Very long waiting times, especially for passport control, bur sometimes also the luggage. I travel to and from this airport reguralily and it usually takes about 2h to get out. No priority lanes for... See more

The absolutely worst airport ever
The absolutely worst airport ever; inefficient, rude and unhelpful staff and massively overmanned, with lazy slovenly staff just chatting. Avoid at all costs.
How the CEO hasn’t been fired is a mystery.
Insane how bad this airport is
Insane how bad this airport is. It's really a joke. It almost makes you laugh. No staff knows english (at an airport???). The security part was chaos, to say the least... we had to wait 2 hours because they closed the second opening so there was just one opening left (!?). And when they was directing that queue they put them at the far back instead of putting the queues together as you of course should. Crazy. The staff were super slow and rude. Didn't want to say anything in english to tourists which is the weirdest thing I've ever experienced at an airport. For example he wanted me to put back the bins, said I did it wrong and when I said "say it in english" he either couldnt or didnt want to. And it happened many times to several of us. Never going back here, and I can see I am far from alone.
Some other things: The baggage printer printed out the baggage thing wrong. Very badly signed, very unclear where to go. Bad information. And this is really nasty: it is so dirty. Try going in to any of the toilets, it is insane. We went into at least three and it was pee all over the wall, trash and paper everywhere, smelled awful, and nothing worked, including the moving drying towel. It was hanging down in the floor. Crazy. Truly looked like nobody had cleaned any of the bathrooms in months.
Not what I expected at all from a developed country, I guess you never know. Worst airport Ive ever been to and Ive been to so many airports, including ones you would expect not to be the best. And this one was the WORST one. Never going back and same with everyone I know, stay away if you can for your own sake.
Security felt like an Assault!
Going through security after going through the scanner was a horrible experience. The female security officer only spoke to me in German and I could understand her. When she was patting me down she kept touching my stomach. I backed away and protested. She said, Du wuncht polizei holen. Ich sah dich lachelt mit deiner Mann. I smiled at my husband! I raised my t shirt a little and asked if I should remove a small belt. Then this Frau put her hand inside the front of my trousers. I am almost 80 years old and travel often but have never experienced anything like this before.
Smooth and efficient
I flew from Birmingham to Berlin and comparing the two, the UK airport is a real embarrassment. Berlin has excellent public transport links by bus or train and taxis are everywhere. The bag drop, check in and security were slicker, faster and well organised. The airport is clean, modern and easy to navigate in complete contrast to Birmingham.
Terrible passport control waiting time
2hour flight followed by a 1.5hour queue to get through passport control at terminal 1. What happened to German efficiency?
Avoid if you can! The worst airport ever!
The securtiy control and people that guide people to security is the worst ever in this world! They are rude and they don’t guide apropriately. They send me from the central security control to security control 1, then to Terminal 2 which is a bit of walk with heavy items on my back.
In terms of airport experience the air conditioning is very bad as well as the distances to navigate through are very long.
AVOID IF YOU CAN!!!
Brandenburg happy days, Munich dreadful.
Munich airport was the worst airport I have experienced in 45 years of travelling. I read the reviews for Brandenburg and my heart sank.
However we experienced friendly helpful staff in a bright modern airport with good clear signage clean fee free toilets and good departure lounges. Great experience and worthy of some praise.
The good onward travel connections are…
The good onward travel connections are about the only positive about this airport. However, no Sky train or shuttle connection between the terminals: you walk miles and miles...
Lost baggage department is badly organised and understaffed. My delayed baggage arrived within 24 hours, but ground handling staff needed SIX days to get it to me within Germany. Completely ridiculous! I kept being told that I can collect my baggage myself at the terminal.
Toilets are far and few in between and dirty. The little girl next to me: "This gets a ZERO rating." Food and drinks are overpriced and choice very limited. All cash machines charge you extra for withdrawals, even in Euros. Not enough seating provided.
Hard to find security check
Modern airport but hard to find the security check, all the security check in right in front are priority lanes. You need to ask staff to find regular security check ins which are on the extreme ends of the hall. No signs to guide you, you only see if you like in this direction. Very slow security check as always in Berlin - probably world record.
