I’ve been a loyal Nexo user for over 2 years and I’m disappointed that my documented case of merchant fraud was ignored because of a technical deadline, even though I provided full proof. I expected better client support from a platform I’ve trusted with significant funds.

Mastercard applies a 120-day chargeback timeframe for this type of transaction, counted from the original settlement date.

Since your purchase took place on April 9, 2024, and the issue was reported on August 13, 2025, it unfortunately fell outside the timeframe Mastercard allows for dispute submission, as we informed you in our email.

Nexo uses Sumsub for KYC

Hi,

I was a verified customer with Nexo many years ago, but after re-login to Nexo it asked me to re-verify my identity. I questioned why but they insisted without giving me a reason. After I completed the Nexo's 3rd party provider Sumsub's verification, the screen shows "We couldn't verify your identity." I was pis*** off. Because the root cause is from Sumsub, therefore I wrote an email to Nexo saying I'm going to make a 3rd complaint to the Information Commissioner's Office UK for Sumsub and you need to manually verify me. Just before I finished writing the email, I received another email from Nexo saying I was fully verified. And also the Sumsub screen refreshed with "You've been verified." I don't know if Nexo manually verified me or I've been whitelisted by Sumsub. Because I'm verified, I changed my mind to complain to ICO UK about this time, and leave a 3 star rating for Sumsub. I used to leave 1 star rating, but I'm a fair person despite the trouble caused though I ended up with a satisfactory result. However I will leave a 1 star to Nexo for asking a fully verified customer to do kyc again.

Update 20251030:
Thank you for the manual verification, I'd responded to your request in the first instance. I'm afraid I can't change the rating from 1 star to 5 star, last time with another company, the Trustpilot AI marked the change as spam which caused me to delete that review. I also don't want to delete this review because it's pretty much what happened to me.

Nexo is the perfect solution if you…

Nexo is the perfect solution if you don't want to sell identified digital assets (before mass institutional adoption), in terms of borrowing and generating yield on digital assets, otherwise sitting idle. The trade-off is 18.9% APR at base membership and you do need to trust them with your assets. They are compliant, growing exponentially and seem to have military grade custody. Nexo also sponsors the DP World Tour golf, which adds to their credibility. Very satisfied customer.

Nexo’s Dishonest Practices and $100,000 Missing – A Serious Warning

Nexo advertises that it performs partial liquidations to keep LTV ratios under 83%, but they fully liquidated my entire ADA account, charged me $35,000 in fees, and now over $100,000 of my funds are missing.

They refunded me in USDX, a synthetic coin they admitted cannot be used to buy crypto or transfer to another exchange — only supposedly converted back to fiat through a bank withdrawal. When I attempted this, they suddenly demanded “source of funds” and employment evidence.

As the CEO of a global health company, I provided bank statements, incorporation documents, and proof of employment within 24 hours. Once they realized there were no compliance issues, they stopped using regulatory excuses and began blaming an unidentified banking partner for holding my money.

Now, weeks later, I still have $100,000 missing, and Nexo refuses to provide a clear explanation of who has my funds or where they are. Their responses are robotic, evasive, and filled with contradictions — no accountability, no management visibility, and no integrity.

Be warned: Nexo is not transparent, their liquidation policy is misleading, and your assets are not safe in their hands.

After carefully reviewing your case, we can confirm that the automatic repayment in your account was executed correctly and in full accordance with Nexo’s automated risk-management protocols. When your Cardano (ADA) collateral breached the 83.3% Loan-to-Value (LTV) threshold, the system initiated liquidation to prevent your account from becoming undercollateralized. At that time, your portfolio consisted solely of ADA, meaning there were no other assets available to perform a partial repayment.

Additionally, during the liquidation period, the ADA price dropped to around $0.2850 on leading exchanges, significantly lowering the collateral value and increasing the risk of a negative balance. To protect your account from further losses during this market decline, the system liquidated your ADA balance. This process functioned exactly as designed — automatically and without manual intervention — to safeguard both your position and the platform from uncovered debt.

Regarding your USDx withdrawal, please note that it was fully processed on Nexo’s side, and the transaction is already on its way to your account. You were also provided with the corresponding payment confirmation for transparency.

We acknowledge the frustration caused by banking delays. However, once funds enter the traditional banking network, timelines depend on intermediary and partner banks, which are beyond Nexo’s direct control. Please rest assured that our dedicated team continues to monitor the process closely and will notify you immediately once settlement is complete.

Nexo operates with full transparency, accountability, and adherence to industry regulations. We can confirm that in this case, no system error, mismanagement, or procedural breach occurred. We understand your frustration and remain available to provide any additional clarifications privately through our official support channels.
