Review summary

Created with AI, based on recent reviews

Evaluating 59 reviews, most reviewers were let down by their experience overall. Many customers found the customer service to be exceptionally poor, describing staff as unhelpful, unprofessional, and often incompetent. People frequently reported issues with staff providing inconsistent information, hanging up on calls, or being difficult to understand due to accents and poor phone connections. The service itself was often described as shoddy, with many feeling that the company's processes were designed to create difficulties rather than resolve issues. Customers also faced significant frustration with long response times, unresolved issues after multiple attempts, and difficulties with online forms and account access. Some people mentioned experiencing issues with billing or delays in critical processes like mortgage applications due to errors.

ZERO STARS!!

ZERO STARS!!
LIARS!!.... I am 51 yrs old with over 30 years of credit history....well not according to Equifax, they say my score is ZERO (just like the stars I'm leaving). The logic I am given for this is that I do not currently own a credit card....HOGWASH!!! I happen to know exactly what my score is through Transunion. So I asked to be COMPLETELY deleted from equifax database and no longer have them involved in my credit history. Took 2 phone calls and 6 hours to speak to a supervisor only to be lied to and brushed off. I was told they cannot remove me from the system because they are a government corporation! (BIG FAT LIE!) Dealing with the supervisor was as productive as beating my head against the wall. Not once did I get to finish a sentence without interruption and was fed the same scripted lines repeatedly that had little to do with what I was asking, I could tell they were just trying to get me off the phone....kept repeating "we are a federal agency and connot do that" Where are the CONSUMER RIGHTS EQUIFAX?????????

they continue charging after you cancel subscription!

I cancelled my subscription with them on 20 July 2021. they send me an email confirming the cancellation. then I left the country. they kept charging me for three months after that. I called them three times, but no action, finally they emailed me again on 22 Oct 2022 confirming the re-cancellation. I asked them to refund me for the three months charges, otherwise, I will publish that they steal money, the customer service told me: "please go ahead and publish it." they do not care about their reputation.

WORST COMPANY EVER, A ZERO IF POSSIBLE

I would give a zero if possible. I needed access to my report to give to University registrar's office. Equifax could NOT find my account, then they had my name wrong not once but TWICE I have tried for OVER a month to get my information and everytime I call its a new story, software update, security update, technical difficulties. They "escaladed" 3 times and were supposed to call within 24 hours. NO call, no email no response. When I called back it was a new story, not my middle name was not spelled right. and everything takes "3-5 or 5-10" days to correct - are you kidding me....they screwed with my ability to go to law school when I was to go. And nothing was left to the last minute - as soon as I was admitted I started to get the info from Equifax..over a month now and STILL NOT RESOLVED!!!

Horrible experience

Horrible experience. I just now received an alert by email that there was a change to one of my credit accounts, and I can't log in. I tried calling the customer service number but it just tells me to log on the website... Useless.

Terrible online application

Terrible online application. Customer support only help you with paid product: $20 a month.

I tried to register for credit report (it says for free on their website). Filled out my information, then been asked to create an online account (email/password). When submitted, I was presented with an error, basically oops we messed up!
Now, I can't login -> you don't have an account
Can't change password -> you don't have an account
Can't register again -> you already have an account!!!
Called customer support after giving information for 20 minutes, they said we can only help you if you purchase our premium product, which is $20 a month!!!!!

So far, so good.

So far, Equifax has been a much easier company to work with than TransUnion. I had to seek fraud protection and everything went quickly and easily. I don't receive reports from them on a monthly basis, but I take it that no news is good news with them. If I can find where to review TransUnion, you should read the review I will write for them. It will not be good.

The website doesn't inspire confidence

The website itself is looking dated and even requires Flash to view things like score trending. It's also not a very reliable service. When I tried to look at my rating today the system generated "We apologize for the inconvenience, however due to a system delay please check back again in 24 hours."

And if you want to simply view your report summary you need to go through the steps to print it to paper first. It took me a lot of trial and error to figure it out.

