BANK NOT WORKING AVOID
I have been working in banking for 30 year and I am confidently stating that Standard Chartered Bank is not fit for purpose. In my experience bad, terrible and useless people! Currently my company has a large payment stuck with them for the last 6 months and they have not been able to return even if the correct process of SWIFT RECALL has been followed and they have been chased several times via SWIFT. It is not a compliance problem and in fact they tried to return the funds but they failed to do so since they did not follow the instruction provided via SWIFT that stated the obvious: return the fund the same way you received them (via TARGET2). When contacted via phone they have been aggressive to me and unable to provide any support whatsoever.
Absolutely unacceptable experience.
Absolutely unacceptable experience.
The bank closed my account without giving me any clear or valid reason. At the time I was overseas, and this card was my only access to money, it was a significant amount. One morning I opened the app and saw my balance had been reduced to zero. It was 3rd of March.
Imagine being in another country, relying on that account, and suddenly finding out your money is gone with no warning, no proper explanation, and no one available to help.
They also made no real effort to make sure I actually received the closure letter. No proper phone call, no useful email, nothing that reflects the seriousness of cutting off someone’s access to funds while they are abroad.
After that, I had to chase them myself from overseas, calling repeatedly just to get basic information about how to recover my own money.
Eventually they sent me a SWIFT form that I couldn’t even open. I informed them of this, emailed multiple times, called multiple times, and even left a request for a callback. Still nothing useful was done. No callback, to forms, no communication.
Then they simply stopped replying.
The complaints agent’s number is listed, but no one picks up. So apparently there is a complaints channel on paper, but not in reality.
This whole situation has been handled with a shocking level of carelessness and zero accountability. If you are trusting this bank with your money, especially while living or travelling abroad, think twice.
Files a complaint to their official regulator.
Harassment & Misleading Information by Standard Chartered Bank
Very disappointing experience with Standard Chartered Bank.
I have been struggling for more than a year regarding unnecessary MAB charges and incorrect guidance from branch staff. Despite multiple emails and calls, the bank fails to provide clear written information about account downgrade, MAB requirements, and service details.
Staff at the branch misguide customers and later deny responsibility. Even after escalation, they only give verbal assurances but avoid written confirmation.
This has caused me financial loss, mental stress, and complete loss of trust. Customer service is highly unprofessional and insensitive.
I would not recommend this bank to anyone. Please be very careful before opening an account here.
Worst Service
Worst Service.First time ever missing a payment — and Standard Chartered immediately charges a late fee with zero flexibility.
Tried to appeal for a waiver, but was met with a flat rejection. No understanding, no customer care — just rigid policies.
If this is how they treat customers with a clean record, it says a lot.
Paid it off and cancelled the card right after. No regrets.
Frustrating experience
Frustrating experience. Be ready that Standard Chartered will not process your transfers, both outgoing and incoming, and will not inform you about any delays until you call them to find out on the status of your transfers. It will take you time and efforts calling them to find out, and their explanations will be vague linked to some ‘technical reasons’, at the end they will just send your money back without informing you. It happened to me during last two months both while receiving money to my SC account, and while making a transfer from my SC account.
Most painful experience trying to cancel credit card
Most painful experience trying to cancel my credit card. Wouldn’t use them again.
Very poor customer service and app
Very poor customer service and the application is terrible. I can barely comprehend the 'customer service' people who call from unknown numbers, without introducing themselves, and make me say 'hello' twice before they respond only to ask me who I am. They then ask me to tell them personal information, which feels very uncomfortable. And finally they don't unlock my card or unblock the transaction I have requested. So frustrating. The application always opens with some nonsense alert that I have to dismiss about service interruption or whatever. It's overcomplicated and mostly adverts. So user-unfriendly and try getting a credit card, even with a great salary and employment pass. Joke of a bank so I am moving to another.

worst bank ever.
They kept showing me wrong "Latest statement" and then because I paid wrong amount obviously, because they showed me wrong statement, they charged me late payment fee + interest! this happened twice this year, will close my bank account with immediate effect and will share the video in twitter! this is fraud!!!
Stay away from this bank... They are not trustworthy.
Standard Chartered was one of my worst…
Standard Chartered was one of my worst banking experiences. Even public sector banks do better. The bank can randomly change your privileges, and its an absolutely undependable bank. I closed my salary account with them and they have the same attitude with their credit card services, so I am considering closing that too. They automatically reduced my credit limit, even though my payments are timely. And don't have justifiable reasons. I would definitely not recommend this bank. And this is after we have a corporate relationship with them.

Scammed by the bank with an offer of a free ride from the airport when u book tickets with the card. Yet they charged me the full amount . Wasted my time few phone calls and providing all the evidence so I ended up canceling their card. Now I have added them to my blacklisted banks
Pathetic Bank
Given the absolutely ridiculous and pathetic reason for charging me PURCHASE INTEREST of Rs1, 523.34 and a corresponding GST of Rs274.20 for a shortfall of Rs0.01(1 paise) in the payment of my dues, I decided to discontinue my banking relations with SCB with immediate effect.
I have requested SCB to cancel all my credit cards issued by the bank. I have also cleared all outstanding dues against these cards. In fact I have paid something extra because SCB as beggars and sharks need it more than I do.
Worst and fraudulent bank.
Worst and fraudulent bank.. SCB hold the fund without any satisfaction or without any ground

I am writing to express my disappointment with the services I have received from your bank. I had high expectations from Standard Chartered Bank Pakistan, but unfortunately, my experience has been very unpleasant.
After creating my account and making only 2–3 transactions, my account was suddenly restricted — even after I received my debit card. When I visited the branch today to inquire about the issue, I was informed that the details I provided during account creation were incorrect.
If that were the case, I would like to understand why my account was created in the first place and why I was issued a debit card and allowed to make transactions before being restricted. This situation has caused me unnecessary inconvenience and frustration.
Due to this poor experience, I have decided not to continue using Standard Chartered Bank Pakistan. Based on my friends’ recommendations, I will be shifting to another bank.

Standard Chartered Bank is the worstBank in UAE, with horrible Customer Service, I am almost unable to use my card, and any transaction I should receive bounces back, always.
I stopped receiving my salary to this bank and moved to another bank.
Please pack up and leave India
Please pack up and leave India, as your "standard" doesn't comply and match with any Indian bank. Your online banking never works, the app doesn't work, the web portal always have an error. What a mess
Absolutely worst experience ever
Absolutely worst experience ever. Have to go through hoops and loops just to get to customer service, website and app UX is just horrendous, app rewards are so difficult to claim anything worth, annual fees waiver rejected. I am glad to be cancelling my card. Good riddance.
