Mercury closed my account one day after approving it — no explanation

I opened a Mercury account on November 13, 2025, made an initial $100 deposit, and clearly stated that I planned to use the account for e-commerce (Amazon business). My account was successfully approved after their review.

However, the very next day (November 14), I received an email saying my account would be closed after an additional review “due to the nature of my activity.” There was no actual activity beyond the initial deposit.

No clear explanation was provided, and the decision was stated as final with no option to appeal or clarify anything.

They then mailed me a check to return my $100 — which adds unnecessary delay and inconvenience, especially for international users.

Key issues:
• Account approved, then shut down within 24 hours
• No transparency about what triggered the decision
• No opportunity to resolve or provide additional information
• Refund forced via physical check only

I understand compliance requirements, but closing a newly approved account with zero activity — especially after disclosing the intended use — feels arbitrary and poorly handled.

Very disappointing onboarding experience.

Mercury has allowed me to focus on cusomizing my sub accounts to pioritize expenses.

Mercury has allowed me to focus on growth by creating multiple checking accounts. I have my two business and my personal banking all connected right in one place. I can categorize and match receipts and integrate with Xero. It is now an essential part of my business model because trucking is loaded with expenses and overhead. I have a great system, and I am excited to look at my finances every time. Also, the graphs are fun to look, and it really is awesome to see my progress in such a short amount of time. I have so much more to learn with automizing payments and setting up team members.

Not beginner friendly

Not beginner friendly, asks for a significant deposit to provide any credit products for the business. Does not even provide credit equal to the deposit.
