I purchased my travel dive coverage through Dive Assure for the first time and have some thoughts on the entire process and experience.
1) finding a plan that met the travel needs was not obvious on the website and I had to call more than once for assistance -- > ultimately, I was helped, but not seeing the options made me look elsewhere for coverage.
2) For the first time in my life, I had to file a claim for missed dives during my diving liveaboard trip and to put it bluntly, WHAT A PAIN THE ENTIRE PROCESS AND TIMING WAS!
First, my policy had the extra coverage for a diving liveaboard trip.
Second, I'm sure I'm not the 1st person to buy liveaboard coverage from Dive Assure and needed to file a claim; so, what seemed like lack of knowledge of liveaboards came across like resistance.
The entire process took over a month with a lot of back and forth between me, Dive Assure, my travel agent, and the liveaboard company.
On my trip, there were a total of 26 dives and I was only able to participate in 16. There were some days where 5 dives were offered and I was only able to complete 2 dives from that day and I completely missed the last day.
Because I dove partial days, Dive Assure didn't count those missed dives and I only received the minimum amount back for my claim (1 day of lost diving). In reality, I missed a total of 2-1/2 days of diving, but Dive Assure doesn't count partial missed diving days.
Lastly, Dive Assure has been offering insurance coverage for a long time and should be well aware of how liveaboards are structured since they offer an add-on for people participating in a that experience.
So I was COMPLETELY disappointed when they made such a big issue over the cost of "each" dive which dragged the entire claim process out.
First, Dive Assure should know that when people participate in a liveaboard, it's an 'all inclusive' experience and cost. They should have some formula that they use to break down the cost of actual dives vs. meals vs. room, etc. but they don't and because of this, a person who needs to claim lost diving days only gets their claim filled if they missed a full day of diving vs. multiple partial days.
I realize that it's clearly stated in the policy "lost diving day" however, lost dives add up to multiple days and if the claimant can prove their case for 2-1/2 days of missed diving, then that should have been honored.
I won't be using this company again.

In April 2024 I missed my Taipei-Houston flight returning from a dive trip in Indonesia because one of the earlier flights of my trip home was cancelled and the replacement flight was delayed. I was stranded in the middle of the night alone in Taipei and forced to spend $1,000 on short notice for a new plane ticket to Houston.
I provided Dive Assure with all receipts and itineraries and my claim for reimbursement for the new Taipei-Houston ticket was denied. They said my situation was not covered.
What quality trip insurance company doesn't cover the cost of getting home in a case like this?
Dive Assure only seems to cover a very narrowly-defined set of circumstances and if your situation doesn't fit into one of their small boxes of limited eventualities your claim will be denied.
If you buy trip insurance from this company beware of exactly what they will and will not cover.
MOST IMPORTANT: Instead of booking directly with the airline if you have multiple flights to/from your destination, book your airfare with a reputable travel agency who will get you to your destination when there is a travel glitch. That was my biggest mistake. I booked my original Taipei-Houston flight directly through the airline instead of through the same travel agency I used for my earlier connecting flights. So when I didn't show up for the Taipei-Houston flight (because I was still in the air on my earlier delayed flight) it was just "sorry, too bad."
I will not use Dive Assure for my next trip.
