Poor little cat!!!

I have been on this earth for 79 years and never once, in all thst time has there ever been a satisfactory rescue for any animal who needed the help I asked this appalling organisation for. Not once.
The latest request was around 14th August 2023
where a poor little cat had been left in awful conditions and I requested to know what had happened and if they had got the cat out of the house where the owner had died. They didn't remove it on earlier requests but I needed to know if it had been saved.
I was told they would look into it and get back to me but, unsurprisingly, I didnt get to know the fate of thst poor animal. Obviously they hadn't saved it!!
I wish I could give minus stars...I have to give one as if i didnt, this review would not be accepted.
Awful awful organisation.

Discontent in the ranks apparently

Your shiny new vans look like either Virginia media or city fibre, which is who I thought it was when they pulled up. How much did that cost??. The officer who picked up the poor cat I reported wasn't to impressed either. Your troops on the ground are showing signs of discontent at your chiefs high salaries and their lack of integrity. Someone needs to speak out. 5 stars for your official none for her boss. Glad to hear the cat is doing well. Very concerned that the sspca don't respond at all to criticism here.

Reported neighbours dogs being…

Reported neighbours dogs being neglected around 7 times and SSPCA did not think these dogs were in need of help after 5 visits. The two out of three dogs living at the property are now DEAD. Shocking so called charity.

Shameful

Whilst in full awareness of what was happening, you left the poor sheep stranded by herself below a mountain for 2 years!!

No effort, concern, or bother whatsoever.

Shameful. What is even the point of you if you don't fulfill the main purpose of your organisation.

Bravo to all those involved who saved Fiona.

They leave animals in need to die.

Lots of reports about a sheep stranded at the bottom of a mountain for two years. No urgency to rescue what so ever. Even though the weather is getting worse and the poor thing has no food and has been completely alone for two years. Absolutely disgusting from a company who is supposed to care about animals in desperate need.

I phoned to report 3 birds inside…

I phoned to report 3 birds inside Sainsburys in kelso. The sspca told me to go back to the store and get store to call sspca, as they can not go to the store without being invited. 3 birds are flying around inside the store . I explained. I am 80, ill and had already left the store. I told the girl that was why i phoned sspca, to give advice if not help to the store. Agent refused, telling me to go back or tell the store to phone them.they refused to contact Sainsbury's .Sspca deplorable charity. No wonder a 2.2 rating. They dont care.

You cannot report a genuine case of…

You cannot report a genuine case of cruelty unless you give your details (ie can't stay annoynmous). When you live in a small remote area, there's a potential threat of retaliation..... so the poor animal is left to suffer. The SSPCA runs just like any other business. The welfare of all animals should be top and centre of their priorities. Very upset they haven't followed up my call to investigate that poor animal. Won't be getting any more of my money in support.

Reported injured deer at 9.44am

Reported injured deer at 9.44am. Assisted the staff by identifying on google maps where the young injured animal was positioned - left my telephone number as I live within a few minutes from the John Muir path and could have assisted with the whereabouts - no call was made but according to the member of staff I spoke to 24 hours later staff attended the area but couldn't find the injured animal. This is outrageous as during my first call I spent a long time identifying the exact spot unfortunately it was obvious the member of staff was struggling and I asked to speak to another member of staff. I wish I had insisted as my impression of her competence was unfortunately correct - clearly this organisation is failing the animals it claims to care about - uses money raised by animal lovers but no one had the sense to call me to ask for assistance when the couldn't identify the spot the injured deer was lying. It definitely couldn't move as it was attempting to stand up and collapsed. Shame on you all for the callous conduct. I suspect no one attended and if as they allege the did attend and couldn't find the animal can anyone explain why the didn't contact me for assistance. Something has to be done about the this service and they should be accountable for their lack professionalism - someone needs to be sacked!!! Absolute disgraceful organisation. The outcome was after my second call that I should phone the council to have the now deceased animal picked up.

Ridiculous restraints!

I'm an experienced dog owner, having had a rescue dog before.
This time I'm really not getting anywhere. It's ridiculous...an ugly 6ft high fence is required in an enclosed garden,no other animals, children. I'm retired and fit and experienced in dog training. My garden is safe enough in a great area in Glasgow.
My applications for 2 dogs were ignored.