Account from day one just says system error - check back in 24 hours

the company I work for had a data breach and set up with Equifax for all employees to have credit monitoring services.
So I opened my account in December 2020 and from day 1 - all my account says is system error check back in 24 hours
Results - now into February - the account still says system error check back in 24 hours4 phone calls, 2 e-mails, my company contacting the Equifax representative assigned to work with us and no action has been taking. I have asked for the account to be cancelled or functioning

absolutely nothing has been done by Equifax and I expect that nothing will ever happen - I honestly believe they Equifax just does not care

Please avoid this company at all costs

This is the worse customer service…

This is the worse customer service ever!! None of their agents cant answer the questions STRAIGHT. Its obvious that they are reading from a given manuscript or something. They charged my credit card for something that I did not order and so far have heard various stories from different agents!!! Thanks to my bank ...,

Terrible customer service, poorly trained agents

Terrible customer service and poorly trained agents.

My father recently passed away and as executor of his estate, I was trying to place a death notice and order a copy of his credit report.

I called at the beginning of August and was told to fax in specific documents, then I would be able to order his report online.

I called back a week after to confirm the documents were received (they said it takes 7 business days for the fax to show in their system). I was told that I was given the wrong info the first time and I ended having to send another fax all over again. Also, the agent said everything had to be done via fax - no online option for this scenario.

I called again today to confirm the documents were received. The lady I spoke to said EVERYTHING CAN BE DONE ONLINE by using the dispute option and proceeded to give me instructions on how to do it.

How is it that there are 3 different answers from 3 different agents for the same issue? Also, it's been almost a month of wasted time. Very frustrating.

I wanted to cancel my service with…

I wanted to cancel my service with Equifax, but keep getting an error message on the site. I've called customer service multiple times so far, but sadly can't get a representative that speaks English. I'm not over exaggerating with that claim, they do not understand a single word I say. So right now, I'm not really sure what to do. All I can say is be very careful about giving this company your payment information.

Worst service ever

This has to be one of the most ridiculous copany ever. I signed up because of my mortgage broker told me to so he can pull my credit report and until the day i die i will keep cursing that motherfu****. I am paying 20 a month for a useless service. When i tried to cancel my subscription, i couldn’t find an online link to cancel it so they gave me a number to cancel the service. I spenk 50 minutes listening to this robotic bimbo and never got transferred to an agent because they are all “busy” with other customers. This is by far the worst fu***** credit report service ever. Please DO NOT sign up before you read the reviews or you will end up like me. Thank you

I signed up for the "free" trial, don't make the same mistake!

I signed up for the "free" trial after looking over the product I decided it wasn't for me. I had to phone in to cancel as they have no online cancellation option. 1 hour later it was cancelled until the next month when I saw they had billed my credit card. Another hour on the phone and this time it looks to be cancelled. Will I get a refund? Depends on their "investigation" as they had no record of the first call (suprise, suprise). Stay away from this company, it's just too scammy and I think they are used to dealing with people in a vulnerable position.

I signed up for equifax credit checking…

I signed up for equifax credit checking in May 2019, "Cancel ANYTIME!"
WRONG.

when I finished using the service in July, I tried logging in to cancel, and I get a message saying account re-creation. I assumed it meant "re-creation" meant not active. So I tried calling. ONE HOUR on hold. I call again, a few days later, ONE HOUR again on hold. Meanwhile my account is always "needs to be re-created" meaning i can't even access it to cancel!

I noticed as the next month came, I indeed got billed even though my account needs "re-activation" for no reason... So, next I call AGAIN ONE HOUR HOLD i finally reach them! i explain my situation I could not cancel and to be re-imbursed because for that month, explaining the wait time was ricidulous, and that i have a picture proving my account wasn't even working.... they said they couldn't reimburse me.

Im not SUPER internet savy and the reasoning the woman game me was that I had to delete my internet browser history, and that the message only showed up because I didn'd delete my history since my last visit.. she also goes on to add a hypothetical situation that my facebook account does the same thing, that it logs me out and says account not-active, unless I delete my history... so I'm like REALLY!? i've never had to do that to my facebook.. even if i did,

I do not believe I'm to be held responsible for payment for an account that shows me is in-active, just because I should assume I need to erase my browser history and retry.

its ABSURD

WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE EVER.
