Run by professional scamsters. Banned in two states.

This company is run by professional scamsters. See here (search for 'pa-attorney-general-josh-shapiro-seruya-family' to find the article). They have been banned from at least two states for denying claims inappropriately (They actually never pay out any claims). They will offer cheap plans and excellent terms but never honor them. They are also known to charge credit cards without your knowledge. Here is the case information from the Attorney General's office. (search 'THP_CIE_WITH_EXHIBITS_FILED.pdf' on google). I am still surprised to see that they are allowed to operate in other states. Never give your money to them for any reason. Their business is about scamming innocent people and that is what they will do.

I am very disappointed with Total Home…

I am very disappointed with Total Home Protections. Disappointment is not with the service provider Elite Services. Mechanic tried all trying to energize AC unit.. The compressor is no longer working. He explain Total Home Protection had to approve work. Repair request was declined. Serviced annually, no issues only Freon if needed. But the advisor for THP turned down work because damage was due to high temperatures. Too hot in Virginia?". Never told that until today. This is not acceptable. I am reporting to BBB too. I cannot recommend THP to any one. My address1238 Wirt Ave Portsmouth, VA23704.

Understandably there are two sides to every story and always look for a fair resolution between all parties.

The consumer placed a claim for an Air Conditioner not cooling on 7/20/2020. The vendor reported that the capacitor was bad on the unit. After replacing the capacitor to get the unit started, it was determined there was an internal failure on the compressor. Total Home Protection determined the compressor failure is due to an internal mechanical failure. This failure is caused from the compressor overheating and damaging the internal components of the compressor and not normal wear & tear. Per our policy this failure is clearly excluded from coverage. Please see the referenced section of the policy below;

I. BASIS FOR COVERAGE

During the term of this Agreement, we agree to pay the covered costs to repair or replace the items listed as covered on your Agreement Coverage Summary if any such items become inoperable due to mechanical failure caused by normal wear and tear. This Agreement will not cover systems or appliances within (a) commercial properties; (b) residential properties used for business purposes, including, but not limited to, dwellings used for rest homes, day care centers, schools and/or professional offices; (c) common areas of condominiums, multi-family houses and/or cooperatives; (d) vacant properties, and; (e) foreclosed/short sold properties. NOT WORTH YOUR MONEY

I made a claim and found out that if not fixable, they don't replace item. After paying $1621. on this plan for 6 years, all I was entitled to was $180. Going on 3 months and I have yet to get a check. Don't always go by reviews, do a little legwork. Would not recommend this company. Had to do at least one star to do review, otherwise I wouldn't have given it at all.

SCAM..

SCAM... I switched from AHS to Total Home Protection the service was just a horrible. The ads say "we will repair or replace if your covered appliance stops working"... No They Will Not.. they will offer you a ridiculous low ball amount to but a new one plus you have to pay for the service call. It's a SCAM and should be investigated by the Attorney Generals of both NJ and Pennsylvania.

SCAM ALERT - DO NOT BUY

I wish I read the reviews before purchasing a policy. I know the policy is cheap but save yourself from being disappointed and upset when you have to make a claim. DO NOT BUY. I was scammed out of a few hundred bucks by Total Home Protection. Please do not fall for the same thing I did. They make suffer by waiting a week only to tell you the appliance is not covered. There are definitely see some fake reviews out there. There is no way this company would replace an appliance. They will promise you the world but give you nothing. I encourage others to report them to the BBB.

DO NOT BUY Total Home Protection (THP)

DO NOT BUY Total Home Protection (THP).

I filed a claim for dryer not working. The tech came and saw it, he said he knows what the problem is and said he will talk to the company. I got a call from THP saying the claim cannot be fulfilled since there were toys int he dryer. What the tech ment toys was the wool dryer balls which I use in the dryer. If the tech and the THP claims assessor cannot figure out from the pictures that the toy is the wool dryer (which are similar to bounty sheets), then I am not sure what licensed people are THP hiring.