TSA staff were so rude and rough
TSA staff were so rude and rough. I did not understand what she was saying when she toldd me to turn around im German and instead of saying it in English she pulled me around. I told her she did not need to touch me becasue i did not understand. She started raising her voice and yelling we are securituy that is what we do. Two others chimed in. I told her they let you know they will be touching you in other countries
She BOSTED WE ARE IN GERMANY. I am a bit darker complected with dark hair. Was it rascist l, I do not know.
She man handled me when checking around my chest. Have never been checked like that ever and fly often. Also I had three lighters and they pulled my bag and told me i could only have 1 and kept the rest. He was giving creepy vibes. So pack your other lighters if you have them. It was orginzied and orderly. 6:00 am. Just be prepared to be treated poorly
Security staff or SS officers??
Thanks for the true experience, truly living up to the former german dictator-officeer feeling when going through the security control. Staff pulling in your arms, telling you to look straight forward. Then basically telling you to f#@ off.
Suprisingly very racist since she only did that to my partner and the rest with black hair and darker skin. When we tried to joke about it together she told my partner off, by asking us to move.
A fellow passenger that went through before us also shared the same experience and aknowledged us by saying 'yeah they were super rude to me aswell'. Do I need to say he had black curly hair and dark skin too??? Truly unbeliveable...
This is the way you treat paying passengers, who actually are customers?
Absolute worst airport I’ve ever been…
Absolute worst airport I’ve ever been to! I consider myself a fairly frequent flier. It is disorganized and staff is very rude and disrespectful.
How can an airport be so bad
If I could put 0 stars, I would.
This is the worst airport I’ve ever been to and unfortunately I have to travel often here. My experience each time is worse than the previous ones. The stuff at the security is the worst. Slow, incompetent and rude. They can’t seem to decide on the security rules and change them based on how they woke up that morning. The waiting time, even when booking the fast lane is crazy. Always calculate more time than you think you need for a normal control and if possible avoid this horrible airport. I have never ever faced the issues I’ve had here, blows my mind each time. Shame that it’s in the capital.
Not a single plug that works in the…
Not a single plug that works in the whole departure terminal. Loads of charging stations but all of them are dead. Seriously what’s the point of that?
Chaos
Chaos at Berlin Airport. Long queues for passport control, dirty toilets, and a one-hour wait at the car rental desk—only to be told we were late for the car we had booked. My advice? Avoid Berlin at all costs. We're now flying to Poland to rent a car and will return to Germany only if necessary.
absolutely complete chaos
absolutely complete chaos, most disorganized airport I have ever been too. Shocking. only 2 passport checkers working exceptionally slowly to check multiple flight departures. multiple people missing flights notwithstanding allowing 60-90 monitors pass thru passport control. do not be fooled by monitor that tells 5-19 mins to gate. you need to allow minimum 90 minutes to gate closure if you are to have any chance of catching your flight. terrible
Time British Airways pulled out of Brandenburg
Time British Airways pulled out of this airport, it is an embarrassment to Germany and to BA 's reputation. Arrived on time to then be held like cattle, while they only put passport control officer on non EU gate, giving a 2.5 hour wait. Staff disorganised and saying 'well that what comes of Brexit'. Future business trips will be via Prague.
I would give it zero if I could
I would give it zero if I could. I just waited 2hours to go through passport control on arrival. I am a native Berliner and live abroad travelling back several times a month. It’s better to fly to Munich and then take the train to Berlin. honestly. Also every other flight they loose your luggage and expect huge waiting times everywhere,
Perfectionists in being rude
It is already the 8th time I am travelling through Brandenburg, and the only reason why, is the lack of sustainable alternative. Yet every time the airport staff manages to beat their past performance in being utterly rude. Shouting towards passengers, or ignoring them, throwing with their personal belongings, speaking German to foreigners. Is it their KPI to make the experience of passengers as miserable as they can or do they try to compensate for lacking some crucial skills? Brandenburg airport staff makes me think of Tegel employees: they were equally unhappy and unpolite. If you want to have a prison escape experience fly over to Brandenburg airport!!!
Won’t be back after reading all the…
Won’t be back after reading all the rest of the reviews, after an hour delay a 15 minute wait on the plane then over an hour waiting to get through passport control totally ruined the two days I had booked to stay
