My sons alternator on his Yaris 1.4D decided to die (it has done 175k miles) Tom at this company sent out a refurbished unit, the price was very competitive, the delivery time exceptional and when it arrived it looked brand new! Fitted it and it works great, boxed up the old one for a return and partial payment back for the swap, Tom even included a returns label so totally hassle free.

was so helpful, my new starter motor turned up within a few hours of ordering. I had no part number but with a few pictures supplied by myself it was matched up and a replacement was sent. spot on would definitely use and recommend.

Took a genuine alternator,I was given a cheap one in exchange only for the other one to go faulty and go incredibly hot within days.i went back only for them to tell me it was a problem with my car ?

I bought this alternator from Amazon and I installed it taken 4 hours to install because Amazon lied to me and said that it's a direct fit when it's anything but you literally have to make it fit I didn't have a choice because of me missing work for 3 days now I can't drive it again all because Amazon leaves these 3 party vendors sell you garbage parts Aetuanfly is the name of the company STAY AWAY from this place I promise you will regret buying it that being said they should have to reimburse me for Lost wages and labor for my time!!!!!!!

Excellent service from this Company. I ordered an uprated alernator from them, complete with a regualtor wired for use with an external regulator. It arrived the next morning.

I then found that the external regulator could not get the voltage down to a reasonable float voltage. Tom at the Starter Motor and Alternator Company suggested removing the internal regulator and replacing with a brush box, and they sent this free of charge.

I'll be recommending them to any one who is looking for a replacement alternator or starter motor.

Tom is very knowledgeable and helpful. He doesn’t try to sell you something you don’t need. He explained how to test everything out first before I went ahead and placed an order for an alternator because he advised that it could be a cheaper part that was at fault.

This company provides excellent customer service and is very genuine. I will be a returning customer and will be more than happy to recommend to friends and family.

Ordered a mk7 fiesta alternator reconned from them. Delivered next day, recon unit looked brand new, so we'll done there. Unit works great. Old unit sent back (free postage) , and paid the £30 deposit with a few days. Excellent service in my experience.

Bought an exchange alternator from this company on 30th April 2025, cost me £200 to have it fitted 3 days later the battery light came on so took it back to the garage that fitted it he checked it and found it was not charging, The Alternator Company sent me a replacement alternator which is working fine, I asked The AC if he would help with the £200 re fitting fee maybe give me £100 but totally refused as he said when checking the returned alternator it was working fine (of course he's going to say that) so its cost me £400 through no fault of my own. Nice people NOT. do not touch with a barge pole.

Easy to use website. Spoke to a very helpful person on the phone and then ordered online for next day Friday delivery. Through no fault of this company DPD managed to mess this up. Emailed on Saturday morning and had a response that same morning. They had contacted DPD and rearranged my delivery. DPD managed to deliver this time :)
Alternator came well packaged. Would definitely use again and recommend to my friends.

Really bad company to deal with I only wanted to buy an alternator and received a ton of abuse and wouldn’t refund my £290

I love recommending Devon companies & these guys are brilliant. I ordered my replacement alternator over the phone for a great price. The advice I got was spot on & the part was delivered the next day. Really easy to send back the old alternator to get a refund. Can't recommend them highly enough.

Excellent customer service both technically and commercially. Quickly confirmed the correct starter motor for my vehicle and although I had placed my order before 5:00pm on a Thursday the courier had already collected that day's shipments so they shipped it on Friday and waived the extra charge for a Saturday delivery. Thank-you.
An hour after the starter motor arrived it was fitted and the car was up and running again. Would definitely use these guys again and happily recommend them to others.

I am fortunate to have found SM&A Co. after some mis-direction from other so-called "experts". Jack understood exactly what I required and I had a replacement alternator for my 1996 Jeep XJ Cherokee the very next day. Any issues are resolved immediately and without issue - it shows that some businesses with old fashioned customer service values still exist. I shall be spreading the word.

Lowest price available alternator anywhere and superb customer service. Jack couldn't be more knowledgable or helpful in resolving my regulator issue. These guys are the real deal and you will not find better. Highly recommended.

I recently had the need to search for a new alternator and starter motor for my 04 plate BMW. I got in touch with The Startermotor & Alternator Company Ltd in Plymouth to understand what was available and the cost. The service and knowledge was absolutely first class. The cost of both items was very well priced but in addition to all of this, he said both products could be with me by tomorrow, and it was. Now that is what I call good ole traditional first class service with a smile, coupled with incredible knowledge about their products. An excellent company. Well done.

Ordered an alternator for my Ford quite late in the day (16:30) and in spite of this company’s ‘order by 17:00 for same day dispatch’, I didn’t realistically expect it to be actioned until the next day. To my astonishment, within about 10 mins I got another mail marking my order as ‘dispatched’. Old cynic that I am, I wasn’t sure that I believed it! Good to their word, it duly turned up by courier the next day. OE Denso alternator, at an
extremely good price (all-in i.e. inclusive of VAT and delivery). I am SO impressed that I felt moved to say so.
Item, price, delivery and service have all been truly excellent from this company.
The most satisfying thing of all, perhaps, is in not paying Ford
an additional £100, or so, for them to plonk one of their pretty but very expensive labels on an identical item.
