Berlin Brandenburg Airport Reviews 

This airport alone can be a reason not to visit Berlin. The people at check-in are spending more time talking with their friends then working. The self check-in does not work as my flight have been canceled and rebooked. The security check is so slow that you can feel that you are getting older. In conclusion NEVER use this airport if possible. This is the second time I use this airport and it is just as bad as ever. Sadly 0 stars are not possible to give.

I advise reserving at least 90 minutes to pass security. A girl in front of me missed her flight, because airport personnel denied her priority to cut the line. I've never seen such unfriendliness before. When other airports improve tech to quicken the lines, BER just hires trash personnel who bully passengers. Worst airport team in Europe.. maybe the world.

it’s bad enough that there is no down escalator to the public transport!! (who does not arrive with luggage?), but today the up escalator from the public transport to the airport also did not work. Anybody on the job to fix it? Certainly not.

Only 1 person marshalling the security queue, directing people to the longest lines and then shrugging his shoulders when people complain. No-one marshalling the pre-scanning area, so there are passengers standing about who don't know where to go, but empty tray-filling areas right next to them. Not enough toilets, long waits to use cubicles and they're dirty. Not enough catering options airside. Hardly any hot food available at all. Bring back Schönefeld. Bring back Tegel.

Self check in has no person to help, in case it's not clear. The security personnel was rude when asked about different entry points. The line is long and I almost missed the flight coz of the chaos.

This is not a user friendly airport despite it's newness. My husband and I are seasoned travellers. We flew Transavia, which we do not intend to do again. Transavia did not send any reminder regarding our return flight to Paris: i.e. status, check-in, boarding passes via email etc. We had to go to their web sight directly to obtain our boarding passes.

On entering the airport, there is no sign for Transavia airlines check-in. We had to check with Information and were advised that it was 721.

We arrived early for a 14:55h flight. The only food available pre-security check-in is fast food. The staff at security were very rude. We understand that they have an important job to do and we appreciate that it can be difficult but that is no reason to be rude

Transavia uses Gate 31 out of 45 gates. It is a 9 minute walk from security to the gate. There is a people mover but it is initially hidden unless you read the signs very carefully. When you arrive at Gate 31 you need to walk down a flight of stairs. That is not easy if you have cabin luggage. Fortunately we did not. In our opinion, the signage overall at the airport is not very good.

For a new airport, the Berlin Brandenburg Airport is a big disappointment.

Security is abusive in a level that is so unprofessional I am ashamed to be a shareholder of Securitias! For of all, the scanning equipment must date back to the eightees and absolutely not modern! The only fairly modern thing they got I the body scanner, but still need to preform an abusive body scan by hand, so that tool is just for the staff entertainment and to add on do a manual body search inside the trousers…. SECURITAS GET THE F-OUT OF THERE IF YOU CARE ABOUT YOUR BRAND! To the airport: get modern tools so your security is safe, fast, and most of all non-abusive.

It is by far the worst Airport in the world in every single aspect. There is nothing positive about it, absolutely ridiculous

Terminal 2 has to be the most underwhelming modern airport building designed to date. The vast space is taken up mostly by perfume alcohol etc in the duty free section which cannot justify the space when there is only a very poor sandwich shop - understaffed and really terrible coffee; and a really cheap looking sausage type fast food facility. They need to totally rethink the user experience. This does not represent Berlin well enough and is not giving travellers the final memory such a great city deserves.

Poor airport in terms of lounge access. As a frequent traveller the lounge access at Berlin Airport is very poor. When will this be improved.

The security staff really do make rudeness and and the abuse of position an art form. Nobody has heard the word “please” - instead it’s regarded as much better to shout instructions. And if it isn’t abuse passengers are being mocked.

I will never fly though Berlin again. It is the most inefficient airport. Never have I experienced the ridiculous slowness that was unnecessary in the security line. The staff was extremely rude, the agitation of the passengers was off the charts. Fly into another German airport if you need to go to Germany. I found some of the staff to be authoritarian in spirit, Nazi like. Do you know it’s illegal to refer to someone in Germany as a Nazi? The descendants of Nazis have outlawed calling someone a Nazi. How ironic is that?