RiP Mrs Wood Pigeon, fly free at rainbow Bridge

I phoned them to ask them to come and help a wood pigeon I had managed to rescue from the neighbours cat. It looked ok at a glance, but cudnt fly and there was cats all around it. Within 5 mins I had a phone call back and within 30 mins were at my house to try and help the poor thing unfortunately there were wounds on belly and under wings that I didn't see and it had to be put to sleep. I appreciate the fast response and the humane death although very sad it cudnt be saved. The call handler and the lady that attended where extremely professional and caring.

honestly wish I could give them 0…

honestly wish I could give them 0 stars, after a pigeon was mauled by a cat at had its leg torn off and open wounds all over its body we phoned the spca as they are there for “helping and rescuing animals in distress” after the first phone call at 3:10pm they had said they would come quickly, after 5 hours i phoned again to say the severity of the situation and this pigeon needed assistance and they said they had it on the next call and they were coming immediately, after another 2 hours my neighbour phoned and they said they were on route! total lies every phone call just telling us what we wanted to hear, sadly this pigeon was left to bleed out and be in excruciating pain for 7 and a half hours and sadly passed away! regardless of what animal is needing assistance weather it be a bird they should make the effort to do there job correctly if you have no interest in saving or helping every animal do not do the job!! this pigeon was going to pass away regardless due to the severity of its injuries but to not come out and take it to put its out it’s misery I found down right appalling! the SPCA pick and choose what jobs to go to clearly and staff are not there for the right reasons what so ever! yes it’s just a bird but no animal should have to die the way this poor pigeon did. absolutely disgusting! and too the callers who answered the phone call i really question if there ever was a request to come and save this bird! vile act of service. sadly it’s the only option we have for a animal helpline!

THEY ARE NOT HERE TO HELP!

The one star is from the reception lady who actually helped and understood. I'd give 0 stars from the other lady who came to 'help and advise' us. We have really fallen on hard times due to work vehicles being off road so my partner cannot work. I'm heavily pregnant and don't work just now. Our cat got run over this morning and we were pointed to the sspca's direction for help as we couldn't find a vet who could do payment plans. I have never felt so judged and looked down upon. Our animals are well kept and looked after it's just this month has been tight and we didn't bargain in having a cat being clipped. Instead of helping, all I had was 'if you can't get this cat to a vet we will cease and force you to surrender your cat' which put myself into allot of distress as I love my animals. What we can't afford this month we can usually afford next month. She did try and phone around and after failing to find someone to help herself, again repeated 'you need to surrender your cat, if you cannot take it to the vet we will take him by force.' she was blunt and rude and very judgemental. We spend over a grand on our cat when he was poorly at the start of the year so it's not like we can't afford him it's just this month! SSPCA ARE NOT THERE TO HELP THEY ARE THERE TO JUDGE AND TAKE YOUR BELOVED PETS, FORCING YOU TO SURRENDER THEM!!! I will never ever ask the sspca for help ever again! You help junkies and their pets but families who have hit it hard you will scare and force them to surrender their family pets! I'm absolutely appalled by the sspca today. I have, after hours of being on the phone, been able to find a vet for the next day in fear you will forcibly take my cat away from me! I am not an irresponsible pet owner hence why I asked for help! I wouldn't leave him in pain and agony! I asked for help and all I got was judged and told that you would cease my pet and to surrender him! Sort your staff out please! Because having staff who don't have very good people skills really put bad light on your charity! Over my dead body will you ever take my cat away from me!

I can not be more agree with previous…

I can not be more agree with previous reviews. I been trying to adopt a cat from them, long story short, one of the excuses they have gave me it was that I did send an old/expired application with authorization from my landlord, which it was not true. How they arrived to this conclusion, I do not know, they gave more excuses, but the one explain, it was the one that shock me the most. The worse is, when I tried to answer them to explain the application was for the cat that I wanted to adopt, I send the email, and I find out that was block, so the email came back to me again. I have tried to contact them in different way, but they never came back to me. I feel very sorry for the cats, dogs and rest of the pets that they said they help. Untrustable people, truspilot should have the option of minus to give the chance to leave a comment, but giving better rate of the services when it is just wrong... really wrong.
