Wonderful birthday weekend! Turning 60 is painless, when you experience it like I did at Danland Norddjurs… Booking went effortless, communication both up to and during our trip was effective and not overbearing. Check in, even after a long fall vacation week, went effortless and the check in hostess was very informative about the various offers both at the rental and around the area.
The only fly in the ointment was that coming in to the apartment, the air was thick with the odor of fried fish, presumably from the previous renters, which could have been easily avoided with a good airing-out, while the staff were cleaning. It disappeared over time and a said airing-out, so something to be aware of, for certain.
Otherwise, the penthouse was very comfortable for 6 adults and a two-year-old, with fine sleeping arrangements and plenty of inventory. We never came to want for anything in the kitchen as well as the whole apartment.
A little unhappiness managed it’s way into the weekend, though, as the restaurant located in the main building, although convenient, left much to be desired. Well aware that they were probably closing down for the season, both staff and menu-wise, here was the quality far under the price we paid for. Not recommendable, at least at this time of year… Disappointing.
The facilities at Norddjurs were plentiful, and reasonably priced, with a good deal of the best of them free (the pools, the “indoor playground”, which was in serious disarray in this newly arrived guest’s eyes. Again, understandable after autumn school break, but still…
All in all, a highly recommendable place to enjoy the weekend, maybe a week in vacation. The surroundings are fantastic, and why Grenaa city leaves a lot to be desired as a tourist attraction, Eveltodt is much more charming, and The Kattegat Center is worth at least one visit.
All in all, an enjoyable, comfortable weekend.

Warning DanCenter Blåvand

There are lots reputable and honest home rental companies and individuals in Blåvand. DanCenter Blåvand is unfortunately not one of them. This we have learned first hand in these past few months. The lack of customer service and understanding is unlike anything we have ever experienced after 40 plus years of worldwide house rentals, Airbnb, etc. without problems.
A little background:
We (Two adults) wanted a little relaxing holiday during the Corvid lockdown this past winter. We found what we thought was a reasonably good deal with DanCenter for a house with sauna and spa bad.
The house we rented far from met our expectations, cold and dusty, with kitchen drawers either missing or falling apart when pulling out. Dials on stove, sauna and heating were worn and illegible. The spa bath was unfortunately not functioning. We (in hindsight our big mistake) decided not to make a big issue over things and trying instead to enjoy our stay. We figured that we were only staying a couple of days and didn’t want to use cost bare time complaining about irritating things that didn’t function optimal. We did contact them multiple times about the spa bad (one of the reasons we booked this house) but to no avail.
Seeing as we were only in the house for thee whole days, were only using one of the three bedrooms, and removing our shoes and jackets in the entrance before entering the house we opted to clean the house ourselves.
We used the final day of our stay cleaning the house to a standard that far exceeded the condition we found on arrival.
We checked out at the local office and received the utilities bill for our ca. 90 hour stay. The amount owed according to DanCenter calculations was
kr. 1306.30 (€ 175)!! We pointed out that this was a preposterous amount for 3 whole days but were told that that was the cost. Grudgingly we paid this absurd amount as arguing with the service personal was futile and we were on our way home. So a bitter end to a few days in beautiful Blåvand…. Or so we thought. Two weeks later we receive a mail demanding payment for cleaning. The additional costs for cleaning of
kr. 1150 (€ 155).
We found this insulting and completely out of proportion. They sent a stack of photos claiming proof of our negligence. Most were of little or insignificant “infractions” and not very visible. The time used to take the photos could have been used to tidy up the supposed infractions. No mater how much we objected outrageous amount of money demanded by DanCenter Blåvand, or our attempts to reason with them that a full payment for cleaning on top of a rental that was far from perfect, we were met by a stone wall of denial. This is after our best assessment, terrible customer service. So our 4 night stay cost us almost as much for utilities and cleaning as the rental itself!! Our little getaway to Blåvand was a expensive lesson in being nice and reasonable is not a good tactic when dealing with people who are only interested in sucking as much money from tourists as possible!
Therfore: NEVER AGAIN DANCENTER!!
If you have already booked with DanCenter Blåvand make sure to take photos of everything and anything that doesn’t meet a 6 star hotel quality …(even the tiniest dust spot on a brownish tile floor behind a sofa) and complain both physically and in writing from arrival day.
Being nice or overbearing is not a option when dealing with this company. Their mindset seams to be “how we can we squeeze every kroner from our customers without lifting a finger when needed”. They don’t understand good customer service so you have to sink to their level to avoid getting ripped off!
It is hard to prove that this systematic cheating of customers with this company but a little research on Facebook showed us that many others have had similar episodes when dealing with DanCenter.
Perhaps the Indian Oyo-concern who now own DanCenter/Danland is unaware of these local bad actors. We would hope so as it can’t be in any investors interest to be a short sited company and have many unsatisfied customers.

The usual response from this company after a bad review is to advise you to contact their customer service...
The reply after numerous contacts with this customer service was that we should take it up with the local
(DanCenter Blåvand) office.
This sounds reasonable except for the fact that the local office is the one delivering bad service and they are the problem!
It seems like DanCenter is not seriously interest in having satisfied customers

We just arrived at the apartment, and it’s looks totally opposite as it was shown at your website. Beds and top Madras are disgusting take a look at attached picture.

We even clean dust from many places, it doesn’t even cover COVID 19 standards.

This apartment specially doesn’t match your standard as stated at trust pilot.

I have also booked one more apartment for two nights right after this.

For the booking specially very disappointing and want my money back or if you have any other alternative???

This was the email I sent to lejerservice at danland.dk because local center could do any thing about it than providing us bedsheets.

Great expirience. Nice to rent small private appartements.even better if everthing worked well and were of good quality.

A little noise from the traffic, thus only 4.
But over all nice and more importantly it was clean when we arrived, nice pool and play area.

Well equipped clean house on a nice spot with beautiful surroundings. As I staid there during offseason, the office was not open, but my questions put on mail were promptly answered. On the other side, staying off season means absolute peace...
