PAY EXTRA TO FLY WITH ANOTHER AIRLINE

PAY EXTRA TO FLY WITH ANOTHER AIRLINE!

Do not give this airline business.

$40 at check in desk and $110 at boarding gate!

Closing off on a brilliant trip in Vietnam, we encountered nasty staff at the gate. Bearing in mind we had already paid extra for luggage at the check in desk.

The only way I can describe the staff is like animals! They had stopped multiple people with bags making them pay extra, they purposely delayed the flights while they made people tap with their cards.

They were putting their feet and leaning on the scales to add more weight to the scales (they have multiple scales at the gate, like a printing money machine).

I have never encountered anything like this anywhere or at any other airport around the world. I can’t get over this experience, they were pulling out of people refusing them to fly until they payed extortionate prices.

Staff was so rude I would NOT RECOMMEND FLYING WITH VIETJET!

A TRAUMATIC EXPERIENCE, AVOID AT ALL COSTS.

Flight time changes less than 12 hours…

Flight time changes less than 12 hours before my flight, by 4.5 hours. Any other airline this should be a refund.

I went to a the desk to discuss it his with the ground staff. One didn’t speak English which is okay, passed me off to another staff member who was eating food and just laughed and didn’t greet.

Rude staff that don’t know how to handle conflict.

Absolute worst airline experience

Absolute worst airline experience. My flight was delayed twice with zero care from the staff. On top of that, the seats are incredibly uncomfortable and have terrible legroom. To make matters worse, the food is completely overpriced and poor quality. Save your money and your sanity — do yourself a favor and do not fly with this airline.

My experience was positive

It is sad to see just negative reviews on this airline as it got me very stressed when travelling SE Asia mainly Vietnam. But my experience of VietJet was nothing but positive, none of my 3 flights i took with VietJet was delayed, my 4th was but only by 20 minutes which is very standard for all airlines to happen. I get people have other situations and experiences but don’t let this just deter you from using this airline.

They stole money out of my bag that was checked in. It was money collected from different countries and worth almost 0. Only emotional value, yet they took it. Never will fly with this company again ever

Very Poor service and rude ground staff

1. All Ground staff behaviour is very rude, they do not listen anything and not able to communicate.
2. Inspite of confirm booking they changed the flight for mire than 5 hours without any confirmation.
3. My Carryon was much below but then they forced to put food item and water which I bought just to increase the weight so that they can charge additional money.
4. Even during checking they are saying to pay extra at checkin counter, otherwise they will scatter the seat.

I recently travelled with Vietjet Air…

I recently travelled with Vietjet Air and had one of the worst flying experiences I’ve had.

As a low-cost airline, I had low expectations, but the service was below even that standard. On the 8.5-hour flight to Vietnam, there were no in-flight entertainment screens, and the included meal was just rice with mixed vegetables and very poor quality. We received only 2 small bottles of water for free. Coffee and anything else had to be purchased. My seat also didn’t recline at all.

The return journey was worse. At check-in, the staff were extremely slow and appeared to be distracted on Facebook while processing passengers. It’s concerning to see staff on their phones during working hours.

The worst part was at the boarding gate. Staff weighed my carry-on, handbag, and my child’s backpack and claimed they were 2kg overweight, demanding $180 to proceed. When I pointed out that they had weighed under 7kg each at the check-in counter, I was told that if I refused to pay, the fee would double. I’ve never had an airline weigh handbags before – it felt like a tactic to charge passengers extra.

I wasn’t the only one this happened to; several other passengers had the same issue.

Overall, the service was poor, the staff were unprofessional and rude, and the experience felt focused on extracting extra fees rather than customer care. I would advise anyone flying with Vietjet to double-check their carry-on policies and be prepared for addtional charges.

