Complete disregard for consumer and privacy laws.
Heavy reliance and automated system reporting. Even after the error was corrected the wrong reporting was reverted back the following month without notice or human review.
Since December 2025 I have been in communication regarding clear and documented violations of Canadian consumer and privacy laws and Equifax Canada continues to violate these laws. They were more concerned about upgrading my subscription services.
They are more receptive than TransUnion but still attempt to pass blame another another firms and Canadian regulatory agencies act as mediators politely asking for compliance and tend not to enforce Canadian laws.
Equifax Canada is in violation of privacy laws since April 2025, and in violation of consumer laws since March 2026.

The CANCELLATION rep AKANYKA with a robot like script was incapable of answering any questions in between original intention. You learn fast to shut up do what u are told until finished one task. Speak only when spoken to. She referred to my request to remove an outdated phone number as a "dispute". Yikes! In fairness original sign on gent was very very helpful thus the three star. He did help me to realize that It is a good idea to monitor our credit information regularly as items can be put on that are not true or not removed when corrected. So month end include EQUIFAX CONVERSATIONS bare minimum BUT 35 DOLLARS MONTH TOO HIGH FOR THIS SERVICE. 9.99 WOULD HELP ALL PEOPLE STAY UP TO DATE. Thku Akanyka DO better next time please ie oh OK just hold tight let's get off this screeen and I'll be happy to answer any further concerns instead of SCRIPTBOTTING. I have a company that reported 6 missed payments on my credit file and the company is now fixing it but also i decided to go the extra step and fix it with equifax , sending them the proof and the correspondence between me abd the company and I got an email from them saying sorry we cannot process your request. Lol..... what a joke. The system wants to go by our credit in terms of financing stuff yet half of the stuff on my equifax report is wrong. My cell phone is paid every month on time and its on there , accounts that have been closed for years are still on there all payed off and now this .

I called Equifax several times and I even opened an account with Equifax I call them to remove the creditors that are still active in my credit report they Refuses to remove items after a bankruptcy that still show active anytime I call they’ll tell me to submit a dispute which I did several times will upload All documents sent through before anything I will receive an email saying the documents that I loaded it’s not acceptable. I keep loading correct documentation but still they will find a way to decline it. It was so frustrating. I had been going through this with them for four good months and then I ask them if it is OK to send those documents by mail. They said OK which I mail it to them with all my information IDs and all the proper documents and then I receive a email again from them saying that those documents are not acceptable and those are the right document. They had been taking money out of my account every month which is not fair. I need my credit report to be fixed and all I get is stress from them and making my life more difficult Equifax is not helping people they are making people’s life miserable and the customer service is horrible. Anytime you call them. They’re giving you information that are not correct. They keep telling you to be loading information when you do do the only thing you get decline it’s crazy. We shouldn’t be going through this. It is too much. How can’t you move on if Equifax is not removing all those creditors that are standing in your credit report it’s not that I didn’t send the proper documents. I send all the proper documents to them even mailing it to them.something need to done with this
What a nightmare to just cancel the account
What a nightmare. This fills all the required criteria of a full-fledged scam. It does not have any way at all to cancel your account online. You have no other choice but to call them. The person that was supposed to help me cancel was rude. He kept talking over me and every time I said I wanted to cancel he would start asking me the list of questions that I had already answered. I was on the line for two hours, it absolutely horrible. I highly recommend do not sign up for this bull.

Do not subscribe to their monthly membership, they consider this credit even though it isnt and will negatively impact your credit score if the payment didnt process on that date, they will make several attemps and each will go against you each time, even though they are not overdue as they got paid within the month. Terrible customer service!
Terrible customer service!! I am trying to close my deceased mother's account and have gotten three different answers as to wht needs to be done from 3 different "customer service"reps! While experiencing difficulties with an online form and calling for help, it was brushed off and I was told it was a problem on my end. So now I have to print and mail in documents to cancel this...so frustrating and useless assistance from the reps!!!
Stopped communicating with me when I tried to cancel
When we called to get my password recovered, they could not find my account. She told me that I needed to open a ticket to start over. Hung up and spoke to a second person. She found my account and we changed the password. In both cases, communication in english was very challenging. Because of this lack of service, and other factors, we decided to cancel. Called again, spoke with a third person, he reluctantly agreed to cancel my husband's account. Refused to do mine as he said he could only cancel one account per call. I would argue that this is not the case and that they are penalized when they do not recover an account. (We were offered a discount to keep on.) So, I called a fourth time, and tried in french this time. She stopped talking to me and pretended that the call had dropped when I told her I wanted to cancel. She first yelled at me that I should have cancelled with the other person and why did I call HER? She yelled. Then silence. (If she had hung up, that would have triggered a survey for me, so she waited for me to hang up) With no one speaking on the other end, after a minute, I hung up and called back a fifth time. I finally was able to cancel my subscription and would never, ever recommend this company to anyone who is looking for serious people to look after their most sensitive information.
Very difficult cancellation of subscription
They have made the cancellation of subscription very difficult intentionally so that they continue incurring monthly charges on their credit cards. They invoke people to subscribe to receive Equifax reports for an initial payment of $10 and then they will be recurring $40 and debited from their account each month until they cancel. There is no cancellation option on their website. You’ll have to call the customer service to do it. They will ask you many many questions to make you tired and try to change your idea.

