What should have been an exciting new kitchen has turned into an incredibly stressful and frustrating experience with Wickes.

From the outset, I had made clear that I wanted my kitchen installed around the end of August, as this coincided with when I would normally be off work. Despite this, my installation was initially booked for the beginning of August. I subsequently agreed with the installer to move this to the beginning of September.

Due to delays on his part, he then asked whether the installation could be moved towards the end of September, which I agreed to accommodate. I was subsequently contacted again and told that the installation could not take place until mid-November. I had also been advised that the installation itself could take 5–6 weeks, potentially taking the work right up to Christmas. This was simply not workable for me.

Wickes offered an alternative installer. I had already made it very clear that I was working to a fixed budget, but the replacement quotation left me facing costs nearly £5,000 higher than those I had originally agreed and budgeted for. This simply wasn't financially viable.

I contacted the Perry Barr store directly because I was extremely upset about the situation and became quite distressed during the call. I was assured that the Store Manager would contact me, but despite subsequently emailing the store and asking for someone to speak to me, I never actually spoke to the Store Manager.

After repeatedly trying to resolve matters, I eventually submitted a formal complaint and requested cancellation of my kitchen. My complaint was escalated to senior Customer Care and I was assigned a case handler.

Unfortunately, this has not improved my experience. I have continued to wait days for responses, chase for updates and question information being provided about my own case, while still waiting for my formal complaint to actually be addressed.

The latest incident has left me completely exasperated.

Last week Wickes sent me a delivery schedule showing that an item was due to be delivered today. I immediately contacted Customer Care, explained that my kitchen was being cancelled and was already the subject of a formal complaint, and was specifically assured that I would not receive the delivery.

This morning, a stainless-steel kitchen sink arrived at my home.

The apparent lack of communication and coordination throughout this process has been astonishing. I have spent an extraordinary amount of my own time chasing, explaining and trying to resolve problems that I did not create.

This whole experience has caused me a considerable amount of unnecessary stress.

My formal complaint remains ongoing and I am still awaiting a substantive response and confirmation that my kitchen order has been fully cancelled.

I will update this review when Wickes has formally concluded my complaint.

My mum was having a bathroom fitted by Wickes, Perry Barr. Birmingham in August 2026

From start to finish all wickes staff have been friendly, professional and willing to assist at all times, cant fault any of wickes staff during this process. From bathroom planning to delivery and installing the bathroom. Wickes have been on point.

I would like to thank all staff involved with making mums dream bathroom come to life. And the finished product is amazing.

The customer service and staff were impeccable always approachable.

We would like to thank Andre -who assisted us with the planning/design stages.

Pinny, Angela and Matt who helped us along the way, sorting out the flooring and making us feel at ease answering any queries we had.

And the biggest ‘shout out’ to Nav and his team who installed mums bathroom. From start to finish, they were on time everyday, worked full days, cleaned up, left no mess in the house after they left, no messing about and got the bathroom installed with no problems and he kept mum informed with the bathrooms progress all the time.
Nav and his team are professionals and a credit to Wickes. If you are able to choose your contractor for any installation, pick NAV and his team. Best decision you will ever make. Thanks Nav and Wickes. Job well done xx.

BUT - how the fitters want you to change your design. Or don’t turn up. Then u get one. Avatar Kitchens. He stuck to the plan.

Then Wickes don’t deliver all your kitchen products. Doors missing.

Tell you to wait a further 2 weeks. Then still don’t send them. They’re not sending you notifications. But updating the fitter? I am the paying customer.

Then there’s the HIPPO bag. They cannot seem to organise a removal. My family dinner had that yellow HIPPO BAG front and centre. After nearly 2 weeks. I contacted HIPPO directly and in less than 24 hours, they moved it.

Would I recommend WICKES Kitchens NO!!

My next project is my bathroom, not from WICKES.

Now you want paying. Compensation is what I need. I was excited about my kitchen, now it’s disappointment.

Sean the person who served me went above and beyond.

He knows the products in the store and was able to assist me.

After my recent awful experience at BnQ he proved that staff do know their products

Great experience at Wilkes Perry Barr today. I was served by Teresa on the paint mixing isle, she was very knowledgeable and helpful, recommending the appropriate type of paint for my job. I would definitely recommend this service to others.

We visited to parry bar branch today and the staff was very helpful . Thank you.

I went to Wickes to buy some cement and one of their staff members (Ryan) was extremely helpful with helping me load the cement in my car! He also helped me find the cement I was looking for. Will be coming back

I've been into Wickes a few times in the last two weeks to get paving slabs, sand and cement. Teresa was there on two occasions and was very polite, pleasant and helpful. She helped me put the slabs onto the trolley and then with another colleague put them in my car. I can't thank her enough as I was with my daughter. Ammaaran was at the till and gave a warm welcome. Thank you Teresa and your colleagues for your friendly customer service and assistance, much appreciated.

Another visit to this store and absolutely mind blown by the knowledge held by the manager, Shaiba. She knew exactly where everything was and when I showed her pictures on my phone of what I needed for delivery, she knew the codes, without looking it up!! I've never seen anything quite like it. I'm pleased she was in today, she was great last time, but today was another level. I hope the upper management realise what a legend they have in this branch.

Visited this branch today and even though it was a very busy atmosphere, I was helped out by Shaiba. I'm an OAP and not very good with lifting or walking around but I told this lady what I needed and she went and got the bags of stones on a trolley and even put them in my car for me. Very helpful and puts the men to shame!
