I am extremely disappointed with my recent experience.
I purchased a shisha online from Starbuzz and received it on 5 June 2026. Upon opening the package, I immediately noticed a strong odour and what appeared to be poor build quality compared to the exact same model I had previously purchased from them a few years ago. The product also had a persistent paint-like taste and smell, threading issues, and loose/rattling components.
I reported these issues to Starbuzz on 7 June 2026, only two days after receiving the item. At their request, I travelled from East London to their West London store so that the product could be inspected. The staff member who inspected the shisha acknowledged both the odour issue and the noticeable difference in quality compared to the same model displayed in store. Photographs were taken, and I was advised that the matter would need to be resolved by the online sales team.
Despite following all of their instructions, taking time out of my day to attend the inspection, and raising the issue almost immediately after delivery, I was ultimately informed that they would not accept the item back simply because it had been opened and used.
This response makes little sense given that the defects complained of could only have been discovered after opening and inspecting the product. It is impossible to identify issues such as odour, taste, build quality defects, and faulty components without first opening the item.
What has disappointed me most is not the defect itself, but the lack of willingness to resolve a genuine customer concern despite their own representative acknowledging the issues. I have remained cooperative throughout and simply requested a product matching the quality and standard advertised and previously supplied by the company.
I hope Starbuzz will reconsider its position and resolve the matter fairly. Unfortunately, based on my experience, I cannot currently recommend purchasing from them if customer service and after-sales support are important factors in your buying decision.
