Review summary

Created with AI, based on recent reviews

Looking at 368 reviews, most reviewers were let down by their experience overall. Customers frequently complained about extremely poor customer service, exceptionally long phone hold times, and completely unhelpful communication channels when trying to reach support agents. People also experienced deeply frustrating payment delays, unexpected account and check holds, alongside unresponsive branch staff during their regular visits. Some reviewers were happy with individual staff members who provided kind and professional assistance during challenging banking visits. These specific employees successfully resolved difficult problems, offered great personal support, and genuinely made a positive difference for those customers. A few consumers noted that these helpful interactions helped them avoid major financial losses or successfully clear up disputes.

So I had a fraudulent transaction

So I had a fraudulent transaction, and I called customer service 3-4 times within last tonight to this morning and no luck with my dispute, only being told to wait and wait wait and wait, so I think this is the worst bank I’ve ever experienced, never had a fraudulent transaction never get recompensed, and I feel like I’m kind of being scammed, I don’t know what to do, and this is crazy

Truist Bank doesn't come through when you need them most

Truist Bank consistently ranks below standard in customer service. I now understand why. I have been a business customer since they were BB&T. I opened a second business account after the merger. I recently experienced fraudulent activity on my business debt card. I currently traveling away from home on an extended trip. I needed a replacement card sent to my location rather than to my home. The problem is that they can't send to a different address in less than two weeks! No exceptions even for a long time customer with two business accounts who is traveling. My current tour doesn't allow for staying in one location for two weeks! A few years ago in a similar situation American Express sent me a personal card replacement overnight to my hotel. That is service. Truist doesn't even provide customers with a way to file a complaint. My business will be moving as soon as I return from my travels.

I was charged $10 maintenance fee

I was charged $10 maintenance fee. I immediately called and was told I needed to keep an average balance of $1,500. I immediately made deposit to reach that amount, and also received a refund. A few days later I was charged $10 again. Spoke to someone that told me I had to have the $1,500 balance every day of the cycle. I asked to speak to a supervisor. Supervisor name was Tammy Stanford. I explained they were misleading people by calling it an average balance instead of a min balance. I explained I brought my balance up on the same day I found this out and I didn’t think it was fair for them to charge me again. I told her I was unhappy and would be closing my account. She said ok…they will do everything in their power to charge fees. Even mislead people!!!

Invalid card transaction

I am a customer. I had put a stop payment on something and changed my debit card. I have had a temporary debit card and was issued a new debit card and this transaction showed up as pending. It should have automatically declined since the debit card # they had was inactive. I have to wait on this to drop before getting my money. Some banks would have been able to immediately make my funds available. I have other stuff that I need to pay. How was a transaction put through on an inactive debit card?

Too much wrong with this company

I opened an account with Truist because I lived in a small town and there was a branch nearby. The staff at the Caddo Mills Tx branch are very friendly and helpful. However, Truist Bank Co. as a whole is not what I expected. I opened two accounts. One account for bills, to ensure there was always enough for bills to be drafted out. Another account for everyday use and shopping. I have had several bank cards due to fraudulent activity. One time I received my new card and had it one week before another transaction from the same company hit my new card. The customer service representative didn’t block future transactions from this company, so I had to order yet another card. Now, I am dealing with my paycheck being held for 9 days for review, even though I have deposited several checks into my accounts from the same company (my job). I cannot touch my money until the end of next week. I have no groceries, no way of getting to work, etc. This is ridiculous. They even charged me $1.00 to have my check available in my account that day and took that out, but didn’t clear my check. It’s been two days and I’ve been snacking on pretzels since I cannot grocery shop. Now, my account has been hit again with fraudulent activity and the representative assisting me stopped our call in the middle of fixing the issue stating “My system is updating, I will have to call you back. If not today, I’ll call you back tomorrow”. Are you serious? I will be closing my accounts and taking my banking business elsewhere.

Questionable Banking Policy…or profiling. If the was an option for no star…

If there was an option for no star that’s what I would choose. We deposited a cashiers check from Bank of America to my son’s account, which is in good standing with Truist Bank. Truist put on hold on the cashier’s check for 10 days. Customer service was a joke! they have yet to give a logical explanation as to why. There explanation is that’s it’s there policy to hold the cashiers check until it’s expiration date, before the funds are released. I have been with this bank over 20 years as far back as when they were Suntrust Bank and have never encountered such policy. I would understand if the check was a personal or business check, but a cashier check from a reputable financial institution take 10 days to clear? What’s the value of a cashiers check from Bank of America if Truist Bank have to wait until the expiration date on the check prior to release the funds. WOW.

