I initially used this site in 2020 and…
I initially used this site in 2020 and loved it. This is why I returned. Now I found it unwieldy, couldn’t easily see documents. What happened to all the original documents I found in 2020? I was trying to see if there were any new contributions and was going to add additional people but it seemed to be a headache. I became frustrated.

Taking money for a subscription that wasn’t authorised
I used your service for 1-2 days . And am currently being charged for a yearly subscription. This has amounted to over £80 and £16.99 a month ..
There is no way I knowingly signed up to this . I’ve contacted your customer service support e mail . And tried to cancel , to be told I’ve singed up to a year , And you have ignored it . Please reply immediately to my latest e -mail . I expect a refund and for you to stop taking my money . Shame I have to come on here and leave a 1 star review . As you have no CS .

We do offer the option of a 12 month subscription where the cost is spread out over 12 months. This is the cheapest option we have to pay monthly though it is a 12 month subscription and as such it is not possible to cancel the subscription fully, without paying a cancellation fee.
This is stated on the subscription/trial page prior to purchasing or registering for a trial.
I can also see you have reached out to our customer support team who have previously responded to you, though we will be back in touch later on today to assist further.

Misleading and taking £16.99 out my…
I cancelled the day after the trial ended. Yet you claim to have a 14 day cooling off period. Yet you have charged me now for 3 months and refused to stop charging me.....
Misleading and taking £16.99 out my bank monthly and refusing to stop. I can't prove I didn't sign up for that option unfortunately but its ridiculous. You are not a phone company or a mortgage. It's a rubbish website to help you find people related to you. Yet you think anyone would want a yearly contract?! I had no luck on it other then what my close family had already put on there which I already knew. DO NOT FALL FOR THEIR FREE TRAIL!

The reason I gave 4 stars is because I am not sure if it’s a me issue or a record issue. I was able to locate the records of who I think may have been my grandmother in the work house that the Canadian archives had. But I could find no record of what she was doing during her time in the work house for example it says she was 3 but then came to Canada at 10. Canadian records says that she was taken from her mother but nowhere can I find her mother’s name. So I need to do more digging.

I was not aware that my free trial…
I was not aware that my free trial period had ended and you automatically removed $US299 from my Paypal account. To me that is an unauthorized transaction. How did you know that my e-mail address was attached to that Paypal account??? Some very dodging things happening here!!!

We’re sorry to hear about your experience and concern regarding how payment was taken.
We can confirm the payment was authorized and in line with the accepted terms of the subscription you had chosen to subscribe to at the end of the free trial - a 12 month Everything subscription.
When signing up for the free trial, the billing terms including the trial duration and the automatic subscription renewal unless cancelled before the trial ends are presented. The payment method used at signup is securely processed through PayPal if that payment option is chosen, where you provide the relevant details so that authorized transactions can be taken. We do not independently access or retrieve your PayPal account details outside of what is provided through that secure checkout process by the user.
We can see that you have contacted our Support Team separately and they will be in touch with you shortly in regards to your account.

Can't see records!
I just joined and can't look at exclusive records, which is the point of paying for a subscription. I would like to see a function to search for individuals with the name of parents and/or spouse to minimize the "click and look" to see if it it could be the right person.

We have checked and can see you have opted for our 7 day free trial of our Everything subscription. Whilst our free trial does offer access to a large amount of records there are some records which are exclusive to a paid subscription.
Such records are labelled as exclusive on the search page, and you will be asked to upgrade to access these.
Upgrading to a paid subscription would also allow unlimited tree uploads.

Incredible resource!
What a great resource for surprising finds. I found articles in English newspapers that mentioned my German ancestors! The collections feature is especially useful for organizing newspaper articles by topic or surname and for sharing with other researchers.
