TripAdvisor Reviews 3,597

TripAdvisor cannot be trusted for accurate ratings. A hotel recently cancelled my booking at the last minute, claiming "maintenance." However, when I passed by the property I saw absolutely no maintenance work. Because this hotel has duplicate listings on TripAdvisor (which I also raised to Tripadvisor and was ingored), I strongly suspect it was an overbooking situation.

When I tried to leave a review to warn other travelers, TripAdvisor repeatedly and quietly deleted my feedback without any warning or explanation. Because their policy requires a "first-hand experience," they use this as a loophole to erase reviews about last-minute, bad-faith cancellations. In this way, TripAdvisor curates a falsely positive environment and protects dishonest hotels instead of helping travelers.

I submit amended opening hours for two pubs which, despite what TripAdvisor says, they were actually closed for lunch today. The amendments were based on information published on the pubs' own websites but TripAdvisor decided they knew better and declined the amendments.

I hate it when it keeps saying ‘Please reload the page’ when I DID reload it. Even adding ‘Something went wrong’ before the reload the page bit is bad, even when nothing went wrong at all.

I was de frauded by a business on TripAdvisor. I was at least the 2nd. I complained to Trip Advisor but they did nothing to remove or warn or even ask the people involved. TripAdvisor is putting people at risk of being scam

Left a review on Trip Advisor after scanning a VR code on a card provided to me by a member of staff at the hotel that I stayed at. The card had a QR code for Trip Advisor and Google. I prefer to leave my reviews on Google and not TA. However, no matter how many times I scanned the QR code for Google, I was always redirected to TA so decided to leave a review on their web site, which I regard as very poor for reasons that I will shortly get into.

Long story short, I left a review for a hotel that I stayed at recently, TA questioned the authenticity of my review, I replied to them, they then posted my review with the hotel in question responding to my review only for TA to remove my review.

I cannot appeal their decision as I am not an EU citizen and I am more likely to find a fart in a jacuzzi than I am to find a link to contact someone at TA to directly question why they allowed me to have my review posted after they queried it only to then have it removed. I don't even use TA for anything, let alone leaving reviews and would much rather have left a review for said hotel on Google, which I will be doing in due course. I have inadvertently left reviews on TA for other things, but albeit after scanning a QR code provided to me by the company I have visited.

Trip Advisor, please do enjoy exerting your authority as you see fit, you very petty minded group of individuals. Also, make it clear on how customers who are not happy with your service can contact you as when I clicked on the "Contact Us" link on the email that stated my review had been removed, I was taken to your very poor web site that sent me around in circles, without any clear indication as to how I can contact you, hence this review on Trust Pilot.

Once again, such a very poor web site in terms of accessibility as well as navigation. I hope others choose other means to leave reviews, good or bad, and I will be contacting the hotel that I stayed at in due course to advise them that they would be better off using other web sites for their customers to leave reviews.

Edit 14-04-2026: The reply from TripAdvisor only deepens my distrust. My reviews were quite like this one here. No foul language or offensive comments, no innuendo or double entendres, completely family safe. They were placed within the reviews for the hotel in question. They were factual, accurate, true. Yet TripAdvisor is still unable to provide justification for their rejection.

I’ve twice tried to leave a completely honest, objective, fair but negative review on TripAdvisor for a hotel in Blackpool that gets a surprisingly high rate of 5 star reviews. How an expensive hotel with a dirty room and mould in the bathroom can get that outcome beggars belief, but that’s beside the point. TripAdvisor are having none of it (my review). They blocked it, without giving any explanation of the details that they felt were wrong or unfair. It was a dull day so I appealed. They replied saying they had carefully reviewed and upheld their decision. Well of course they did! Why would they have reached any other conclusion when they didn’t even bother, let alone have the integrity, to share their thinking or ask for my comments.

I’d always assumed TripAdvisor was a reliable review repository but that’s clearly not the case and that’s me done with them.

Hotel Caletillas, Tenerife. I cannot find one criticism with the hotel. Friendly staff and nothing too much trouble for them. Room and public areas kept very clean and bed was really comfortable. Good entertainment each day/evening. Menu varied and lots of choice.
Definitely very good value for the price we paid and the Tui Rep was helpful but not obtrusive.

Great service and food would come again

Looked for accommodation in Brecon (mid Wales) and gave 'nearby' options of Bristol, Swansea and Weston Super Mare (80 miles).... wouldnt like to get a taxi from Brecon to those 'nearby' places after a drink in town.

After reply from Trip Advisor.... wanting customer feedback.... they really should not need 'feedback' to realise that accommodation 80 miles away should not be listed as 'nearby. I find it hard to believe that the nearest available accommodation on the site is 80 miles away

I ordered a delivery from a local Thai restaurant. The delivery time kept getting pushed back further and further until I had no choice but to cancel and order from somewhere else. I left a negative review on Tripadvisor, and the restaurant owner replied, saying I had been offered a replacement meal which I could pick up myself. This wasn't the case, so I complained to Tripadvisor. They replied that since the owner's reply didn't break any laws, they were going to leave it on public display. It's hard to trust a website that allows people to lie and get away with it.

Trip advisor refuses to publish my GENUINE review about Youth Station Hostel - Rome and as it seems, they refuse to publish every negative review about this hostel acting in their favor without any excuse!! STAY AWAY FROM THEM!!

Loveholidays what a rip off I rang them to book a holiday we booked it but then unfortunately because of work we couldn't make them dates so the next morning we rang them to change the dates, but they didn't have flights for our dates so we said we will leave it several days later they took £619 out of my account for a holiday we weren't going on, the bank started to try and get that money back the next 2 months they carried on trying to take money from my account. I have had to close and move my bank account to get away from them they are horrendous company stay well away

Shoddy website that struggles to take payments

I booked a trip on the Glacier Express in Switzerland through Tripadvisor. 2 days before were due to fly from the UK to Zurich Tripadvisor advised me the Glacier Express trip had been cancelled but the very next day they charged me 900 CHF for it and did not want to give me a refund! This is like a scam so I strongly recommend travellers avoid this dishonest company.

Used to be a reputable review site.

My experience is that business owners/managers can delete negative reviews. Can't seem to click on a reviewer anymore to see if they seem genuine.

Won't use until they demonstrate integrity. shame.

Stayed at Jefferson Hotel, Leamington Spa, not our first stay as been many times. Went for our son's wedding, very accommodating Best Western Hotel, manager is very accommodating and helpful would totally recommend
Lovely clean rooms, breakfast there is something for everyone, cater for vegetarian's, ranges from cooked breakfasts, omelettes, pastries, cereals etc, rooms lovely and clean and comfy beds, onsite parking at front and back of hotel, had a nice little upgrade this weekend which was an added bonus without request

Booked a trip that stated they would pick us up from our hotel, confirmed this with the operator, on the morning of our trip they said they don’t pick up from our hotel and wanted us to pay for a taxi! They then refused to give us a refund, said we had to cancel via TripAdvisor, but if we did that we would lose our money!!! Now they have blocked us and the TripAdvisor website is not allowing us to complain!

For reasons best known to TripAdvisor they have refused to publish one of my reviews. I appealed it but they have upheld their decision.

Problem is they don't tell you on what grounds they are making this decision. It was a genuine review of a stay which ruined my wedding anniversary. I still intend to do a review but would be nice if i was told what I had done wrong.

Booked a holiday based on TripAdvisor rating and realised 90% of the reviews were fake when we got to the hotel. Disappointed in TripAdvisor lack of ability or desire to ensure reviews are legitimate or use a simple weighting system to put more weight on people who have made multiple reviews.
