Simple and hassle-free experience
I had a very positive experience with Berent. From the first contact, the team was always helpful and clear in their communication, which made the whole process very smooth. The vehicle was in excellent condition, clean, and exactly as expected.
I would especially highlight the speed of both pick-up and drop-off, with no unnecessary bureaucracy. There is a genuine care for the customer and attention to detail that really makes a difference.
Without a doubt, a trustworthy company. I will use their services again in the future and highly recommend them.
Avoid this place
The car itself was fine and the location is convenient, but the way this company operates is borderline fraudulent and completely dishonest.
They do not accept debit cards, and on top of that they INVENT extra deposits on the spot. I was forced to pay a €500 deposit for the Via Verde (toll device) with a debit card (€200 if you have a credit card). This condition was NOT stated anywhere during the booking process.
When I pointed this out, the staff member blatantly lied, claiming that this information is shown at the beginning of the booking. It is not. There is absolutely no mention of it.
It gets worse: I explicitly asked the manager whether this deposit would be returned at the moment of car return, and he clearly confirmed that it would. When I came back, they suddenly changed their story and told me I have to wait up to 15 days.
This is unacceptable and extremely unprofessional. Changing conditions, hiding fees, and providing false information is not how a legitimate business should operate.
I expect my money to be returned within the stated timeframe. If not, I will not hesitate to take legal action.
Avoid this place at all costs.

This is a review of BeRent / Benerent car rental at Lisbon airport. This is an absolutely fantastic and friendly Portuguese car rental company. I don't know if they are new but they have very new-looking business premises and a modern electronic paperwork system. Everything was clear, logical, fast, and straight-forward. The only additional advice I can give is to make sure you will have the ability to phone them so they can pick you up from the airport.

Meeting at the airport went smoothly. The woman who gave us the information about our vehicle and got us going was very kind and friendly. Returning the car was seamless and we had the same person help us with the return. Super service!!

The worst rental experience I’ve had…
The worst rental experience I’ve had and I rent alot of cars. They wanted to charge me €70 cleaning for some sand, I took the car to the local fuel station and spent €1 and 5 minutes hoovering the sand. Then they claimed damage on the underside of the front bumper where it’s likely scuffed the curb when parking for €190, you can’t even see it from a standing position, I highly doubt that damage will ever be repaired they’re just pocketing the €190. What seems good value when you’ve played their game isn’t and there is a long list of rental companies to choose from, price and customer service is the only thing you can compete on, the price was ok, the service was terrible, not alot going for the company, plenty of better ones around to choose from.

Easy pick-up and drop-off at the end. Customer service was smooth, with staff very polite and making everything straightforward. I booked directly and opted for the most comprehensive insurance, which made the whole process even easier. The only downside was the transport between the airport and the pick-up location — it’s a minivan service that runs, but not frequently enough. We were lucky to get on quickly, but others behind us had to wait a while.

Great customer service! Everyone we dealt with was extremely helpful and patient. We were renting two cars for a large family trip, where both comfort and space were important, and the team provided us with excellent options to choose from. Both cars were clean, comfortable, and in excellent condition, which made our trip much smoother. I will definitely be renting with Berent again.

Great Rent-a-Car Experience
I rented an SUV from BeRent for three weeks and honestly, it was phenomenal. The whole process was super easy and stress-free, right from booking to handing the car back.
The SUV itself was spotless, really comfortable, and perfect for what I needed. It felt great to drive and I never had to worry about a thing during the entire trip.
What impressed me most though was the service. The team were genuinely friendly, helpful, and always quick to answer any questions. You can tell they really care about their customers, which makes a huge difference.
After three weeks on the road, I can honestly say this was the best rental experience I’ve had. I’ll definitely be going back to BeRent next time I need a car.

Professional service
Top service, straightforward transfer from airport, car in excellent condition, service was very professional throughout. The rent a car location is very clean, very bright.
Also no pressure sales, if you do not need zero limit damage waiver, they do not insist. The car was filled with petrol.
I had my car for the weekend for an unbelievable price.
The first transfer was safe, just that it could have been a bit smoother.. The transfer back to airport after the rental was safe and very relaxed.

No flexibility
I arrived to pick up my reserved car, but BeRent refused to release it because I didn’t have a credit card - even though the booking was fully paid through the platform. I offered alternative forms of guarantee for the security deposit, but the staff showed no flexibility or willingness to help. While I understand the need for policies, the rigid attitude and lack of customer support left a very poor impression.

Don’t get scammed
Don’t get scammed, use another rental service.
Note this is this location near the Lisbon airport.
When we picked up the car they did a damage walk through. There were dozens of scratches and small dents on the car. I have never rented a car before with so many dents but I assumed it was normal for cheaper rental.
Upon returning the car, the employee asked if I had taken any pictures the day I picked it up. I said no. He then pointed out a small scratch (about 4 cm long and thin over the front drivers side wheel). He then informed us it would be 190 euro, which is the minimum they will charge for a scratch.
I asked if he had photos with a timestamp to prove that this one scratch, out of the dozens of them, had been caused by us. He had one blurry picture that proved nothing. I am quite sure we did not cause the scratch but regardless, 190 is rediculous. It looks like it could be buffed out with a cloth.
When he brought the manager, he was extremely rude and patronizing. Wasn’t wearing a name tag of course. He got us very worked up and made it seem like we were crazy. It was an awful experience that left us feeling bad.
It’s pretty clear from the way the manager spoke to us as well as other reviews here that this is how this company operates. I suggest paying a bit more to use another rental service, where the cars aren’t so banged up that the employees can’t even keep track.

Beware hidden charges.
I was given the option of cleaning the exterior and interior of the car myself before returning it or paying €10.95 for Berent to do it.
I have never had to pay a cleaning fee in all my years renting cars
The fuel gauge showed 86% full on collection.
Within 7kms, the gauge had dropped one 'click.'
The 'activation fee' for the toll fob was c.€10.50.
Another excuse to rip off the renter!
They also block a whopping €2,000 on the credit card if, as I did, have my own insurance.
This is by far, the most my card has ever been blocked.
The Berent office is a good distance from the airport.
I will not be renting from them again.
There are many more car rental companies on site at the airport who do not hit renters with 'artificial' charges.
