The problem starts with the name…

The problem starts with the name …liquor control. It’s a monopoly so no incentive to be customer focused or strive to excel. While there are plenty of quality Canadian products the removal of US products has seen the shelves filled with second rate Canadian substitutes. If you don’t want to stock American at least increase your international offerings.

Why is the lcbo begging me for money…

Why is the lcbo begging me for money when I try to buy something? We’re collecting for this charity and that! Well why don’t you donate to your chosen charity and stop asking me for money! If I want to donate, I can on my own!

Kudos to Vanessa and Rick the 1980 Bank LCBO.

My wife and I visited the LCBO at 1980 Bank Street on Friday. Vanessa our cashier made our visit a pleasant experience. She was helpful, courteous and an excellent ambassador for the LCBO. Rick, who was the cashier next to Vanessa, was his usual jovial self. They both helped to make our day. Judy and Robert Erwin.

The LCBO’s return policy is antiquated…

The LCBO’s return policy is antiquated in a time where most respected retailers have a no-hassle return/exchange policy. I wished to exchange a bottle of wine purchased at their Danforth location (which they stock) - the product is unopened and resalable. I had no receipt so was told to contact customer service where I was first told there was nothing they could do but after further discussion my issue now being escalated. This is a ridiculous waste of time and money on both ends for what with most good retailers would be a simple process. Now they have an unhappy customer/taxpayer that is hoping for a quick demise for the LCBO and for privatization to take over.

Bad experience returning booze. But was saved by great employee

I bought three coolers for my girlfriend, thinking she would like them… as it turns out she did not. I returned them within 10 minutes to the LCBO location by my house where I had originally purchased them. The one worker at the location and Greg… super helpful and told me he just needed a few minutes to bring up the actual transaction… but his coworker Amber… was much less than helpful. She actually said in front of everyone that she’s not going to help in any way shape or form…. So I want to leave this message saying Greg was a standup employee. Amber was certainly not… This is the LCBO on the Highland and Belmont.

Retailer Not Saints

Everybody knows, or should know, that the LCBO puts a lot of effort into virtue signalling. They're always asking if you want to donate to this cause or that. For example, to donate to a hospital of some kind. This is what you have to know if you make one of those donations: not a single dime will actually make it to patient care. The money will either get sucked up in admin costs, or worse yet, be used for such things as DEI training. But, it makes the company look virtuous, which is the sole aim.

Yesterday, they were asking people to donate to "tree painting," whatever that is. In June, it's for their Pride Campaign.

You're retailers, dear LCBO, not virtue peddlars.

Everything is broken

Everything is broken. They don’t send you your order confirmation statements. You write to their customer service about the problem - they pretend it doesn’t exist. They will tell you to check your spam. You keep writing about the problem, and they keep ignoring it.
They cancel your orders, take your money and keep not refunding your money. You complain that your money was taken for canceled orders and not refunded for two weeks. They tell you to wait for five days. It has been already for more than two weeks!!!!!! Do they even read these complaints?!!!

Online service definitely not in favour of the customerOrdered online and was forced to have a…

Ordered online and was forced to have a total of $50 to complete. I added a couple of bottles of wine to the liqueur that I really wanted. Got to store and only wine was available despite the liqueur showing as available. Couldn't even make a phone call to advise me?? or advise me in the email sent saying order was ready. I didn't even want the wine. ABSOLUTELY TERRIBLE SERVICE that only the gov.t would provide

I am sick and tired of this mafia…

I am sick and tired of this mafia running organization, they have the monopoly and do what ever they want, now their return policy requires a paper receipt within 30 days or no return accepted even though they are the only ones who could provide hard liquor in Ontario and don’t take their own products back or exchang. What a shame, truly disappointing after paying so much more than many other regions for liquor in Ontario. What a disgrace.

I wanted to exchange 4 bottles of wine…

I wanted to exchange 4 bottles of wine purchased 2 days ago for a similar product. I was told there was a new policy that required a paper receipt. This is a new policy only mentioned in the very small print and nowhere near the cashiers. In spite of showing the purchase on my Amex account, there was no flexibility or understanding. Lucky LCBO has a monopoly, based on customer experience it would be a big loser. Very poor customer service, particularly from the store manager.

Was great

Was great - but quality has dropped. No one cares a damn - a high margin business run by Govt is on the back of the customers who are residents and tax payers. Govt should not run business. The strike was great example. Just privatize the whole thing and just collect taxes. Private sector will run it more efficient as long as there is competition. Beer Store was disaster as it became a duopoly. The economic pundits on the top was so dumb.

Ordered online and they use a Subpar…

Ordered online and they use a Subpar shipping courier who never delivered my order. Every time you call LCBO customer service it says "please call back at another time" because they are too busy to help customers. Liquor sales in Ontario needs to be privatized because this LCBO monopoly is disgusting.

I never did like a monopoly

I never did like a monopoly, but the LCBO had made things especially difficult to like. In the name of the almighty prices continue to rise, specials disappear and quality wines continue to be barred under the 10k bottle rule. In my real country Portugal, the very best (as in stellar) of wines come to me for under $10 and available in the cheapest of supermarkets. Thanks to whoever set up this mess. I'll raise a glass of crappy and expensive wine to you.

Absolutely terrible home delivery…

Absolutely terrible home delivery service. Ordered 8 days ago with the promise of delivery in 3-5 days. Been waiting at home for the delivery for 4 days having been constantly told by their courier Purolator that it will arrive the following day. Yet it never comes. They even refuse to refund the delivery fee!