Not Equifax but EquiWaste!
I wrote to them twice, once online and once by mail simply to switch betwen my former address and my current one, as they had them inversed. I provided my passport, my driver's license and my latest hydro bill. I received their standard answer that covers all the bases without telling you what is incomplete (if any): "We are unable to process your request; the necessary ID and/or supporting documentation is missing, incomplete, or it was illegible.". Which is it, EquiFax? Quit wasting people's time and simply state that you do not answer requests no matter how simple they could be.

I tried calling to cancel my subscription (because the online option has been removed, no surprise), gave the agent all the correct information, including 2 of 3 phone numbers. She tells me one number is off in one of them and that was a clerical error on my end, and proceeds to inform me that I'll need to fill out a whole form, provide identity, and that my request for a phone number change would be treated within 5 to 30 days.
Only THEN could I call them back and request for my account to be closed.
I understand why they took the option to cancel online out. What an incredibly unpleasant experience and I will never go with Equifax again.

So frustrating trying to deal with them! They make it so difficult to get an answer, Can't upload all the documents needed to dispute, so they suggest that I merge all my pdfs. So more work for me because they can't just allow more uploads instead? No way to amend or email or upload additional information. Just get told to merge it all and redispute.. But that they can't advice me on how to merge them seek help elsewhere.

And taking my case to ottawa On equifax canada I have call equifax canada many times to complain about a judgment against my name which meant for someone else whose name is dennis james maccraw but some how ended up on my file .they refused to take it out my name which is really affecting my credit score. I asked equifax to correct & delete false informations on my file, and make verification and launch investigations on the false phones & addresses. And they were supposed to come back to me with a report of their findings. I specifically made sure everything was clear on the phone call. repeating and make the agent confirm this is all the services I would receive for the payment
I agreed to a 1-time fee for this, they instead subscribed me without any consent to their Equifax Protection Subscription that charges 40$/month , and did not provide any service,did nothing.we do have any control over our data , we cannot cancel this subscription, we cannot delete payment card from account.we must call support , wait about an hour and they really make efforts to not cancel subscription, to not provide good service and waste time for alleged security reverification by re-asking to provide informations previously reported as false or outdated and confirmed would be corrected but were notand did not delete payment card from account. Note : Look at the hundreds reviews on trustpilot , you will see they never provide service, they never correct false informations, they never follow the law which states false information must be corrected in 4days after being reported.they just want your banking infos to charge you fraudulently and then not provide any service, they do absolutely nothing. then they just go on to scam the next person...

I can not access my inquiries because they have a phone number I used years ago which I don't remember because I have gone through several phone numbers. Even though I have updated my phone number on their website.

Equifax Ca admittedly during a phone that they made a mistake and merged my account to someone else’s. So now there are two persons using the account. I have called (made over 10 calls, I’ve lost count already) them repeatedly to beg for them to unmerge the accounts. But they did nothing. Goodluck to me if time will come that I will be needing my credit score.

Equifax Canada has the worst customer service I have ever experienced. Their staff do not know how to properly serve customers. They do not answer questions and often hang up on customers. My issue has still not been resolved after calling four times. How can we trust a credit bureau with this kind of service?

I signed up for a report, after I got the report I cancelled my account. I was charged the next month and tried to call. After going through 14 menus, they tell you to call back when they are open!! I sent emails, but every email you send opens a new file and NO ONE ever gets back to you. I was again charged and called, 14 menus later during work hours, I got the rudest bee with an itch, Emily. She kept talking over me and giving me information I didn't want or request. All I wanted was to cancel the account. Took almost an hour of her BS to get it cancelled. Their customer service is the worst I have ever dealt with. Zero stars!!
