Stay away !
After waiting an hour for a shuttle, we ubered to the rental place, where we waited in line for TWO HOURS !!! After not honoring expedias price, our total was $220 more, but it was a lot of travel with kids and a dog, so just dealt with it. Waited another 35 minutes outside for the car to brpe brought around with a 1/4 tank of gas (yet they tell you if you don't bring it back full they'll charge you $8.50/gal.
Car had been in an accident with front bumper coming apart and scratches, dings, scrapes all around the car (took pics at pick up), front sensors randomly beeping for two weeks telling us sensors were malfunctioning and needed dealer service. One time, in traffic, the car locked the brakes about 10 feet behind the car in front of us, for no reason beeping for about 20 seconds, and flashing "Dealer service required" lights.
Driver's window only went down 6 inches before stopping (drive thru's had to be handed to rear seat passenger), and the car smelled like smoke. After about 3 days, I needed to get a bag out of the trunk, only to find about a dozen roaches crawling around back there. You can't make this stuff up folks !
Was going to just return the thing, but there is a "No refund/credit for early turn in", so we were stuck with it. Luckily, we're moving to PR, and knew we needed a car, so we went out and bought one on day 5. Parked the rental in the garage of the AirBB we are staying at until we close on our home purchase, and didn't drive it for a week until returning it today.
I guarantee you, everyone reading this, ANY car rental you book will be worlds better than this place.
I wouldn’t even give it a one star we…
I wouldn’t even give it a one star we rented two mini vans in Orlando and when we arrived to pick them up, they gave us a bunch of excuses. They didn’t have any vans for us. They started with saying that we didn’t have the right reservation then they said that it was expired and it was not we were there plenty of time reservation was at five. We called them at 4:45 for the shuttle, shuttle took 45 minutes to pick us up and then they sat on the computer acting like they were doing something with our reservation then they said it was expired. We had six little kids with us. There was a total of 11 of us. We had to then order two Ubers to get us to our rental homes… an unexpected expense that we were not expecting, they would not give us our deposits back. They basically laughed in our face. We did call the police, but they could not help us. This company should actually be brought up on fraud charges. Also we were there, there were four elderly people and a few other families that were also given the run around. They were forcing people to purchase transponder passes at a cost of $49 a day and in our contract, it said it was optional. Anyone who does business with these people don’t trust them if you spend a whole day traveling and then you find out that there’s no vehicles anywhere to be had. This should’ve been the easiest part of our vacation but it was the worst!!!!
Do not rent from them
Do not rent from them. Enormous hidden fees. Horrible customer service. Stay away. Scammers
Stay miles Away
Stay miles Away. Shady practices and hidden fees. NO. JUST NO.
My reservation was already fully paid. After waiting for an hour at the airport, the shuttle arrived.
During booking, the person behind the desk was forcefully selling toll pass. He added $325 on top of an already paid booking.
I refused to be conned and left after wasting 2 hours.
DONT RENT HERE
DONT RENT HERE!
I rented a car back in December which initially on the phone was only $800 something with fees taxes and everything , come to pickup I had to get insurance from a agency online they didn’t even do it then selves which brought me up to $1200! Smh. I returned the vehicle in the same condition I picked it up in and quickly received an email letting me know I will receive my deposit back. It’s not MARCH !! And I have no refund !! I’ve called corporate multiple times and all they do is send an email to the location receiving no response and being no help. They’re a scam.
Forced me buy there insurance
Forced me buy there insurance. Bait and switch company with unethical representatives/owners. Do not rent from them. Low rental prices which is unrefundable then they force insurance even if you have your own despite it being optional.
@RentAWreck is a JOKE
@RentAWreck is a JOKE. I returned my rental on Feb 2, and they STILL haven’t refunded me! It’s past their own deadline, and customer service is useless—no updates, no management, just silence. How many others are being scammed like this? GIVE ME MY MONEY! #Scam #Fraud #RentAWreck
They cancelled your reservation.
I paid in full for a week and you cancelled my reservation because i arrived 4 hours late due to flight change. I already paid for it! Should have never been given to anyone else even if its 3 days late! You left me me and my family stranded!. I should sue you for emotional damages.
I rented a car through Rent-A-Wreck…
I rented a car through Rent-A-Wreck this past August while visiting Iceland. I could tell immediately that the brakes were a bit worn as soon as I got on the road heading out of Reykjavik, but didn’t think much of that at the time. Later in the trip, after I’d put on a few hundred miles, I noticed the brakes seemed to take longer to react and that there was a high-pitched noise when I applied pressure to the brake pedal. I took the car into a mechanic’s shop in Ólafsfjörður where the an initial diagnosis of worn rotors was given. When the mechanic removed the rear tires, she saw that the two rear rotors were both heavily worn and rusted. The shop didn’t have the necessary parts to change out the rotors, so I had to go back from the direction I’d come, to Akureyri, in order to have the rotors changed out. The mechanic’s shop stayed open an extra two hours just for this job, at the behest of Rent-A-Wreck. While I appreciate Rent-A-Wreck finding an available mechanic and covering the maintenance, it would have been great to depart from the rental agency in Reykjavik with a more well-maintained vehicle.
