Terrible processes all round, and booking not found

Booked and paid for a space in a Britannia carpark in Edinburgh via Parkopedia (£26.49 for 1 day + 19 hours). Received email confirmation with a booking reference number, and can see the details in their app. No mention of how to actually enter the carpark (how to raise the barrier).

Arrived at the carpark and had no choice but to take a ticket to open the barrier. Now I'm faced with having to pay Britannia another £48 for that space when I exit the carpark.

Called Parkopedia and the agent tried to be helpful - no issue with him. Told me to press the button on exit to talk with someone and explain the situation. If I'm forced to pay, email Parkopedia and they'll refund me. We'll see...

Contacted Britannia to see what they had to say. By the way, no sign of any instructions for Parkopedia customers in the carpark - just Britannia signage and Britannia on the ticket. However, when I contacted them, they bluntly said they can't help as Q-Park now run this carpark.

Q-Park tell me they have no record of my booking (reference number or car registration number), that I should have received a QR code (I did not), and that maybe the booking hadn't gone through (it had). Then they ended the chat.

Also, they couldn't tell me how Parkopedia customers are supposed to enter and exit the carpark – they say I need to scan the QR code on the way in, but I don't have one and I don't *think* there was a way to do that anyay (was stressed with a car behind me and no obvious way to enter the booking reference number - the only thing I *did* have).

Appalling service and processes all round.

[Edit: Thanks for the reply here, and also the speedy reply to my email support request/complaint]

Fantastic Customer Service from Parkopedia!

I arranged parking when I had a hospital appointment as I knew there would be no parking available near the hospital. I followed the instructions but they were wrong and I couldn't get in to the car park! It made it very difficult because I had to find somewhere else. I emailed the company, not expecting any response but thought they might update the instructions for the next person. To my surprise, I got a friendly email straight back asking what had happened and my money has been refunded in full with lovely emails apologising! What a change from some companies customer service personnel! I would definitely recommend this company if you need to have a definite space for your car. Very well done, Parkopedia and Serghei who I dealt with all the time. Thank you - you have restored my faith in people!!

Great customer service

I booked parking for Toronto through Parkopedia. When I arrived at the location there was no available parking, as the location was an alley reserved for the salvation army and my vehicle would have been towed if left at that location. I emailed Parkopedia explaining this situation. The parking was provided by a partner agency but Parkopedia dealt with this issue and I was provided with a full refund within 24 hours.

Appalling

Appalling.
Read the FAQs on Parkopedia’s site and you see “Do I get a guaranteed spot by booking a parking space through Parkopedia?”
And the reply is “Absolutely!”
Well, not absolutely at all. We booked a space in a Pwllheli car park. When we arrived the car park was full. No one was in attendance. No reserved spaces.
3 tours of the car park later, luckily someone left and we got a spot. But that was zero thanks to Parkopedia. I will never use them again.

Edit following Parko’s response:
“unexpected over-occupancy at the car park level”
It wasn’t the least bit unexpected. That is precisely why we booked an “ABSOLUTELY” guaranteed spot.

Hi Steve,

We're very sorry to hear about the experience you had with your booking, and we appreciate you taking the time to share your feedback.

While our goal is to provide a guaranteed space with each booking — and our FAQ reflects that intent — there are rare situations where issues like signage, local enforcement, or unexpected over-occupancy at the car park level may prevent things from going as planned.

We completely understand how frustrating this must have been, especially after booking in advance, and we’re sorry that your visit didn’t reflect the standard we strive to deliver.

Kind regards,

When a lot was closed unknowingly, they refunded my reservation which I greatly appreciated. They were quick with their responses and sorting everything out.

The confusing placement of in app…

The confusing placement of in app advertisement that looks like your continuing to pay for parking led to my credit card being compromised with unauthorized charges.
As well as the app is just junk and you can't actually get the parking spots that are listed.

Hi Paula,

Thanks for taking the time to share your experience — we're really sorry to hear about the confusion and frustration you've described.

Just to clarify, the Parkopedia app does not currently support direct in-app parking payments. Our platform provides information on parking locations, availability, and in some areas, bookings for select locations. These should have the word "Bookable" in their map marker.

From what you've described, it sounds like an in-app advertisement may have led you to a third-party site that’s not affiliated with Parkopedia. We aim to ensure any advertising is clearly marked, and we're really sorry if this wasn’t the case in your experience.

Please feel free to email us at support@parkopedia.com for any future queries you may have.

Kind regards,

Works really well

Easy, inexpensive and customer service was great answering my questions since I was a first time user. Have already reserved another spot for when I need to work downtown. I recommend this service.

I was nervous about using a parking service I had not heard of before. When I arrived for my reservation the garage was closed, but parkopedia happily refunded my reservation with proof that I paid somewhere else. I will definitely try to use them again since I know they have good customer service.

Scam

Scam. Asked for card details, and they stated no payment would be taken, but then attempted to take money under the name of truefitnessvideos. Bank blocked the transaction, and card. Now I have to wait for a new card, and, have the hassle of changing card details set up with other companies. AVOID.

Hi Pete,

Thanks for taking the time to leave a review. Just to clarify, Parkopedia doesn’t ask for card details to create an account, and we’re not linked to “truefitnessvideos” in any way.

It sounds like a third-party ad may have been clicked while browsing—these are clearly marked, but they’re not run by us. If there’s been an unexpected charge, it’s best to speak with your card provider and the company involved.

If there’s anything we can help with directly, please drop us a message at support@parkopedia.com.

All the best,

Parkopedia Customer Support
