Not Great.

Unfortunately went through Ryainair booking flow; firstly, hidden costs come to the surface immediately.

As nice as staff were at Dublin Airport, there were a few sneaky expenses that if you're not clued up you might miss. E.g. Asking for second drivers licence, without asking for named driver and adding expense. Pre-purchased insurance also is made to sound like it won't be valid, but infact it just means you have to pay upfront costs first before recovering.

Booking said "Polo or similar" - initially received a Fiat Panda which is not similar. This was also dirty with a flat tire; the staff swapped immediately which was good to a Suzuki Vitaro. Saved the experience from a 1 star!

Perfect

Friendly, fast, no-hassle Dublin airport rental at a great rate...with car at the airport (no bus ride!)

Return was also so, except for offside Return with bus to airport...but very quick, no waiting.

Waited an hour for shuttle bus from…

Waited an hour for shuttle bus from Dublin Airport to car park. All the other rental companies can round three times while about 20 people waited. Terrible.

Average rental experience

I have been an Avis Preferred customer for a number of years & have been very satisfied with most of my rentals. I have however experienced the quality of vehicles supplied by Avis Ireland at Dublin airport to be at best average. My most recent rental (from 17th - 23rd March) is a typical case in point. The rental was a Suzuki Vitara with over 20000 km on the odometer. The front of the car had multiple paint scratches & I had to take photos before departure as prove of the damage even though the damage was not recorded on the rental agreement. The car felt dated & certainly not of a standard I would expect from a premium brand such as AVIS. Had this been a ‘one off’ I would still have been disappointed but having rented a number of vehicles from this location I have been disappointed on nearly every occasion.

Quick and easy

Quick and easy. Got what I paid for and no high pressure to upsell at the counter. It was pointed out to me that I hadn’t purchased the insurance I preferred so it was added with no problem. Check out was just as easy and the shuttle to the terminal was pleasant and hardly any wait time.

First class

Faultless experience. Lovely, new car. Easy to pick up and return.
Accidentally left a good pair of sunglasses on return. Called the desk the following day and spoke to Geraldine. Totally professional and very efficiently resolved the problem. She located the glasses, called me back and then posted them back. No fuss, just great service.

Great Experience

I had a great experience this trip using Avis/Budget services in Ireland. I have had excellent reception/delivery and advice from the staff. I received the car delivery right at the terminal for being an Avis preferred customer. The car I drove Toyota Corolla hybrid was such a joy to drive. I highly recommend Avis/Budget car hire in Ireland.

Avis Dublin is not what it seems - AVOID

Avis Dublin used as part of a BA fly/drive. But car owned by Flynn Bros Rent a Car, who used Flynn Bros Garage to charge Euros 1,200 for a tiny chip in the windscreen, which could only be spotted with a magnifying glass and was probably there when the car was collected. Thought we were dealing with a reputable, international company. Feel likes we have been scammed.

Excellent service , great staff

Alana at Avis Car hire City of Derry airport was extremely helpful when I recently had to hire a car at short notice due to a family bereavement .
As usual the staff are friendly , helpful and very professional .

This was a disaster!!

This was a disaster!!! The first car broke down after 77km, I had to call AA and still ended up driving the faulty car back to the depot. The replacement car had completely worn break disks totally unsafe to drive so I had to cancel everything and get a bus. I also enjoyed the service desk lady rolling her eyes when I returned with the replacement car with worn break disks as if I was the issue!!! Very classy touch. Also enjoyed having to pay €40 for using a faulty car.

I can see that a replacement car was offered to you, but you refused, and as a gesture of goodwill we ended your rental 10 days early. It is our policy that we do not refund unused days but given the circumstances, an exception was made, and you were only charged for the time you had the car.

Overcharged in Dublin because we live in UK sterling area

We have been overcharged yet again. How could we possibly be charged in sterling for a Dublin hire paid for with an AIB euro denominated card?

We have asked for a full explanation and be fobbed off. This sounds like a scam

Today Fri 6th Feb Avis asked me to contact customer service.

This was done over a week ago.

I was informed I was overcharged due to human error. The error was I was charged in sterling rather than euro. It has not been explained to me how this could happen when the bill had been finalized. This matter still needs to be resolved.

Avis at Dublin Airport


I have rented with Avis at Dublin Airport several times this year, each time for extended periods, and overall my experiences have been very positive. In fact, based on previous rentals, I have recommended Avis Dublin Airport to several friends.

On my most recent rental, I encountered two issues: an incorrect charge for additional insurance appearing on my final invoice, and a tyre pressure warning shortly after leaving the airport, which suggested the vehicle checks had been missed. While this was disappointing, I was extremely impressed by how the situation was handled once I raised it.

The customer service team responded quickly, acknowledged the error, and processed a full refund without hesitation. They also took my feedback seriously and escalated the vehicle preparation issue appropriately. The speed, professionalism, and transparency of the response reaffirmed why I continue to choose Avis.

Issues can happen, but how a company resolves them matters most. Based on the excellent follow-up and customer care, I will continue to use and recommend Avis Dublin Airport in the future.
