My son has an resp, he is 21. We just found out that my son a university student owes over 4000 from CRA.We called Embark - on hold for over 30 mins - no answer - tried online - the person i was chatting with said he couldn't speak to my son with his questions because he was already talking to me - (?) But he couldn't give me answers.. Because he could only talk to my son ?!!I said hes here - let him answer your questions and let him ask his please. He has never had access to his account - he refused and ended the call. That was it after a hlaf an hour on hold and 15 mins of ridiculous back and forth nonsense. Not the service we were given when we bought in . I have two other children in need of an resp and this company will get none of it.

Hours of attempting to follow the instructions to access our child's education account; 2 calls to customer service, and 3 escalation emails to the company. I don't provide bad reviews, but when the 3rd escalation response did not address my question, and provided a stock answer on an unrelated process, I felt compelled to write this review. 18 years of monthly contributions, and I cannot get a live person to help me set up the digital access and that is the only way I can access the account. A far cry from the in-person visit when they were selling me the plan.

My opinion of Embark is that they might be involved in some sort of fraud. Maybe not, but, maybe also.
But, my opinion is based on recent dealing with this company.
The following is my reason.
I invested some money with the company a while ago for my daughter's education. At that time my ex-wife was the co-account holder, and I was the one putting money in. No biggie. I gave them my ex-wife's parents address so that my daughter can receive her resp down the road. I split up with my then wife. Recently, I found the papers from Embark. I called them and explained the whole situation. Theresa took my call. She said my funds were paid out on request. I never requested/received anything. Theresa said she would send me a pdf statement of my account. I said thank you.
Then, I received an email from Embark in March with the statement of paid out funds. The funny thing is that it was password protected. The password was my ex-wife's SIN. I haven't seen her in 20 years. I sincerely don't know her SIN. I emailed Embark back. That was 2 months ago. No response.
So, that's leading me to believe that some employees of Embark might be committing fraud. I called them. I emailed them. My daughter never received anything.
I hope someone reaches out to me from Embark to sort this out and assure me and general public that they are not party to an actual or implied, or them without knowing involved in some sort of fraud.

Edit: a representative finally contacted me to offer their apologies. She was friendly, but there wasn't anything further they could do.
As long as you don't need anything, they are great to deal with. I went to change my number for MFA and it has taken 25 days so far and it still isn't resolved. I've waited on hold for 30 minutes twice and still can't get it resolved. They completely ignore requests and when they do respond, it has nothing to do with my issue, just them trying to get me to refer people. I would never refer anybody to them. I signed up with a company Embark purchased, I wish I would have left when that happened. They are terrible.

all i wanted to do was change my contact cell number - you log in and then they send you a text - how the hell can i get the text if your company doesn't have my new number - answer the phone - i can wait 10 min's, even 20 if your not bullshitting me and saying 40 minutes but it is 2 hours

I received a letter from the company stating the policy I had terminated (13yrs ago) wasn't fully refunded and to contact them for refund or they would donate the money. I contacted on Jan 30/26 and was told what I needed to do to get the rest of my money. Feb 5/26, I phoned because I received an email they couldn't find my account. The man I spoke to had me send the documents again, after he found the account, he reviewed all the documents, gave me a new case# and told me I should receive a refund in 10 days. Feb 27/26, I phoned back to find out what was wrong, The agent tried contacting accounts but there was no response. March 4/26 I phoned again! After being in queue for an hour the agent kept giving false excuses and stalling for time while he made his tea, told me it would be another 30 days before I received my refund, then hung up on me. Today is March 12/26 and I still do not have my refund! This is unacceptable and unprofessional.