On top of that, I was forced to pay $1800 for a scratch under the front bumper at the end of the trip, which seemed quite high just for a repair. Guess next time I’ll be getting the full insurance package. . . .with a different rental agency.
Hidden fees and pressure tactics!
Rent-A-Wreck hides hidden fees and will say they are legally required, which is not true. They will push an insanely expensive rental insurance coverage and will hold you hostage until you say yes. They will not drive you back to the airport if you take a shuttle, having to use their services. Corrupt company, it makes sense why they filed for bankruptcy.
Don’t do it
Don’t do it. Pretty bad experience. They overcharge as much as the can.
Courteous, professional service
I was recently at the rent a wreck in Burbank and I received the most professional and courteous service from the manager, Derrick Watts. I went in expecting to receive rude service, like I have been consistently receiving from blacks in sales. ( Let me inform.you that I, too am black). Mr Watts greeted me with a smile, listened attentively and patiently as I rambled on about what I wanted, and then took time to explain the process and my options. This was exactly what a rental experience should have been. I left with the vehicle that I was pleased with, as well as feeling more informed about the process. Thank you, Mr Derrick Watts for your professionalism. It was greatly appreciated.
SCAM! Expedia Booking
Booked through Expedia, called ahead to say we would be late picking up the car. Arrived and they had given it away. Then charged double for a smaller vehicle. They want $1000 as a deposit, unheard of in all my years of renting cars. Because of that we had to pay a $90 fee to get the deposit down to an additional $250. Building is not marked, you go inside to talk to someone through a screen with terrible audio. Our person did not speak very good English and had a very thick accent so would've been hard to understand even with good audio. The car was wet on the inside from being recently cleaned and we had to go look for towels in order to dry out the windows. Then when we left the lot, the parking pass did not work. All of this took almost 2 hours.
Scam Artists
Scam Artists!
The price listed will double when you arrive with tons of fees. They will force you to take their additional insurance- won't let you self insure to the tune of $45 extra a day. I was also charged random fees after the return as well. They will not explain, will not take phone calls or respond to emails. NO NOT USE THIS SHADY COMPANY!
Lied to then charged extra $250 in fees
We were asked about a SunPass in which we were told the Rent a Wreck rep where we’d be driving (to Parkland) and that area and was told by Will that we ‘shouldn’t need it’. Signed the waiver and long and behold exactly where we told him we wouldn’t be driving there were indeed multiple tolls. Charged $25 EXTRA per every toll which a total over $250 in extras fees! I called and spoke to the desk and they gave me management email. I emailed them. Did not hear back, then emailed again and they claim there is nothing they can do because the waiver was signed even though we were told we wouldn’t be driving on toll roads in the areas we were traveling to. Not a great experience.
We are clearly new to the area without experience on these roads. Guillermo Riascos Claims their employees are told to highly recommend the SunPass and maybe there are….but we were not. This is not right. Bad business.
I also booked this car rental through Expedia where I chose FLL airport rental. This is NOT at the airport!!!!! False advertising. It is located in the area of the airport. SCAM. Will never rent from
Such a shady company again. And will continue to leave reviews for everyone to see. Horrible experience. Merry Christmas to us, they scammed us into an inconvenient rental location and then scammed us by charging more on tolls than the actual cost of the rental.
I have asked Guillermo multiple times to call me and he refuses. Emails only. What kind of customer service? Management?
Stay AWAY from Here!
Stay AWAY! Rented a car in Houston thru a person online. Too many required Add-ons, service was bad from start to end! Pay a little more for a reputable company!!!
Terrible experience
Terrible experience
Had to walk to location with a broken ankle. Took forever to get the car. The car itself wasn't bad. Smaller than I thought it would be. I had to go around in the rain and dark to look over the car. With a broken ankle. I pointed out marks and he said oh that's nothing. Well once returned I have scratches (already there) had to go through their insurance company over this tiny scratch and 11 months later I'm still dealing with them. Never again will I rent from them.
If you’re late two hours
If you’re late two hours, May wasn’t there to pick you up the airport. They will not return your money. Do not use this company. It’s a scam company. Use a certified price hurts any other company but this
Actual WRECK
We booked a car from the Rent-a-Wreck online before our flight to Guatemala. We have a canadian credit card that completely covers insurance. The owners tried to charge us $400US in insurance even tho we didn’t need it considering our credit card. Also, when we arrived, an hour late because of our flights, the owner had already rented the car we reserved to someone else and told us we’ll have to wait till tomorrow to get a car. Finally, they refused to refund us.
After facing these issues with this company, we rented a car with Enterprise and the service was perfect and they didn’t try to sell us any insurance considering our card was covering everything.
Rent here to Wreck your day.
I booked through Expedia. When I called directly, the man at Rent a Wreck informed me that I would have to pay for the car with a credit card number sent via e-mail. With e-mail not being secure, I asked for a different method to pay. He said he was going to cancel the reservation.
He cancelled it. Expedia still charged me over $130 dollars. I had to book another vehicle. Expedia contacted Rent a Wreck who said they would not refund. Insane.
