NOt sure if I believe quality

NOt sure if I believe quality. I've spent over $600 this year and over $300 last year. While testing a sterling bracelet I picked up at an antique store with a simple magnet it did not stick . It was also stamped Stirling and by the artist. So I decided to test my purchase from Nizhonitraders.
Sterling silver will not stick to a magnet. So I tried the two Navajo pearl necklaces I purchased this year and both necklaces stuck to the magnet. I have an old pawn I spent over $900 and it didn't stick to the magnet.
Tells me the beads are made of something else. I will be taking these into a jeweler to check the silver content. I will post an update!

Hi Melinda,
Your conclusion is incorrect, and we want to clearly address the misunderstanding.

A magnet test is not a valid method for testing strung Navajo pearl necklaces. While the beads themselves are solid sterling silver (.925), they are not strung on sterling silver wire. Sterling silver is far too soft to function as a stringing material. As is standard in the jewelry industry, Navajo pearls are strung on steel or other reinforced core wire, which will attract a magnet. The magnet is reacting to the stringing material—not the silver beads.

Testing a bracelet or loose sterling item is not comparable to testing a strung necklace. This is well-known within the trade and does not indicate misrepresentation or inferior quality.

All of our Navajo pearls are authentic sterling silver, properly stamped when applicable, and sourced directly from Native artists. We do not sell plated or imitation jewelry—period. You are welcome to have the silver content verified by a jeweler.

We stand firmly behind the authenticity of every piece we sell.
