Many customers reported being charged for subscriptions even after canceling free trials or full memberships, with some experiencing unexpected recurring charges. People also found it difficult to cancel subscriptions, often encountering issues with the website and a lack of responsiveness from customer service. Reviewers frequently mentioned problems with the website, including difficulties logging in, recovering passwords, and finding helpful information. I wish I could give zero stars

I wish I could give zero stars. They wouldn’t cancel my free trial when I asked, charged my credit card and then canceled my account so I couldn’t use it. The worst part is my credit card wouldn’t refund because the company kept saying they weren’t in the wrong. I sent in proof multiple times. I closed the credit card as well. I fought it for a year and I was thinking of fighting it still but just paid it off. Don’t use them ever!

Absolutely atrocious service

Absolutely atrocious service, pirated documents and stolen books, customer support is non-existent, as somebody subscribed to them with my debit card and I wrote to them 5 times to stop the subscription. No answer and not a single action taken.

Pure piracy: I see full books of my publishing house, illegal. Seems like fun to download our books for free, but we invested lots of real money and time to make these publications happen.

Don't use SCRIBD.

This is my email to SCRIBD. They have now returned $14.99. Unacceptable.

Return the money you have charged me for May and June. This is the third time you have charged me after I unsubscribed. I complained the first time, in April, and you returned my funds. I did not realise I had been charged for May until I checked my bank statement for June. I have attached a screegrab. Two additional payments will be returned to me by your company. What you are doing is illegal. The attached photo should provide you with enough details.

Beware: Scribd is a Scam!

Title: Beware: Scribd is a Scam!

I am writing this review to warn others about the deceptive practices of Scribd. I signed up for their so-called "free" 30-day trial, only to find out that it's nothing but a trap to get your credit card details. Despite canceling my subscription three months ago, I was shocked to see a $14.99 charge on my account today. To make matters worse, I can't even log in to my account, and they refuse to send a password reset link. It's as if they want to keep you locked out while they continue to charge you.

The promise of "unlimited downloads" during the trial period is a complete lie. I was only able to download a few documents before hitting a limit. This is false advertising at its finest. Scribd lures you in with grand promises and then fails to deliver on every front.

Customer service is non-existent. I've tried reaching out multiple times, but there's no response. It's clear that Scribd is more interested in taking your money than providing any real service.

Do yourself a favor and stay far away from Scribd. It's a scam, plain and simple. Don't fall for their tricks and definitely don't give them your credit card information. You've been warned!

Untrustworthy , Do not submit card details

Untrustworthy, deceive customers by promoting a free trial period and then offering them up to 30days extra to try premium if they do not cancel, they then go on to deduct from your credit card even when you are within the free trial period. Complaints sent directly to the company but they ignore it. I would never use their site again, they mislead customers by the way they promote their service.

Never in my life have I been so…

Never in my life have I been so appalled by a company, I had to make a trustpilot account just to share my utter OUTRAGE. I have never used it before and wanted to find the mark scheme for a past paper I was doing, I looked it up and the only website that had the mark scheme was Scribd. I thought nothing of it and clicked on the website, tell me why every 30 seconds I'm getting incessant adverts and constant "are you a robot" questions. Like no mate in the 10 seconds since you last asked I have not become a robot, also I highly doubt that a robot would be looking at a GCSE biology mark scheme, IF I WAS A ROBOT I WOULDN'T NEED A MARK SCHEME! Like god forbid a girl is just trying to peacefully get through her GCSEs and mark a past paper. Never in my life have I felt so angry with a company, I could feel my blood curdling in my veins. Single handedly the most anger inducing experience of my life, I would not wish this pain on my worst enemies! It got to the point where I was so sick of the TORTURE that I tried to download the paper because it innocently gave the option to, I clicked on this button and was told to put my email in which I thought nothing of, just assumed they wanted to send me endless spam like every other company. NO, NO, once they had my email address they started trying to get me to PAY! Like are you having a laugh? Absolutely not, get a grip. This company is appalling and should not exist, it was clearly made by a man who thought it would be entertaining to irritate as many people as possible. Please put a woman in charge of your company and all your problems would be solved. Thanks for ruining my day xx

ESTAFA / SCAM

I signed up just to download a document and they forced me into a “30-day free trial” that’s actually a trap. There’s no easy way to cancel it—they make it super complicated on purpose.
I tried to cancel the subscription and couldn’t find any option to do it—no button, no link, nothing, neither on the website nor in the app. There’s only a contact button that opens a chat with a bot that’s completely useless. Scribd uses PayPal to charge you, and even if you think you’re on a trial, they’ll take your money once the 30 days end if you don’t cancel properly through PayPal.
If you use PayPal, heads up: you have to go into “Automatic Payments,” find “Scribd,” and disable the “Active” option because otherwise, they’ll charge you without warning and there’s no way to stop them unless you cancel there.
And that’s not all: if you have multiple payment methods linked to PayPal (cards, bank account), they can charge from any of them. So check carefully and remove everything you don’t want them to use.
This is a total mess and Scribd claims no responsibility. Basically, they’re scamming people with this strategy so they accidentally pay.
If you value your money and time, don’t even think about using Scribd unless you know exactly how to cancel from day one. DO NOT CLICK ON THE FREE TRIAL.