THP asked me to talk to the tech to see if he can clarify this with the assessor. Now, I am stuck and I have to figure out that these two knowledgeable people clarify something what a regular customer could figure out. The real damage is that the motor is not working, and this is not due to normal wear and tear despite my unit not being that old. The motor damages need to be repaired by the warranty company. But as usual they do not want to pay any money when it comes from their pocket.

I am so shocked by they saying they rejected the claim and would advice NOT TO BUY this home warranty unless you want to waste your money, time and energy.

RUN AS FAR AWAY AS POSSIBLE..

4 Months ago they agreed to a pay a claim. I was terribly displayed with the amount as it didn't come close to their alleged payment / values and after a long drawn out fight i just settled / agreed. next step was to get paid as they would not pay if account was not active so i had to keep paying the account fees. 4 calls/months later, they still have not sent the check and essentially will devalue the claim to zero with the ongoing fees. this is a scam and i intend to pursue them legally. i hope others stay away...run!!!!

Run!! Don't be fooled they will not honor there commitment!

Almost a year ago I purchased 2 home warranties from Total Home Protection; 1 for my residence and the other for my aging mothers home. I had never filed a claim on my home until my refrigerator, and under the cabinet microwave went out simultaneously last week. I contacted Total Home Protection and they scheduled a "Rays Appliance" to come out and take a look at my units yesterday.

Today 1/9/2020 at 9:31am I missed a call from a Brittini Noel at (267)296-9009 ext 733, she requested that I give her a call back. On 3 separate occasions (11:14am 11:18am and 11:35am) I called her and her phone just rang and then stated “mailbox is full,” I was then disconnected . Having no luck on Britney’s direct line, I called the 1-800 number and asked to speak with a supervisor, I was then told "All supervisors are out of the office until Monday”. Today is Thursday! Having no other choice I left a message for a call back from a supervisor.

At 11:55 am I received a return phone call from Ms. Noel. She told me that "my refrigerator would not be covered because there was a problem with my Ice maker and I did not purchase the additional coverage for a separate “ICE MAKER policy." I informed her that when I purchased both policies I was never told of a separate coverage for an "ICE MAKER ONLY POLICY"

(Remember this companies name is “TOTAL HOME PROTECTION")
Based on her response, I informed Britney that I will be recording this conversation, which she didn’t seem to show any concern about.

I then explained to Ms. Noel, when I purchased these policies I specifically asked for everything to be included, due to my aging mother who is 83 and I needed assurance that her home would be protected. It was only after I was assured by the salesman did I purchase these policies. She stated that she would be willing to add this additional add-on service to my current policy for an additional cost. (my policy expires in less than 60 days) but she considered this a preexisting condition and would not honor my claim. once again I explained to her that I was told by the Total Home Protection sales team prior to the purchase of this policy “EVERYTHING IS COVERED”. She then stated there is nothing she can or is willing to do to make me whole. I then requested to speak with her supervisor, she brazenly stated that she is a supervisor/manager and the final authority on this matter, she also went on to state that she spoke for the CEO of the company and if that wasn’t sufficient I could take it up with the legal department which she gave me their email. (ONCE AGAIN I HAVE ALL OF THIS ON TAPE)

I then stated that I felt the misrepresentation by Total Home Protection’s sales team and the claims department was credulous, deceiving and offensive. I also asked her what ever happen to “Customer service and satisfaction?” Once again she told me if I don’t agree with her decision I can take it up with legal.

