Pet Care Advice
Customer Hub
Pet emergencies can happen at any time – including when your regular vet is closed.
That’s why our nationwide network of out-of-hours pet emergency clinics are open through the night, at weekends and on bank holidays, so we’re ready and waiting to provide expert pet emergency care when your regular vet is having some time off.
Our pet emergency clinics are the pet equivalent of A&E and our purpose is to give you and your pet the care and support you deserve, at the time you need it most, whether it’s four in the morning or in the middle of Sunday lunch.
Vets Now provides this trusted service to more than 1000 veterinary practices across the UK — from over 60 dedicated out-of-hours clinics and two 24/7 pet emergency hospitals. In total, we treat around 200,000 small animals every year — our highly-skilled team works hard throughout the night, weekends and Bank Holidays. So whether you’re in Aberdeen, Belfast or Portsmouth we’re there for you and your pet when you need us most.
We’ve also pioneered other ways to help pets, pet owners and the veterinary profession, such as our comprehensive referrals service and providing our staff with industry-leading training and development opportunities. We also support the pet blood transfusion charity, Pet Blood Bank UK. Meanwhile, our two hospitals — in Glasgow and Manchester — are home to some of the UK’s leading specialists in the field of emergency and critical care and provide care 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Dreadful experience in north Hykenam Lincoln branch caused my dachshund and myself distress the staff were aggressive kept the door locked so couldn’t get in for emergency appoint after 3 calls of our arrival finally unlocked the door & member of staff came out being rude then she called 2 large nurses who seized my dog took my dog into a room & wouldn’t allow me to be present they stated they did a blood test they did not then presented me with my dog stating he had to be put to sleep” demanded the £550 in advance while he was sitting by my side crying as distressed as we were inseparable )by bank card before then immediately putting him to sleep never received an invoice of costs then started doing hard sell on cremation and urns at £350+ the experience I will never recover from the object of their itinerary was to get money not to look after my pet they made me feel I had no choice? They lied with the information & were aggressive for money then on notes sent to my vet lied about my behaviour it seems that was more important than my dogs prognosis ?
It has now become suspicious that my dog was poisoned by a neighbour if the blood test had been done as stated if would have been proven .
Staff dreadful service dreadful money costs to poeple that are vulnerable
Once seen, my cat receiving pain relief which worked well for the 45 minute drive back home on Sunday 16th August.
Also advised me that be better getting x-ray at my own vet surgery as wouldn't be as expensive .
We paid £302.50 for a Saturday evening consultation, which is five times more than we paid for a consultation with our regular vets on the same morning. Both vets were competent and helpful. IVC Evidensia, who own Vets-Now, claim that out-of-hours prices are high primarily because of the cost of staff salaries. However, the factor of five mark-up from daytime rates at our own vet suggests to me that an unacceptably large part of the price goes towards delivering shareholder value. The market needs a substantially greater degree of regulation than it currently receives.
Can't fault the clinical care for my cat which had had an accident with a car. Eye-watering costs though, as a number of other reviews note. They've got you over a barrel really, knowing they can charge what they like, knowing you're going to pay, because you have no choice. And yes, I know OOH care costs more, but we can't control when pets need help can we?
Everyone involved in Mabel’s care was incredibly professional, while also being so kind, compassionate and caring. We are ever so grateful, because without their thorough checks and wonderful care, we might not have Mabel with us today. We simply cannot thank them enough for everything they did. We would absolutely recommend them to anyone — Mabel could not have been in better hands.
Having previously used Vets Now at our local vets I was surprised to find that this time I was talking to a central number instead of the receptionist at the vets. The questions asked included a number which were superfluous for me having previously been a customer. I certainly did not need help finding my local Vets Now nor it's address and directions. You can save time by asking the question first and listening when the customer says they have used Vets Now and named the surgery. The central number means that we have lost the initial discussion with a veterinary qualified person who could possibly save the visit from being necessary. Surgery Staff were excellent and all proceeded smoothly.
Very kind & gave good advice. Extremely caring & gentle with our cat.

When I arrived receptionist was expecting me and knew my problem. My dog was triaged immediately with options clearly explained.

Friendly and sympathetic reception and reassuring and competent examiner whose surprising diagnosis has turned out to be correct. An important service available at otherwise a difficult time to get advice (a Sunday evening).

Caring & compassionate with a thorough examination. We hope not to return! Thank you ☺️

This was our 2nd visit in a month. The staff were fantastic as always. It was particularly busy and they dealt with it in a very professional manner, especially as it seemed some people had attended for repeat prescriptions and not emergency care. Probably the same type of people clogging up hospital A&E Depts!
All the staff treated us with respect and compassion and clearly have the animals best interests at heart. Everything is explained clearly and in a non patronising or condescending manner. I completely trust these vets and in an emergency would not take either of my dogs anywhere else.

Amazing team. Were very honest about the wait time when I arrived. The receptionist was lovely and understanding for everyone’s worries. No one wants to have to spend time at the out of hours unless they need to for their fur babies. And the VetsNow team worked as quickly as they could for a very busy waiting room. My kitten was looked over and treated with the best care to help get him back to his normal self.

Following an emergency on Sunday with my reactive dog Tucker, I called the vet. I did have to wait outside for a long time but the vet Zuusan (not sure on the spelling) was amazing. She listened and answered all questions. She got on the floor to calm my dog and he warmed to her immediately. I cannot fault her care. The receptionist was also kind and took time to ensure Tucker was relaxed.

Excellent vet and quick appointment but price of the medication was excessive in my opinion. £19 to dispense each medication which was paracetamol and probiotics. Then the price of the drugs on top. Otherwise a good experience.

The service was very good but the pricing was outrageous. You are taking advantage of pet owners who are in a difficult position requiring out of hours treatment.

We were kept fully informed of the progress of our cat. The staff were very friendly and answered all our questions.
