I’ve had a policy for a home insurance for a year. After it has renewed new DD was set up yet Granite tried to collect the payment few days earlier than the date given by Acorn. I was then told I have to pay £25 admin fee for missed payment. When I raised this up with Acorn that’s when the trouble started. I spent hours in the phone, spoke to at least 7 different people and none, absolutely none of them knew what’s going on nor was able to help. I then decided I want to cancel the policy which was still in its cooling off period, again, it was a constant battle with totally unprofessional and at times rude agents. Eventually my policy was cancelled free of charge and I was offered a £50 compensation on top of that. I was advised I will received it within 10 working days. I confirmed my bank account details and was actually happy. Money never came in, so I chased this up. Again got a phone call to confirm my bank detail, which Acorn already had anyway. Yet again I was told, 10 working days, and what ? Nothing, silence, no money, no response to yet another email i have sent. I’m only thanking a good god I have never had to claim under my policy as probably I’d never see any money from the claim.
I’m disappointed as Acorn seems to have good reviews yet the service I have received is nowhere near even one star. Please be aware and look elsewhere if you’re thinking of getting any business with Acorn and their sister Granite company.
