It was easy to register and choose an I.D. and password. It was somewhat difficult to find where to enter my information. Overall, it was a very good experience and somewhat easy.

I was hesitant at first to use ID.Me…

I was hesitant at first to use ID.Me for logging into the USPTO since my Trademark is critical to my business, but it was very straightforward and well organized. I was actually able to complete the whole process in about 10 minutes! Very high tech! Make sure you have a decent cellphone with a good camera before you start!

Avoid at all costs!!

If I could give them no stars I would. Their customer service is rude. I still can't sign on to the NC Orbit System. Too many glitches. It's ran from Virginia, but most likely they don't pay enough to get quality employees. (I hate to say this, but it would be better service if they were from India or the Philippines.) It would be easier to deal with kindergarteers or capachian monkeys than these jacklegs. They are a total waste of time. It's better to go to the post office and get stamps and snail mail whoever you are trying to contact as ID.me is definitely not a legitimate option. Electronic Communication Skills are not in their vocabulary. The way they operate, I am also concerned that my personal data being breeched is the least of their concerns.

When things are going smoothly

When things are going smoothly, it's fine. If you don't know why it just kicked sand in your face; tough. No help offered unless you've successfully finished the process. Alternate channels, whoops, must complete the process.

Adds new meaning to "the wheels turn slow"

It's a required government site, so they need to stop acting like it's optional. Since yes required, they have is over a barrel and complaints won't do any good.
If you're in a hurry, don't try anything with id.me. Just move on until you have a day where nothing else is pressing.

Provides incorrect info

I had to use ID.me to sign in to the Virginia Employment Commission. The ID.me page returns you to the VEC page to set up your account. The page itself states that ID.me has prefilled some fields. This includes the phone number. The number entered was incorrect and it couldn't be changed. During the account set up a phone verification is required, one that I couldn't perform as I no longer have that number. If my number has been re-issued to another person and they follow the verification steps, they could potentially have access to my entire profile, steal my identity, or try to collect benefits with my info.

I used chat to reach support at ID.me. After 50 minutes I was finally connected to "Ron". He wouldn't "listen" to my concern. He kept repeating the same information over and over, though I had already stated I understood what he said. He insisted I had to have VEC change my phone number in their system, yet he didn't mention how I could set up an account with an invalid pre-populated phone number that required validation to register an account.

I rarely leave reviews

I rarely leave reviews, but this experience was beyond frustrating. I spent hours trying to help my mother navigate her Social Security account after the recent loss of her husband, and the process was incredibly difficult.

We were transferred multiple times, placed on hold for hours, and received almost no actual assistance from customer support. During one verification attempt, the representative asked for a video connection. While I was trying to get the video working, the call was suddenly disconnected without explanation or any attempt to reconnect.

What concerns me most is how difficult this process must be for elderly people who are not comfortable with technology. The system feels overly complicated, customer support was not helpful, and there seemed to be no urgency despite the sensitive circumstances.

I understand security measures are important, but there has to be a better balance between security and accessible customer service. Right now the experience feels exhausting and unnecessarily stressful for families already dealing with difficult situations.

Still waiting.

This site is a joke! I have no idea how anybody who is elderly can get anything done with how difficult the government makes to get anything done! I have been trying to help my mom on hold for hours!! Called customer support and they legit said sorry can’t help you. The first time we had some guy from India (good to know our government can’t even afford to pay AMERICANS!) he says I need to see you on video. I said hold please I’m trying to get the video to work. Guy hangs up no help, no explanation, just hangs up! So since 8pm we have been on hold. It’s almost midnight! I’m here for one last day trying to help my mother who just lost her husband figure out her social security and this company makes you jump through hoop after hoop. If I could give negative stars I would. What a pathetic excuse for a company. Customer service is non existent and I feel so sorry for anybody who is an older person and doesn’t know how to use their phone to get properly identified. God bless America…. So happy my father fought in the army for what a despicable joke of a country this has become.