I was in line to get my boarding pass and a man of Middle East origin, clearly sexist, pushed me past him and after that he was disrespectful, he had his son and wife with him, yelling at them, but what surprised me is that nobody did anything, not even those at the airport. I leave Berlin with a bad taste in my mouth even though I love the city, I don't know how they allow this to happen. Where is the police? I have to tell the origin because I am really fed up with this sexist behavior.

Today, 50 Ryanair passengers scheduled for a flight to Lisbon at 11:40 AM, that were ON time at the security checkpoint, 2 hours before departure, couldn’t manage to board the plane due to the slow staff. They’re also frequently extremely unfriendly. Upon complaining at several information desks, the Airport staff tried to put the blame on the airline. How on earth is the airline responsible for the security checks?? An absolute disgrace. WHERE CAN I REQUEST A REFUND AND COMPENSATION?

The worse airport ever. I travel very often and have never seen anything like it. Speechless. They left thousands of people stranded due to very long delays in the security check. We waited over two hours. Staff is rude slow and defenitly understaffed. Nothing positive to add, horrible experience.

Terminal 2 had only 2 security control lines opened with lines of flight passengers stuck for > 90 min. So many missed the flights!
They communicated horribly - they should have redirected ppl to go through terminal 1, but instead they promised we will make it.
Crazy bad airport.

If I could give this airport zero stars I would.
I recently travelled to Berlin to run the Berlin marathon, it was a great experience and I thoroughly enjoyed my time in the city and planned to come back but my experience at the airport has put me off ever visiting the city again.
We arrived 2 hours before our flight which is standard practice. We were sent to several different security check points before finally being allowed to join a queue. The queue time said 40 minutes, which still would have given us enough time. This was not the case, we queued for 90 minutes and this was after spending nearly half an hour being sent to various other check points.
I pleaded with the staff to the point I was crying and having a panic attack to let us through, but the staff were all rude and unsympathetic and we missed our flight. We then had to spend a fortune on new flights and go through the whole security issue again, only just about making the new flight we had booked. The whole situation was extremely upsetting and stressful and has put me off visiting this country again. I have travelled to many countries all over the world and have never experienced this.

I travel frequently and have worked in the air transport industry, both with airlines and airports. Unfortunately, every week I’m subjected to the painful process of going through security at Berlin airport. Never in all my travels have I encountered such a level of incompetence and laziness at a security checkpoint. The staff move at a painfully slow pace, and despite having 7 to 8 people working each lane, they manage to process just one person per minute. This isn’t because they’re more thorough than at other airports—they’re simply worse in every way. On a good day, expect to waste at least 30 minutes getting through. On a bad day, hope for anything less than an hour. At all times, the staff seem completely indifferent to the fact that travelers—their customers—need to catch flights. Their laid-back attitudes are frustrating, especially considering the stress many passengers experience. The unfortunate reality is that this is a monopoly; there are no alternatives for flying into Berlin, and I suspect the German unions share part of the blame. Ultimately, this poor experience only harms the airport. It leaves a bitter taste and makes you reconsider not just flying into Berlin, but even spending a single euro at the airport.

Dreadful airport. Massive queues in immigration give yourself at least an hour both ways. Security is a nightmare. Terrible organization. German airports all seem so badly staffed

Worst airport I have ever flown from. I flew here 2 years ago and it was bad but I put this down to lack of staff, still relatively new etc. Security took nearly 2 hours and out of 40 desks, they had 4 open. Fast forward to 2024 and nothing has changed. Was due to fly from T1 and they shut security as it was "busy" - it wasn't... made us all walk to T2, then took another 35mins to process us. Then, had to walk back to T1 with multiple confusing misleading signs. I will not be back which is a shame as Berlin is a wonderful city and old Schönefeld was a great airport.
