The place was honestly lovely. Was clean, provided kettle, bedding, towels, fridge with small freezer compartment, tv and dvd player.

Location was beautiful with the view out of the front door directly over the countryside. Easy to park and roads in the area were small but easy to drive and easy to get to the location.

Plenty of lovely walks in the area and only 15 mins from Bishop Auckland which has every shop you could need.

Communication with owners was helpful and pleasant.

Would happily go back again.

The weather was great and we could use the pool every day. It was so nice a quiet and the space was spacious and just what we were looking for.

Their "only £10 deposit required" is misleading, and their customer service / help line is non-existent.

We have booked with Sykes for a few years now and havnt been disappointed by any of the cottages.

My holiday reservation was rescheduled due to a bereavement. The original holiday payment of £850 was fully settled last year for July. Subsequently, an additional charge of £775 was processed for the same duration for this september. I did not authorize this subsequent payment, as the card details were retained from the original transaction . I find it deeply concerning that I have been charged pretty much double for the same holiday and that both the property owner and Sykes consider this acceptable. Do not use this company. Also attempted to contact by whatsapp over 4 days and no one responded until day 4. Trevenning Chapel 959456.

Have used Sykes Cottages site for some years now, always check here first to see what's available and then other sites to compare but always end up back at Sykes to book, straight forward, informative, never any issues, trustworthy, feel confident booking through Sykes

Spent 3 nights at Farne View Cottage with my husband, 2 grandchildren & dog. The setting in which the cottage is situated was stunning, open fields, very quiet and relaxing.
Unfortunately, I felt the cottage interiors were in need of some attention. Paintwork could do with a fresh lick of paint downstairs
Sofa very grubby and dirty. Downstairs floor dusty with cobwebs in areas. I feel the cottage needs a deep clean
We did not realise the bathroom was downstairs in cottage. Not convenient with 2 small children for baths and toilet use.

We are extremely disappointed with our experience with Sykes Holiday Cottages. We paid our money to Sykes, but there was a problem with the payment not being passed on to the third party/property provider. This caused us a lot of stress and inconvenience.

We expected Sykes to take responsibility and resolve the issue quickly, as we made the payment to them in good faith. Unfortunately, we are not happy with how the situation has been handled.

We hope Sykes will investigate this matter properly and provide a fair resolution. We would like other customers to be aware of our experience before making a booking n the there staff was so rude as well.

Booked a property through a third party and they canceled without an alternative property offered.
Not even an apology and we are traveling from Canada.
Believe me my family and all they know will never use the people. Very unprofessional indeed xx

Easy to book, I made a mistake and it was corrected fairly easily

Problem with a booking. Contact them with WhatsApp. Replied to there message.then get a message saying that I hadn't replied and was going to close the case.

You can see I am a frequent user but this time I booked I expected a £60 discount but this was not reflected in the final price. Otherwise it would be 5 star

Website was easy to follow and store favourites, enabling us to go through them and gradually reduce them. The actual booking process we clear to follow and confirmation of the booking was quickly received by email.

Very efficient. Description of property was good. Property was clean and furnishings looked new. Good value for money.
