ShuttersUp installation caused damage to our bay window
We have unfortunately had a very negative experience with shutters up. The shutters themselves are fine. The installation, however, caused damage to our bay window - the central pane now has condensation trapped between the double glazing, which was completely clear before Shutters Up visited.
When we raised this, it took two weeks to get a technician out. He was rude, took no responsibility, and tried to tell us that a broken seal on double glazing is actually beneficial because it "allows air to flow." That is simply untrue. Double-glazed units are hermetically sealed by design, and a broken seal is a defect, not a feature.
We're now left with a fogged window pane and a company unwilling to stand behind the quality of their installation work. I would not recommend Shutters Up based on this experience.

I appreciate the polite tone, but the position remains the same. Shutters Up accept no responsibility. The argument that the side-fix method means the installation “cannot affect” the sealed unit is an oversimplification. Drilling into the surrounding structure creates vibration and stress that can compromise an adjacent sealed unit without any direct contact with the glass. This is well understood in the glazing industry.
I’d also like to note, for anyone reading this, that the explanation your engineer Craig has now provided in writing is significantly different from what he told me in person, when he stated that a broken seal would be a good thing because it “allows air to flow through.” That is not a technical point that was poorly communicated it is simply incorrect.
The glass was clear before installation and misted afterwards. I have an independent glazier assessing the unit this week and will update this review with their findings.

I’m really pleased to hear that you’re happy with the quality of your shutters, but I’m genuinely sorry that the experience following installation has been frustrating for you. I completely understand how concerning it must be to notice misting after making an investment in your home.
Having carefully reviewed your installation and our engineer’s findings, I’d like to offer some reassurance. Your shutters were fitted within the structural recess using a side-fix method, meaning they are secured to the surrounding structure and do not come into contact with the window frame or glass itself. Because of this, the installation cannot affect the sealed unit of the glass.
The misting you’ve described is typically caused by a failure within the glazing unit itself (often referred to as a “blown” unit), which can unfortunately occur over time independently of any external works. I appreciate this isn’t the outcome you were hoping for, but I do want to be clear and transparent about what our installation can and cannot influence.
I was also very sorry to hear your comments regarding our service engineer. This is not the experience we want any customer to have. We have addressed this internally, and while the engineer was attempting to explain a technical point, it’s clear this wasn’t communicated in the most helpful or reassuring way—so I do apologise for that.
I’ve sent you a detailed report separately following the senior engineer’s visit, which I hope helps to clearly explain everything. If it would be helpful, I’d be more than happy to talk this through with you directly and answer any questions.
Thank you again for bringing this to our attention. I’m sorry again for the frustration caused, and we’re here to support you however we can moving forward.

As everyone else I have been shopping around before making my mind up based on materials, company reviews and service and my goodness, I have no words to describe how wonderful these shutters look!! I waited a bit to have them installed but oh my my, was it worth the wait!!
Really smooth from start to finish! Thank you Lance for recommending the right style for my house and for being transparent with prices and services.
3 big windows and a medium fitted over two levels in about 4hrs. Bradley, the installation specialist, has done a fantastic job, polite, professional and ready to answer every question you have! They look stunning!! Even my old tatty kitchen looks good with this shutters!! Happy days!
Bradley came half an hour early and everything got cleared at the end of the day!

I am writing to share my experience with ShuttersUp warranty service, which has been both frustrating and concerning.
In August 2025, we reported a fault with one of the locks that secures the shutter to the ground. An engineer attended and confirmed that a replacement part was required, with an estimated lead time of approximately 8 weeks.
Since then, the process has been significantly delayed:
• There has been no proactive communication; I have had to repeatedly chase for updates.
• In December, upon following up, I was informed that the manufacturer had failed to dispatch the part, meaning a further 8-week wait.
• Since then, updates have remained vague, with assurances that we would be “kept informed”, which has not been the case.
It has now been approximately 12 weeks since December, and we still have no confirmed timeline for when the part will arrive or when the repair will be completed.
This level of delay, combined with the lack of clear communication and follow-up, is very disappointing and concerning, particularly for a warranty-related issue.
I would reasonably expect:
• Proactive and timely updates
• Clear and reliable timelines
• Proper follow-up with suppliers
At this stage, I would appreciate a clear resolution and a confirmed timeframe for completing the repair.
I hope this feedback will be taken seriously and lead to improvements in after-sales support.

We recently had shutters installed by ShuttersUp and couldn’t be happier with the whole experience. From start to finish the service was excellent and very professional.

Shutters up Don’t look anywhere else!
An exceptionally friendly company to deal with from the salesman, the friendly office staff and the surveying and fitting team. The salesman , Robert, came with a complete set of samples which were very helpful in helping us to decide what we wanted and at the right price. The process from then involved accurate measurements by the friendly surveyor , Tom, and the subsequent fitting a few months later by another friendly face, Tom 2, who had all the shutters fitted in a day, no mess no fuss no problems. I would recommend them to anyone considering shutters.