The bad experience started before we…

The bad experience started before we left home, Vietjet canceled our flight 2 weeks out and rebooks us for a flight 2 days later. Firstly we have connections so that does not work and they bumped us from business to economy for which I am still awaiting a refund for the difference in price. Only after 5 phone calls did they change our flight to the day prior but wait still no business class seats available. The aircraft are in terrible condition, with seats broken, tray tables snapped, arm rests with packing tape on them to mask the sharp edges. The trip home was terrible, while they have good check in allowances they weigh both check in and carry on at check in but here is where they get you. If you buy duty free they add that to your carry on weight and it generally tips u over the limit. My wife is a lawyer and Vietnamese so she spotted the scam straight away. The girl who weighs the carry on wanted cash only even though there is an eft machine with her and she seems to make numbers up in her head. Funny part is our combined carryon with duty free was 1.5kg over when weighed 1st time and when I asked to see it again it was 3.5kg over but when I demanded she zeros the scale it went down to 1.3kg. My wife calls her out as a scammer in Viet but it does not phase her. After speaking to other passengers they had identical things happen to them. What I realised later was in the gate staff told me not to check in a small carry on even though we had another 47kg allowance. Amazing how easy the people can scam u. I should have read the Trip adviser reviews before booking as so many people get the same scam. Don’t bother thinking the food they serve is fit for human consumption as I feed my dogs better quality foods, many passengers returned their meals including us, I listened to an Indian passenger tell the staff this food is less than dog food. To round up what happened we booked business, ended up in economy both ways, I’m arguing for a refund of the difference in airfares, the aircraft are in terrible shape, food is terrible and service ?

The Vietjet Transit Trap. Approved in Manila, penalized in Saigon, and threatened with offloading due to their failed IT

Today was my first and last time flying with Vietjet! In 250+ flights from economy up to business class, I have never experienced such poor and unprofessional service.
At the check-in counter in Manila (VJ 859), they checked my bags, tagged them, and everything seemed perfectly fine. However, during my transit stop in Saigon (flight VJ 801 to Bangkok), the gate staff suddenly hit me with a penalty for my personal item (laptop bag), even though my carry-on was only 6.8 kg. Their reasoning: "We don't care what Vietjet says or does in Manila, this is Saigon and we have this policy."
Fine, rules are rules. But when I explicitly agreed to pay, their payment terminal didn't work. It took the staff forever to get a replacement, which then refused to accept both my American Express and my Visa card (both of which were perfectly fine and used just minutes before at the airport).
Instead of finding a solution, the gate staff started threatening to close the gate and leave without me because of their technical failure. Eventually, I had to ask a random, kind passenger to settle my bill and transfer the money to him via bank transfer.
The staff seems trained to enforce policies at all costs, even when their own infrastructure fails. Absolute nightmare management. Save yourself the stress and avoid this airline.

The needle policy and the incompetence and lack of empathy of Vietjet’s staff seriously endanger diabetic travellers health.

Good morning,

On our flight on the 30th of April 2026, we took a flight (VZ416) from Chiang Mai to Phuket on which we were told to leave my diabetic needles and tubes as a checked in bag.

We argued with the manager on duty that this has never been an issue with any other airline and they told us it is company policy for “safety” - keep in mind that these needles are not even 5mm long so I do not understand whose safety is Vietjet referring to, but definitely not mine.

We were assured time and time again that Vietjet have many diabetic patients that fly with you and that we would have her bag handed back into her hands at the gate of Phuket. This did not happen. The safety and care you promised to take with her life-saving equipment was chucked into the luggage control like any other bag.

This is absolutely unacceptable and since then, I have used a whole month supply of needles in less than 48h, having to do many changes in my treatment because they have stopped working. Since speaking to my primary physician, she informed us that UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES should the needles be kept in checked in luggage - backed up by the SIGNED DOCTORS NOTE that we gave Vietjet’s flight staff to emphasize that it could NOT go in checked luggage. The isuline tubes can freeze under extreme conditions, cause the plastic to harden and the insulin to leak - information we told Vietjet’s staff.

Due to this, our trip is now in danger of being cut short because of Vietjet’s complete disregard of the nuances of a chronic illness.

I put down my story because this is not an “oops”, this is something that can threaten my LIFE. I really hope that this doesn’t happen to no one else, it’s absolutely unacceptable, inconsiderate and irresponsible from Vietjet.

I had a very bad experience with this…

I had a very bad experience with this airline. It is one of the worst airlines I’ve traveled with. In India for checking they charge extra who gave the money they gave priority to them They don’t provide food — you have to pay extra for everything. They even charge for handbags and laptop bags in Veitnam airport which is very unreasonable. The staff was rude and unhelpful. After arriving in Vietnam, they kept asking me to open my luggage again and again for checking, which was very frustrating. Overall, it was a terrible experience.
