I recently had an eye test at Vision Express in Halifax. The staff were friendly and helpful and the optician was professional and explained everything clearly. They help you choose your frames when you are struggling and are really approachable. An all round 5 star experience.

I can't complete one of the tests so have to get my eyes tested once a year, but they know this and they remembered.

Excellent service
I visited Darlington branch for an eye test and contact lens check up. Mohammad was very thorough testing my eyes and explained the checks he was doing and discussed altering my prescription to balance near distance with long distance.
I also chose new glasses and Megan was very helpful in assisting me choose frames and explaining the difference lenses available.
A very good service overall with helpful and friendly staff.
Extremely disappointing and frustrating…
Extremely disappointing and frustrating experience with Vision Express Canary Wharf.
I cancelled my contact lens scheme, yet a £45 direct debit payment was still taken from my account afterwards. Since no lenses were delivered, I requested a refund back in March.
What followed has been months of chasing, repeated emails, delays, excuses, and complete lack of proper follow-through.
On 8 May, Vision Express finally admitted there had been a “system error” and confirmed in writing that my £45 refund had been approved and would be returned within 5–7 working days.
That deadline passed. No refund arrived.
I then had to continue chasing the matter yet again, despite already having written confirmation that:
* the scheme was cancelled,
* no further deliveries would be made,
* and the refund was supposedly processed.
It is honestly shocking that a large national company can fail to return such a small refund for months while forcing a customer to repeatedly escalate the issue, contact Head Office, involve Customer Care, and consider a Direct Debit Guarantee claim through the bank just to recover money that should never have been taken in the first place.
The most disappointing part is not even the £45 itself — it is the complete lack of accountability, poor communication, broken promises, and the amount of unnecessary stress and wasted time caused by this situation.
I expected professionalism from Vision Express.

Walked in to look for new prescription Sunglasses. I was seen to straight away and was helped to find suitable frames. The whole process only took about 40 minutes and sunglasses will be ready in approx 2 weeks.

Not so Good
Two weeks ago I ordered new glasses frame Persol + prescription lenses , Over the weekend when it was sunny I noticed some strange streaks. It's strange that the lenses specially when back of the head is turned to sun leaves those uncomfortable streaks. My two colleagues have the same transmission photochromic lenses using glasses for 20 years and they never experienced this kind of strange problem, they advised me to go back to shop which happened today . Arrived to Brent Cross shop just the few minutes after 10am .. there was one gentleman who was loudly speaking : I want to speak to manager ! Something like they didn’t add exact number or … simply he wasn’t happy . I thought this people know what they doing …
I showed the person who works at vision express fotos of my lenses strange streaks , she just added my glasses for 5 second under some blue machine and said : Nothing wrong with glasses .. I don’t know if is really nothing or should I take people at vision express seriously or not , I’m confused.. I asked a few people if anyone had a similar problem as me..everyone is fine. about a month ago in the Swiss Cottage vision express I returned brand new TF + optics , The transmission was not covering lenses about 2mm from the frame, This is the second time the lenses are not well made. I won't 100% go back to them, but at least I know what kind of service they actually have , example : when I paid for my frame and optics didn’t received any confirmation email just one message : your order is ready to collect from Brent Cross

After visiting the bury st Edmund’s…
After visiting the bury st Edmund’s store for my recent eye test I was very impressed by the professionalism of all the staff. The optometrist was very knowledgeable and thorough throughout the exam explaining the change in my prescription. I also have to give a special mention to Adrian the dispensary clinician who went above and beyond anything I have ever experienced before in helping choose my new glasses/ sunglasses. Explaining everything in great detail regarding the gap in the nose bridge and differences in lenses to give me a wider field of vision. Very helpful indeed .

The glasses however are pricey.