I don't know about this bank

I don't know about this bank. I had Sun trust and always liked how they operated, like a big bank but small town feel. Now you can't even get someone to look you in the eye when you walk in. Forget customer service these days. Looking for a credit union now.

I am a 73 year old widow

I am a 73 year old widow and I had a problem for two years with Truist that affected my credit score. I made three visits to the bank and today Mike Corniel finally solved my problem. He was so kind, patient and professional with me. He deserves a raise ☺️

Little to no customer reps available inside bank

Past 12 months, only ever have one customer service rep in lobby. Today zero at counter & one who has 3 customers waiting . This has become a pattern yet bank space is HUGE which means they must have been busy at some point. No longer. Looking for other banks

I have been a customer for 15 years…

I have been a customer for 15 years now. They do not put the needs of the customers first. I will be closing my accts here asap. I spoke to a manager Lewis and he was arrogant and no help or compassion at all. He totally did not care about losing me as a customer.

We had an overdraft over eight months…

We had an overdraft over eight months ago. The bank caused this a company that had paid us decided they were going to change banks so they sucked the money back out even after it had already been spent a smaller check of just five hundred dollars. TRUIST CAUSED THIS. They held our other 3.600 hundred dollar check two times and then the next time they kept citing overdrafts and overdrafts and overdrafts that don't even exist. Now today they spouted that shit again. My brother went down there and went in the bank and the teller had no problem depositing it. WE had to drive all the way back home and run out a full tank of gas at five dollars a damned gallon. Just for that lying teller we dealt with at the window to be playing games. I knew SunTrust would turn into complete trash when they merged with those crooks at bb&t. How many times are they going to hold our check from now on until the end of eternity because of an overdraft you caused. Is it going to be a fight an a hassle every single solitary time we try and deposit a check from now on until the end of time. No you want to draw interest off that big check for the ten days you can hold it every single time we get it. It's why you don't try and hold any of our other checks.

No courtesy, only excuses

My wife and I had made an appointment to renew our CDs. I had reached out to the individual who had assisted us once before. Her name is Marinda Sourinphoumy. We had agreed to meet her at 10 AM this morning at the Short Pump branch. Upon our arrival we were told that her schedule had changed the day prior and she wasn't working in that branch today. My question is what happened to the courtesy of a phone call to inform us of the change? We've banked with Truist (BB&T) for nearly 30 years and have a significant balance invested there. Unfortunately there is no relationship with customers at this branch any more, particularly since the SunTrust merger. Now, in all honesty, another individual (Bayleigh) and a trainee (Jordan) found the time to assist us which we appreciate. However, in spite of their apology we were given an excuse (they were short staffed, things were so busy, etc.). An apology would have been closer to sufficient while anything more came across as we don't value your business. We've decided its time to find another bank that feels otherwise! We're very disappointed.

This bank has constantly let me down

This bank TRUIST BANK has constantly let me down! From always blocking my card over everyone I make to leaving me stranded in another country with no money because my card wouldn’t work! When I got to place where I could call the bank they said all they could do is send me a new card to my next location at my expense even thought it was not my fault! Then they said I could still transfer money on the app, so then I go to do that ! They locked me out of my account ! I called again! I answered ever secerity question they had except 1 and guess what it was!? ( tell me the date you opened this account) do you know that question ? Does anyone!? So because I didn’t know that they would not unblock me and still I had no money ! They they tell me the only way to open it back up was to go to a branch! Did I tell you I’m in other country , no branch! And they denied me access to my money! I had to have my daughter wire me money to get me home ! Still no resolution can’t get to a branch they don’t care ! Really what does one have to go through to get help over the phone ! Really one question ! I gave them all my info and because I could not tell them when I opened the account they said can’t help you not even sorry ! I wasn’t asking for a loan ! It was my money I worked hard to save and they decided no! I have call bbb! Left formal complaint I’m going to post this on every social media page I can!

Truist is the worst bank I’ve ever dealt with

Truist took over a loan of mine without my knowledge or consent. It has been absolutely awful dealing with their lack of customer support and dismal app that won’t let me even pay my bill. Do not for any reason bank with Truist. I made an account on this site just to say how terrible this bank is.