Seeing that this was futile with Miss Britany I asked her if she was also denying my microwave claim. She stated ‘NO” but she would be willing to offer a $75 replacement cost for a 1.8 cubic inch Microwave. I explained to her that my unit was a 2.0 stainless steel Whirlpool microwave and not 1.8 and I could not find a replacement or comparable unit for $75. She then said she would be willing to increase the payment as a one time courtesy to $100, and then claimed she could find a replacements for $50 - $175 online. I informed her that I had been looking online also and could not find a replacement for that price. I then asked her if could she please tell me where I find a 2.0 Whirlpool stainless steel microwave or equivalent replacement online for that price. She then told me she was not a sales person and I would have to shop around for these prices on my own. Only after continual requests as to where she found these prices she RELUCTANTLY gave me 2 websites which I still can not find. (basteonds.com and budgetgoods.com)

Inclosing, I learned a long time ago that the corner stone to every good business is their ability to treat there loyal customers fairly and truthfully. However, if Mrs. Britain Noel behavior is conducive to Total Home Protection policies “RUN” do not be deceived, they are crooks. I welcome any correspondence or requests for my taped conversation

Thank you for contacting us with the above referenced review. We at Total Home Protection treat each review with the utmost respect and use this feedback to better serve our valued customers.

The consumer placed a claim on 01/07/20 for the refrigerator stating that the unit was not cooling adequately. The vendor reported that the ice maker on the unit was not making ice. Per the policy the ice maker is not covered under the Refrigerator coverage; it is an additional coverage that would need to be purchased with the policy.

In an effort to assist the customer, Total Home Protection offered a good will amount to go towards the uncovered repair/replacement. The consumer denied the good will amount. It was then offered to add the coverage to his account at a prorated cost appropriate to the time left on the consumer’s term. The consumer denied this option.

The consumer also placed a claim on 12/30/19 for a Built-In Microwave stating that unit was not heating adequately. The vendor reported that the magnetron assembly and diode had failed. The vendor indicated that due to unit’s age, repair was not an option.

As per the policy, we offered the consumer a buy-out amount for the unit. This was denied. In an effort to further assist the consumer, the amount was increased and the consumer accepted. The consumer was advised to allow 30 business days (equaling 6 weeks) to allow the check to authorize and mail out. The consumer understood.

Very poor service from Total Home Protect

I was with Total Protection in the past. My air conditioner went out. It took then 19 days to fix it. They sent to Florida to get a generator, as if we do not have generators in Maryland. It was 90 degrees in my living room. Its lucky that my dog didn't die. They have been texting me every day for the last six weeks to try and get met back. I've called them six times and told them to stop texting. They are crazy if they think I'd do business with their company Robert M. Johnston, Halethorpe, Maryland

ONE STAR IS TOO MUCH!!!!

TOTAL PROTECT HOME SERVICES

I have been with Total Protect Home Services for…over 10 years but it used to be called ResidentialMD. ResidentialMD was amazing. I still have the same Customer number but the names of the company has changed a few times.

This Total Protect Home Services is HORRIBLE!!! #TotalProtect #TotalProtectHomeServices #CinchHomeServices #TotalHomeProtection I have never been so dissatisfied even though I've had Services denied in the past. Note: I have not needed the company for (I think) about 3 years but boy have they gone downhill since my last time using them. ONE STAR IS TOO MUCH!!!!

I made a claim for a water line problem (my shut off valve for the cold water line under my sink is leaking) - the plumber that came out was very professional. He sent in the diagnosis of the problem on a Thursday morning with an "Emergency" notice, since I have to cut off the whole house's water supply.

I have been given such a runaround:

On the phone call I made on the Friday (which they don’t have any record of – no notes for a 45 minute call) she said that she was sorry but that the notes from the plumber from Thursday were being reviewed and they had not made the decision yet. I asked how would I know and she told me to call back on Monday. “CALL BACK ON MONDAY!!!” I have no water to my house. She told me at least 5 times to call back on Monday and when I kept insisting that that was unacceptable – she finally said that they were open 24/7 and that I could call over the weekend at anytime.

On the second phone call which I made on Saturday because I was not hearing anything from the company about getting my claims, the TotalProtect person put me on hold so she could speak to the plumber. She got back on the phone with me and said she was putting an emergency tag on the claim since I did not have water to my house. She NEVER said he said anything about a wrench or that I broke anything. I decided not to call on a Sunday and hoped I would hear something on Monday. I did not, so I had to make another time of at least an hour where I would not be interrupted and again I was told that they were waiting to hear from the plumber because he did not call in and give information. So at this point I am right where I started 3 days ago and after about 3 hours of phone calls.

