Decent and on-point experience of moving into a new flat from abroad
Moving into a new flat from abroad certainly is no easy feat, but Haslam EA certainly made it all smooth and easy to navigate through. From viewing to contract signing, all the agents that I have interacted with definitely exercised the highest level of professionalism, communication and precision in answering any of my queries and getting the bureaucratic procedures done in such a timely order.
I must mention the two following agents (and in no particular order), Alice Baker and Isobel Lunn, for acting as mentioned above. Compared to the level of bureaucracy that I have experienced in an unnamed EU country a short while back, this was certainly refreshing and rejuvenating to experience. All matters and queries were handled and solved by them with the greatest speed and efficiency, which facilitated my move to be on-time and as per planned.
My sincerest thanks to them both. May both of them flourish as a distinguished MARLA in the future.
Very disappointing experience with Haslams
When we first moved in, the property was not properly cleaned — we had to clean it ourselves despite paying for a professionally managed tenancy. Several items were broken or in poor condition, and repair requests were either ignored or extremely delayed. Communication was poor throughout, and the property manager was often rude and unhelpful.
When it came time to move out, Haslams insisted we use their own professional cleaners, even though we left the flat in better condition than we received it — we have photos and evidence to prove this. They're now trying to make unfair deductions from our deposit, including claims that aren't true.
To make matters worse, we started receiving cold calls from strangers shortly after moving in. It appears our contact details were shared with third parties without consent — a serious breach of privacy.
I would not recommend Haslams to future tenants. Poor service, poor communication, and an overall lack of professionalism.

Reliable Experience for 5+Years
I've been renting a flat through Haslams for five years, and I just renewed my tenancy for the sixth year last month. A special thanks to Katie Wild, who has always handled each renewal efficiently and professionally, the entire process is smooth and stress-free.
Haslams' maintenance service is also excellent. Whenever I submit a repair request, a plumber or electrician usually responds within two minutes to assess the issue via Video. If an on-site visit is needed, it's always arranged promptly.
Highly recommend Haslams to anyone looking for a place to rent in Reading!

7 months no heating....
7 months no heating...
Worse company I have ever used for renting and disgusting treatment - especially by Nicky!
Had no heating for 7 months, made multiple complaints including going into their office and speaking to their head. He said "its your choice, if you don't like it you can leave".
They believe a small fan heater is sufficient as heating for a property....disgusting.
Short of taking legal actions I had no option but to move out.
Then without giving me any notice they walk into the property while I'm not there (illegal) and get a new tenant to agree to stay there at a £200 premium - STILL WITH NO HEATING!
I suspect this has been going on for several years, with neighbours confirmed that tenants have left for heating reasons for the past 2 years.

Dragging out returning deposit
I checked out of a Haslams property on 30/11/24 and I’m still unable to get my deposit back. There was a short delay when I had to recall the cleaners and move 2 pieces of furniture. However, this was all sorted by 11/12/24. In January, after having no correspondence from Haslams, I raised a TDS dispute to get my deposit back. They have even re-let the property and are still dragging on giving me my deposit back even after I have agreed the amount to be returned. I simply cannot believe this letting agent is supposedly one of the best in Reading. Such awful service! They really do deserve an absolute 0 rating.

gutterly regret using this agent for letting out my property! the utility bill name didn't change and force us to release the deposit to the tenant and then realize that the bill was all under our name without noticing and then the energy company charged us over 100 pounds late penalty and that should be their responsibity to cover the cost as they should change the bill name, only 2 weeks the tenant moved in and lock was broken without checking with us called the 24hrs handy man and charge us back another 100 pounds of fixing! as new build they should be check first with the management agent, nonsense and unprofessional agent!

Started well, went downhill
Overall I have had a generally good experience using Haslams to purchase my first home.
The gentleman who showed me round the flat on 2 occasions was very nice and helpful, and not all all pushy. This made for a very pleasant viewing experience.
Once I had put in an offer I went on to deal with Tristan, who was always very helpful and polite, and usually quick to respond to my queries, be that over the phone or by email.
Once my offer had been accepted I dealt with Fenella. I found her manner to be generally quite unprofessional and abrupt. My solicitor had raised a number of queries about the property I was purchasing, all of which were with the management company of the property to answer and therefore out of mine and my solicitor's control. Despite this, Fenella repeatedly emailed me asking if I was ready to exchange and put a lot of pressure on me to do so. In my opinion, these questions should have been directed to my solicitor and not to me, which I did tell her at the time. On numerous occasions she told me it was "urgent" that we exchanged as the vendors were at risk of losing their onwards property, and that my outstanding queries were "minor". This made me feel as though my purchase was far less important that that of the vendor's. Bearing in mind this is my first property purchase, it did not make for a very nice experience. Towards the end of the process, she stated a completion date that had never been mentioned before which led to some confusion and made her seem very misinformed and somewhat unprofessional. Overall, her involvement made the whole process feel far more stressful than it should have been, due completely to the pushy emails she sent.
