Everything was absolutely great working with SalvageData. Speed of recovery, shipping, working with their team - all great. My drive was fully recovered (however that's a case by case scenario). The o... See more

I was working with an old Dell desktop
I was working with an old Dell desktop, OptiPlex 9020, when the system froze during a Windows update. Tried everything, even pulling the drive and connecting it externally. Nothing. Reached out to this recovery place. It took a little explaining (I’m not super technical), but they were patient and clear. Got back a folder with most of my projects, including one I thought I lost months ago. That was a surprise.

iphone 11 pro dropped in lake during a hike. phone itself was toast but they somehow got all the photos off it. took a while tho and i had to call twice to get updates. still photos came back.

we got hit with ransomware mid-week during payroll processing. salvage date was recommended by a friend in another office. they negotiated the unlock, but also helped us recover some stuff that wasn’t even supposed to be recoverable. honestly didn’t expect that.

I had a Toshiba laptop that suddenly froze and kept looping on restart. This company (don’t remember the name, found it on a Reddit thread) took care of it. They said the hdd was degraded but still managed to pull off most of my files. Took like two weeks total. Communication was a bit slow, but overall I got what I needed.
Look
Look, I don’t trust tech companies easily, but when my SSD disappeared from disk utility with no warning, these folks gave me a breakdown of what happened, explained the options clearly and provided all the work they did.
Clean
Clean, secure process. Server failed during payroll processing. We contacted SalvageData that afternoon, and they handled the RAID recovery with zero disruption to our records.

literally every photo gone from my SD card. I tried three different recovery tools and nothing worked. SalvageData pulled the entire gallery out!

The drive had been sitting dead for 4 years after a surge fried the power supply. I’d assumed it was just junk in a drawer forever, but got EVERY file back.
We needed to extract deleted records…
We needed to extract deleted records from a corrupted SQL database, and after multiple failed attempts internally, SalvageData stepped in. They reconstructed everything, including missing table entries from over a year ago. Extremely precise and well-documented work.
Everything was gone from my hard drive…
Everything was gone from my hard drive after a system update. These guys fixed it. Won’t pretend I understand how, but they did.
Solid communication
Solid communication, transparent pricing, and actual results. That’s rare these days.

formatted the wrong drive like an idiot. lost 3 years of work. salvagedata brought it back and i don’t even care what it cost, i can sleep again.

Sent them a completely dead SSD from my Dell XPS, fully expecting a “sorry, can’t do it” response, but instead I got a full file tree back and I still don’t know how they did it.

At first i thought the whole recovery industry was just smoke and mirrors tbh, but salvagedata made me eat my words.
Good Experience
Data deemed unrecoverable but I figured as much up front and only had to pay $40 to confirm for two 1TB SSDs and two-way shipping. Foolishly hard formatted one SSD and installed Win 11 over the other, all my own fault, Joseph stated up front they might well be unrecoverable but to me it was worth $40 to try. Joseph was great to talk to and work with, good communications on phone and online. Despite non-recoverable data, will recommend their services.
I have a 2tb Western Digital Passport…
I have a 2tb Western Digital Passport with a blinking light and clicking noise and it will not read. I explained this to salvage data and told them that it will not read and more than likely the read heads have been damaged. It was delivered to them and called the next day saying nothing could be recovered and did I want my drive to be sent back for $40. So I got it back. As far as I can tell they plugged it in, couldn't read anything and that was it! I told them that the read heads were not functioning! I could have used recovery software myself if the read heads were functioning! So I've now sent my drive to Fields Data and they are taking my drive apart and putting the platters in another drive to salvage the data which is what needed to be done. Don't waste your time with Salvage Data. Go straight to Fields.
Scam and liars
They wanted $4200 to get all the data off my hard drive. They stated it was damaged and they needed to do surgery to get all my data. $20 on Amazon for a docking station and I transfered everything in few hours. This company is an absolute scam and I hope their computers crash and they lose everything. Stay away from these crooks!

Customer service was very polite and they knew what they were talking about. They offer payment plans which is a huge plus considering how expensive drive repairs can be.