I had to call the plumber and ask him to please call in the work details to get approval. He said that he talked to them and that they called him on Saturday. I told him that I was sorry but if he could please call them again. Don’t know why this was on me but I NEED my water turned on.

So after all of this, the plumber called me to tell me that the waterline fix was denied and he didn’t know why. So now I have to make another phone call Monday afternoon after work. During this phone call I am told that I broke the waterline. I asked how I broke the waterline and was told that I should not have touched it. I could not believe my ears. I was turning the water off and that is how I am supposed to use the valve. He just kept saying that I shouldn’t have touched it because I broke it. I asked to talk to a supervisor. It was too late and they would call me back tomorrow. I called on Tuesday and did speak to a supervisor who said that according to the records the person that came to my house stated that I used a wrench on my shut off valve. I don't OWN a wrench much less know how to use one and why would I use one – there is a valve! This was another hour phone call during my work that took more time than my lunch break.

The supervisor said I could get the plumber to call back or get another company at my own expense that if they said differently that then it could be reassessed. When I called the poor plumber back, he says he didn't say anything about a wrench and that he never saw a wrench or me using a wrench. So later that day the plumber called me back and said he tried to call the company again but the TotalProtect person on the phone would not listen or record the information down because the service was already denied and the claim closed.

The other claim was for my toilet tank which apparently has a slow leak that I am only noticing because my water to the house is off. The tank is not holding the water till the next flush. The plumber told me that he cannot assess that at this time because at this time my water is turned off. Well of course TotalProtect is saying something different. It says that the toilet has been repaired and that the claim is closed.

I stopped trying to talk to them about the toilet although I mention it on each call -
BECAUSE I need to be able to turn on my house’s WATER!!! I did not do anything to the valve - I went down and have been turning on and off my main water supply to the whole house for over a week now. Frustrating doesn’t even begin to express what I and my children are feeling at this moment.

I would like to think I'm one of the lucky one I only had the service for 3 months but as soon I call in for my first claim I then receive a report on the refrigerator that not any consumer would have notice. They just didn't want to live up to their agreement, I realize now why they were cheaper "You get what you pay for" Horrible company

One of the most horrible company in…

One of the most horrible company in this home warranty industry. worst technician that they are tied up with little or no knowledge about any equipment. I was convinced to take a 5 year single premium plan for 1750 dollars and as I am frustrated with their service I am offered a 300+ dollar of refund because I have used up 15 months of contract period. What CRAP is this? Stay away from this company!

This company is a scam

This company is a scam. They have many loop holes built in to the contract to not have to pay for anything. Also, there is a $50 fee to get out. The customer service department is rude and the service provider (HVAC) they sent me was very poorly rated.

This company is a SCAM!!!

This company is a SCAM!!!. I have been a customer for 9 months. I think they fix 2 of my claims. I filed a claim on my Duct vents that was not operating. (DENIED) I filed a claim last month that my electric circuit was not working in one of my room(DENIED). BUYER BEWARE!!! THIS IS NOT A COMPANY THAT YOU WANT TO DEAL WITH! If you tell them you want to cancel they threaten you with a 50.00 cancellation charge. That charge was set up for customers who are not satisfied with their scam that they are running!

I recommend them!

I've liked the service and coverage of Total Home so far. I've called other companies and read reviews and each time feel glad that I chose my plan here instead. I don't need problems or worries when taking care of my house and there have been none of these since I started with Total Home Protection's plan. I recommend them!

I am 100% pleased with my service

I am 100% pleased with my service from Total. I called customer service late at night to put in a service request because my garbage disposal was leaking. Someone was out the very next morning and provided very efficient and reliable work. I haven't had any problems with my disposal since. I think Total Home Protection is the perfect company to go with for anyone who is looking to protect their home.
