Working with Step Teachers
I have been working successfully with Step Teachers for nearly three years. During this time they have kept me very busy with a good variety of schools and age ranges from Nursery to Year 6. I have been able to work when I want to and have thoroughly enjoyed the flexibility of being able to choose the days I am in school. The staff are always super friendly and work hard to keep me busy during the school year. I rely on Step Teachers as am with no other agency but they have not disappointed!

Step Teachers have been extremely proactive and helpful for me with searching for positions and getting experience to take further in my career. The people in the office are always lovely to speak to and consistently excited and interested in anything you come to them with. 100% would recommend.

Fantastic agency
Step Teachers are a fantastic supply agency to work for. They go out of their way to find work which fits your availability and travel preferences. Before returning to Step Teachers I was close to giving up teaching, but now I get to do what I love in a way that fits around my family. I would highly recommend this company to anyone considering supply.

The Plymouth branch are the best!
Rachel leads a brilliant team. They work hard to recruit excellent teachers and TAs in order to provide fantastic supply cover for schools in Plymouth and the surrounding areas.
Having worked with Rachel for over 4 years, she works hard to promote me and other Step Teachers to get us long term and short term assignments.
Both Rachel and Lauren are supportive, approachable and helpful. They work diligently and have everyone's best interest at heart - the teachers/TAs and also the school.

No.1 Supply Team - Norfolk
I have been on supply with STEP Teachers since September 2025 after being made redundant from my previous job. They are an amazing supply company that do their best to get work to me as often as possible. Even from September I was getting between 3-4 days of work which soon increased to 5. They respect what I do and do not want to do and I have never felt pressured to do otherwise.
I soon took on a long term role and loved it! So much so, they had me back in September and I’m still there! James, Jamie and Josée would regularly check in and Josée keeps a regular correspondence with my school.
I signed up to one other supply agency to ensure work and managed to get all of 1 day with them! Their support was no comparison to STEP so I removed myself from their register and now solely work with these amazing people!
They pay me on a weekly basis is much better than filling out a form and waiting for schools to process (The one day I worked for the other company was in October but I didn’t receive payment until December). No anxieties over what is coming in and what is going out.
At the end of the summer term, I enjoyed a glorious boat trip on the Norfolk Broads as an end of year treat from STEP and they have done other small meets since to keep a personal check of their team. Such lovely opportunities and an ability to see the team in person and put a face to the name. STEP have also recently offered StepOn training to support us with the increasing individual support needs in school settings. You won’t go wrong with this team. On a personal note I was second questioning continuing in my profession. Being able to teach in different schools and get the positive feedback I regularly received helped me believe in myself again, especially when I was requested back! I couldn’t be more grateful.

Despite the slowness of response from references, Step Teachers were efficient and kept me in the loop at all times. Once all paperwork was cleared , I recieved work from the first week with a subsequent 2 day posting at a school and additional work when it came through. Payment is timely and weekly communication through my handler is very good.

Step Teachers have been an excellent agency to work with. They have ensured that I have the work I need and have been supportive with any issues I have had with assignments or scheduling. Most importantly, I feel like Step want their teachers to be happy and enjoy their roles and assignments. So far the best agency I worked with and I have worked with more tha 14 in the last 7 years.
The schools they work with are really good. The students are respectful and, most importantly, the colleagues are supportive. I have also met teacher who got their permanent role through them. Hopefully, I will also get mine soon.
