décor. The toaster only toasts one side (apparently the other side’s on vacation), and the espresso machine works when it feels like it. For the price, you’d think they’d at least pretend to perform. Customer service? Useless. Save your money — or just buy a nice paperweight instead.
As they asked for a date, I supplied one, but this has been an ongoing problem with no response.....AND to replace the element in the Toaster is about $125 .....get real
i purchased a smeg range cooker in…
i purchased a smeg range cooker in November 2024 already there are signs of rusting in the entire oven. I have not used any abrasives to clean the oven. Is the inside really stainless steel? Also it's difficult to get hold or get a response from Smeg via email. Its still within the 2 year warranty
