Complaint resolved,

I'm updating my review from my original post. We managed to get a response from the company and achieve an agreed and reasonable resolution which I'm grateful for. It's a shame we had to go through the process of "the computer says no" and we had to resort to an online review before someone would reach out and take a measured approach.
But we got to a resolution and I have removed the post and increased the rating to reflect the aftercare shown to us. Thank you Refundable.me.

Updated - stressful but ok once a person actually looks at it.

Update:
I appreciate they have now looked into my application for a refund and sorted this out. However I do feel like it was extremely stressful and until a complaint was made there was no looking at the issue logically until someone else has looked at it. Hopefully you will look into improving this.

Old:
AVOID Purchased for a marathon, submitted a sicknote showing I can’t train up until less than 4 weeks prior to the marathon date. I also submitted MRI results showing spinal disc issues and still won’t refund me. Extremely difficult to deal with and not helpful - what’s the point in purchasing “refund protection” if you won’t provide a refund with more than sufficient evidence.

Threatened to involve the Ombudsman

Applied for a refund MONTHS ago. With the doctor’s certificate.
Never heard back.
Applied again. Never heard back.
Sent them an email 10 minutes ago, threatening to contact the Ombudsman. Heard back in 5 minutes, asking for a bit more information. Will see what the end result is….

Pure scam

Pure scam. Advertised for as Refund Protection on Ethiopian Airlines website for "unforseen circumstances". In reality, a a strict list of conditions to actually receive anything which are completely unreasonable compared to how it is displayed on the front end.

Avoid, a complete waste of money to purchase. I now have to go directly through Ethiopia airlines for a refund/reschedule, minus a big fee (which I thought would avoid with this "refund protection. Scam scam scam

If I could give this company 0 stars I…

If I could give this company 0 stars I would. We were recently unable to attend an event as my Daughter was unwell over the weekend of the event. Rather than waste our GP or the A/E depts time as we knew her symptoms were more than likely related to a pre existing medical condition which there t&c’s state you can have providing you are well enough to attend when booking the event which at the time of booking she was. We contacted the hospital she was under and spoke to her consultant. Despite providing hospital letters about her condition I have been refused a refund. Apparently her symptoms should of been foreseeable! If only I had a crystal ball! Avoid this company at all costs they are clearly only interested in taking your money and never refunding it.

Absolute scam

Absolute scam - do not use.
Refused to refund me and told me to contact venue directly, I have challenged this and am STILL waiting for a reply. Please save your money and do not pay extra for this awful service.

Rigid Policies Over Common Sense

I recently applied for a refund for a running race I couldn’t attend due to a medical condition. Despite providing a valid medical certificate, the company insisted that I ask my doctor to reissue the certificate with additional wording explicitly stating my inability to attend, citing strict adherence to their Terms and Conditions. While I understand the need for policies, it seems like common sense that someone with the condition described in my certificate should avoid strenuous physical activity. A little more flexibility and judgment would have been appreciated.
On the bright side, their response time was very quick, which I truly valued. However, the technology behind their refund process needs improvement—I encountered error messages while trying to submit the refund form.
Overall, the process felt more like an effort to find reasons to deny the refund rather than assist a customer in an unfortunate situation.
