If I could give zero stars I would

If I could give zero stars I would. Beware of the way they do business. For all of their automated BS. They wound up costing us an extra $1500 for movers. All it would have taken was a phone call or an email. Partly my fault mostly theirs. Just beware

Overpriced and underserviced since NSA Brands bought them out.

I've rented a large locker at the US 36 location in Avon, Indiana for over 15 years. The facility has been bought and sold at least 3 times during that interval, to successively worse owners. The current owner, NSA Brands, is the worst yet. Substantially elevated pricing since the Pandemic began, incompetent facility managers, seemingly random overlocking of tenants' lockers which denies access despite not being in arrears, unrepaired damage to locker roofs that allow water and rodents access to stored items, and often no one is on-site to handle problems. After months of trying to get at least some attention from the operators, I gave notice of intent to vacate and will be moved out this month. I cannot recommend this facility to anyone. It used to be great before big storage companies consolidated the market in the name of maximized profit and zero customer service. I could have built a very large pole barn for the money I've given the owners over the years. Also, be aware that Indiana has a new law, effective July 2023, that allows storage operators to seize your property and sell it if you ever fall five (yes, 5) days behind in your rent. This law was lobbied for by NSA Brands.

High rate increases every 3-6 months

High rate increases every 3-6 months. My latest rate jumped from $120 to $150 (a month!). Their insurance fee is bogus. From other reviews, they're not going to cover any kind of damage from rats, rain, etc. What's happening here is a trap some companies fall in... when more customers flee from reading the negative reviews, SecurCare raises the rate to maintain their revenue. The people who wrote the negative reviews then feel the effect. However, it's worth it. I hope they raise the rate to $900 a month for a 10x10 and everybody flees, leaving nothing but storage units full of HUNGRY RATS.

Unscrupulous Business Practices

I have had several units at the E. Ponce de Leon location in Decatur, GA since June 2021...each unit's monthly rate increased approximately 15% every 3-6 months. I understand that the units are rented month-to-month so rent can change, but what justifies such steep and frequent rate increases? I surmise that SecurCare figures a tenant will accept arbitrary and frequent rate increases to avoid having to go through the hassle and expense of moving to a different storage unit company.

It's time for we the people to speak up!!!

I would like to let everyone know that this company has totally lost my trust. I will be leaving SecureCare Self Storage for raising my rent by $12.00 for a super small 5x10 unit without notice of this change. I am on a tight budget and this change is unacceptable. Things are bad enough in this country, thanks to the current Crappy Biden Administration. Though it may not be much to many people, $144 a year makes a big difference to a disabled person only receiving SSDI.

DO NOT RENT HERE

Do NOT RENT HERE. You will get high rent increases- higher rate than than what they are renting to new customers. In Dec 22 I received a $30 increase notice. My rate would go up from $209 to $248. I looked up their current rental rate and it was at $160 - $80 .ore than the current rental rate. The security gate is frequently broken. There are no dumpsters on the property. In the back section most of the security lights do not work and it's extremely dark. Trust me, you can find better.

Fix your elevator!!!!!!!!!

Fix your elevator!!!!!!!!!
The elevator has been out of service for over a year, and now the owners are saying it will be out indefinitely and that the elevator was just a courtesy. I didn't see that in their advertisement nor was it told to me when I was renting this unit or I would not have rented a unit on the second floor. Now I have to figure out how to get my heavy items from the second floor. Nothing in the contract says the elevator is a courtesy.

Facility is filthy and smells of urine

Facility is filthy and smell of urine, feces and mildew. This facility was acquired by SecurCare in September and it is now a dump. Hard to believe in less than two months a formerly very clean storage facility could become so awful. Our clothes and furniture are full
of dirt and now smell of mildew. Can’t get out of here fast enough!

We have used this facility for storage…

We have used this facility for storage since 2018. We’ve never had a real great experience with them and it’s gotten way worse lately. They continue to raise our rates without any notice at all. They also adjusted our payment due date without any notice, causing multiple payment to be considered late by 2 days, at which point they charged a $30 late fee. We recently had some health issues involving hospitalization and they refused to remove late fees after the payment was 2 days late, regardless of medical documentation. When they were called early in the day and quoted the payment amount with late fees, they refused to remove the fees so I told them I’d call them back. When I called back about 90 minutes later, they informed me that they had decided to cut the locks because of non-payment (after 3 days late) and charged us another $75 on top of the payment and late fees. They claimed the $75 was due to them having to cut their lock off, which is wrong because they made us actually purchase the lock when we moved in, meaning that cut lock would be our property in the first place. When I pointed that out to them, they hung up on me. We will be leaving this storage facility immediately. Do not use this company.

Office manager needs anger management therapy and customer service training

The office manager at the James Jackson location in Cary, N.C. is an absolute nightmare. Rude, sarcastic and has ZERO customer service skills.
This location was previously owned by Ample Storage and I was very happy. Since SecurCare took over and put this "office manager" in charge it's been a horrible experience and I can't in good conscious continue to patronize SecurCare. I will be closing my account and looking for a more customer friendly business to handle my storage.

AVOID AT ALL COSTS!

I rented a storage unit at Secure Storage in Amarillo, TX offering a first month free. It was an absolute nightmare from beginning to end. First off, the man in the office showed me a unit w/the door rolled up, and unknown to me, there were 2 huge gaping holes in it where anyone can see my belongings! I didn't see it until I went to move items in. I had a huge moving truck coming w/my property from out of state and had to put them on hold because of this problem not being able to drop my stuff off. I asked about alternative units. He showed me 2 other units; one w/a bent door latch and the other w/a door that wouldn't come down once rolled up! I told him neither work. He then offered to weld the holes shut on the day after Thanksgiving. I showed up ready to get that done only to be told his mgr. told him they wouldn't do it and wanted me to wait for an outside contractor to do it and couldn't give me a date when it would happen! I then had to waste my time going find other storage places to make up for their inept and irresponsible shoddy office staff not doing their job. Needless to say, I just wanted my $ back and then was told by the mgr. it would take 6 WEEKS to get a check in the mail for the refund. Absolutely outrageous! I paid my money in good faith to these people who totally led me on just wanting my $ w/out a care as to the nightmare they leave for good, innocent people to clean up their mess. I will NEVER, EVER rent from these people again. They have serious management problems and treat customers like total dirt w/a "holier than thou" attitude that customers worship them while they sit in the office all day doing basically nothing leaving others to clean up their messes. Go elsewhere and save yourself the living nightmare I had to deal with!
