Roadrunner Sports Rocks

More than a decade ago I went to the local RR store routinely in Seattle. It was great. But I am pretty much an ASICs guy for the most part and I began to frequent the ASICs outlet store near me before they closed it down.

About three years ago I started using RR online and also visited their stores here again. The service has been exceptional, the VIP program may or may not be for you but I finally decided to upgrade to their most expensive option because I use the company enough to purchase shoes for myself and family.

There were some bumps with being able to connect my rebate $ to may account but that got resolved. Shoes ordered online arrive as expected. If for some reason I don't like a shoe or the size isn't right, it's no big deal for me to return it at a local store. The good news is, I generally know exactly what I'm looking for whether it's for marathon running, workouts or walking. It's the best deal around where I live.

Skip Road Runner Sports and buy direct

I received a gift card for the Road Runner Sports in Laguna Hills. I attempted to purchase a pair of Hoka shoes. They had neither the size nor color of the shoes I wanted. Initially, the employee told me that Hoka does not make the size and color I wanted.
I ran a search on Hoka's website and found exactly what I wanted. I asked Alisha Mindon ,the store manager, to order the shoes I needed from Hoka and would pick them up from their store. She said I needed to take the shoes they had in stock or pick out something else to purchase. I explained to her that I only wanted the shoes that would fit me. I then asked her to return the money onto the CC that was used to purchase the gift certificate. She refused and said the owner, Andy Mindon, also would not return the money on to the CC even though they do not carry full product lines, and specifically the shoe I wanted. I bought direct from Hoka, saved money and shipping was free.

I love Road Runner Sports

I love Road Runner Sports. I am a recurring customer but had trouble using my Road Runner Sports online cash benefit. The customer service guidance was excellent and walked me through the process with ease. The product shipped quickly and well packaged. I recommend Road Runner to anyone shopping for athletic wear.

Road runner’s dream

You are a road runner’s dream. Paying 25% less on brand-new releases, a 90-day return policy, great customer service, and physical stores where you can actually get fitted properly—I honestly don’t know what more to ask for.

If you’re a runner, live in California, and are not a Platinum member of Road Runner Sports, you’re missing out big time.

But more than anything, I fell in love with running because of Road Runner Sports. I was dealing with major foot pain, and my podiatrist asked me to get properly fitted at Road Runner Sports and try their custom inserts.

That recommendation changed the game for me. The pain improved, my confidence grew, and running went from something I struggled with to something I genuinely love and look forward to.

20+ years a runner, 5 years a coach

After over twenty years as a runner--of 5K's to Marathons-- getting shoes from RRSports, I can say that I have been totally happy. Here are some examples:
I bought my mom shoes hoping she would get into serious walking. She didn't, but said she was going to return the shoes--many months after my giving them to her. RRS accepted them with no questions.
I had a running groups of 7-8 graders and I met them many times at the RRS store in CM, CA. The employees were great with the kids, and I was able to extend my VIP benefits to them! How much more awesome can it get!?
I have bought about 47 pairs of running shoes from RRS.
The date I am giving as the date of experience will be the approximate date or receiving my first pair of just-for-walking shoes. :-)

Road Runner Sports has an incredible…

Road Runner Sports has an incredible selection of running shoes (and associated gear) to choose from. Anytime that I need/want a new shoe, they have it! Every order that I have placed with R.R.S. has been shipped from their warehouse PRONTO. And it usually arrives in just 2-3 days. Incredibly quick! The VIP membership program is a bit of a 'stinker'. Read the fine print so that you know the rules! It's a great program . . . if you know how to 'work the system'. But it is a bit deceiving. (I also had problems getting my Rewards discount to appear/ be applied to my order. A simple phone call to HQ always settles the glitches that I have had with ordering on the website.). Their promise on returns is accurate. You can trust this store!

Beyond weird pickup experience

I ordered a pair of running shoes online as a Christmas present for pick up at a location nearby. The people at the store gave me grief repeatedly over ordering shoes for pickup there that came from a different store. Beyond weird. I wanted to give you RR my business, but I don’t need the aggravation. I asked the person to clarify what they meant multiple times and I got the same answer over and over... “You should not order shoes for pickup here unless we have them in stock at this store.” They expected me to drive to a store 20 miles away to avoid me picking the shoes up in my neighborhood store… makes no sense to me.

Great store in person or online.

I'm a runner and I have purchased all my running shoes from Road Runner Sports for over 20 years. They have a good selection and good description of all the shoes as well as quick delivery. Also, reviews by serious runners help to make my choices clearer. The membership program gets you free delivery and savings.

You have to buy a membership to get…the shaft

You have to buy a membership to get best pricing. That wouldn't be so bad but they don't offer free returns as a membership perk which is just wrong. If your order is lost it takes an unnecessarily excessive time to get a refund and you're told you need to call back in a week to check on it. They refuse to follow up with you via email about a lost package. You have to call back and wait on hold forever. Recording always says wait time 5 minutes. Ha-Ha. Wait time is never 5 minutes. 25 minutes, yes.

Excellent experience and shoe fitting…

Excellent experience and shoe fitting in Crystal City VA. Minnie was my fit expert and she was amazing and knowledgeable. I have back and feet issues and I need quality shoes and inserts, which I was able to find at Roadrunners. Minnie found me several walking shoes and after a lot of trials, I settled on the Hokas. Unfortunately, Minnie wasn’t able to order them, but she was able to find me a pair of Brooks trail shoes. She also fitted me with inserts. It was a great experience and I would recommend stopping in to see Minnie.

I had a really disappointing experience…

I had a really disappointing experience with Road Runner Sports, and I want to share it in case it helps other parents — especially those with children who have sensory sensitivities.

My son has autism and is very sensitive about the shoes he wears. We went to the Road Runner Sports store hoping to find something that would work for him, but they had very limited stock in his size. Waiting in-store was difficult, and my son struggled during the long wait. The manager was not helpful at all and just told us to order online.

I placed an online order first thing Friday morning. The representative told me the shoes would ship the same day from San Diego and arrive the next day (Saturday). That didn’t happen. When I called to ask what was going on, they said I would have had to pay an extra $14.95 for priority shipping — which I was never told during the original call. Three days have passed since I placed the order and I still have no idea when the shoes will arrive.

I also tried calling their customer service, and the representatives were rude and acted annoyed that I was calling. Instead of giving me a clear answer, she just said someone would get back to me within 48 hours — which is not being helpful at all.

For a company that markets itself as a top running store with great customer service, this experience was incredibly frustrating — and it caused extra stress for both me and my son. I hope Road Runner Sports takes situations like this more seriously in the future and trains their staff to be more understanding and transparent, especially when dealing with families with special needs.
