A bad experience that put our lives at risk
We booked a Jeep to go to the mountains (Cervinia), and when we got there, we were given a different car.
The lady at the counter tried to charge us more for things that were already included in the booking. We had to show it to her, cause apparently, she had no access to this information? Be careful and have the booking documentation with you so they don’t double charge you.
The booking was inclusive of snow chains ("catene da neve").
When we got to the top of the mountain, we got to a point where it was obligatory to use snow chains, and the road was very slippery. When we stopped to put the chains on, surprise: the chains were wrong sized, chains were smaller than the tire size and we could not use it!
The car started to slide, and we were lucky enough to be just a few hundred meters from the hotel where we were staying.
We paid for an extra driver to be able to drive around during our holidays, however the car stayed the whole time in the garage because it wasn’t safe enough to drive without the chain due to the snow conditions.
These people put our life at risk! Thank God the day we had to drive back was not too snowy, but we had to drive very slowly and be very careful to not cause any accidents.
When we returned the car and I told that to the lady at the counter, all she said was “I’m sorry, please email our customer services”. What for? If it was her and the Europcar Torino Airport team who did not do the bare minimum of checking what they’re providing to their customers?
And now, am I getting at least a refund for the extra driver fee and for all the days the car was locked in a garage since no one could drive or use the car during the whole period? If I knew your services were that bad and unsafe I would have travelled by bus or train, cause there’s no point in renting a car for 10 days to keep it locked in a garage cause it’s unsafe to drive it.
It was a bad experience that put my life and the lives of my family at risk. I do not recommend them! I have photos and video to proof the lack of competence in ensuring the safety of the service provided.
