Review summary

Based on reviews, created with AI

Most reviewers were let down by their experience overall. Many people were dissatisfied with the website, describing it as dysfunctional and difficult to navigate, often leading to repetitive loops and an inability to progress. Customers frequently encountered significant issues with the identity verification process, including problems with phone number verification, driver's license uploads, and facial recognition, which often failed despite multiple attempts. The customer service and staff were also widely criticized for being unhelpful, unresponsive, and difficult to reach, with many reporting an inability to speak with a human representative. Some people were dissatisfied with the overall user experience, finding the system inefficient and frustrating, particularly for older users or those needing to access critical government services. However, some reviewers did report receiving helpful assistance from customer support representatives, though these instances appear to be less common.

This is crap for government services

First off there is no tech support. Just poor menu help.

Secondly they failed to send bar code for PO verification.

Third they failed to provide directions that work for taking a selfie pic.

Fourth they don't provide any place to get the barcode resent.

Worthless website!

To handle such sensitive accounts they…

To handle such sensitive accounts they really need to get it together. Today I spent two hours, TWO HOURS trying to verify my identity, which I did years ago which i thought was the purpose of this. I have to wait twenty minutes for a video call which I'm told theres an issue because I have a new drivers license. So I have to wait until I get an email then upload something else. I upload my auto insurance, now I have to wait AGAIN. Meanwhile I need to log in to my accounts to do time sensitive things. Honestly I hate that agencies partnered with them, I was fine having my own email and password across every account. Oh, and when you call the agents are completely unhelpful. If you have my id, my passport, my auto insurance, I've given you my ssn, why is that not enough?? someone must be a good criminal if they got their hands on all that and somehow stole my face and voice to pretend to be me on a video call.

Updating my contact #

Updating my contact # from my family mobile # to my lifeline program # assigned by assurance wireless. After following steps to update my contact #, and added my new #, authentication looped back to send authorization code to my old #, this left me with no choice but to renew my plan for the old #. Retried to finish the steps, the site showed can't find my new # and was left stuck in this process.

Terrible

Terrible! It makes me verify my identity EVERYTIME! Even if I know my password and 16-character personal key, it still makes me go through the whole verify my identity process by uploading my driver's license. And what is the point of having Social Security "linked" to Login.gov when I have to verify my identity separately on both sites?

Screw up

No verification number sent to number that is the same as the day I set it it up. An accident? I doubt it.

Doge at work?

A very misleading website with many twists and turns. I just need social Security paperwork to finish my taxes..instead I am fearful of this invasive process. I will not take a photo of my license for it.

Absolutely useless

Absolutely useless. Took over 40 minutes for it to decide I'm not me actually. When I went onto the web chat they have zero answers and just told me to go to the post office. My dog could have run this better. And my dog is an idiot

Absolutely useless

Absolutely useless. Verification; asking questions that have led me to believe they are looking at somebody else? Asking questions that go back between 14 and 42 years! I can’t even remember what I had for tea last Monday? Now I am forced to go traipsing off to the Post Office for verification. Well look on the bright side.. it’s keeping the people there in a job!

ID and Selfie Verification is TRASH

The phone verification for IDs and selfies is absolutely trash. I've tried everything, soft lighting, studio lighting. It just always gives me try again messages, ONE time I was able to get the license through, but then every selfie tanked. Fix your algorithms. SERIOUSLY

The website needs improve a bit easier to use.

The website is sooo difficult to use, explains too long, repeat heavily - round and round, from one website to another, without having an ID check “start here”. also 6 security code sent but you just can’t get it where is in your email or text message? confused, need improv bit and easier to use.

login.gov is trash

: : Why has OPM decided not to mail 1099R forms, instead requiring federal retirees to use this dreadful site. I am 85 and this system is a nightmare. I have spent two full days trying to get authenticated with the two step process.
Helpful: OPM -- mail the 1099R forms.
Respectful: It is almost impossible to be respectful when OPM disrespects the users with this rubbish site.
No one answers helplines, so no one helps us. Meanwhile the IRS needs my 1099R.

Tried to verify

Tried to verify, they sent multiple texts to my phone, to verify ID, address ect. Then denied my phone. When the letter was sent NOT in 5-10 days but 21 days... the code didn't work. When I called, they told me nothing... just sat on the phone asking if I have a real question. Its bad enough I can't get UE while working on getting a new job after being laid off when the company closed, but I'm 2 months into this process and this site is the reason. And filing UE is already a pain in the A$$

15 attempts and 5 hours

15 attempts and 5 hours , I was finally identified but who ever signed off on the process should be sacked. I thought I was ok with the digital age being 62 but this one almost snookered me which would have led to Companies house fining me. I agree with all the negative comments. I gave it a poor score of 1 but really this was far too generous. Take this process down and get it fixed. The impact on people's mental health is really poor. Hopefully some one who is accountable will read and action this.
