TAKING MONEY BY STEALTH !!!!!!!

TAKING MONEY BY STEALTH !!!!!!!
I was the victim of a scam 4 years ago. Since then I have insured 2 vehicles several times with no issues at all.
The RAC quoted me and then sent a letter saying they wanted more money as they said I had a claim against me on the CUE data base.
I Telephoned the RAC explaining that I was the victim of a scam and I had spoken to Direct Line who were my insurers then. They admitted that I was the victim of a scam and had ommited to remove the info from the data base. They said it would be removed in a couple of days. They suggested that the RAC check the CUE data base in a few days to see that it had been removed and prove that was telling the truth.
The RAC refused to check the data base again and I had to pay the extra or pay £25.00 to cancel the policy which hasn't even started yet.
I found their representative to be extremely unhelpful and cannot believe how they treat their customers.
I also have breakdown cover with the RAC and I will never renew either of my policies with them.

scam

Fully comp been insured 2 years running glass replacement needed due to cracked screen, they claim it takes 17 days to sourced and arranged a replacement, so I arranged it myself and as Aviva underwrite the policy I made sure with then the steps I needed to take, however Aviva are now apparently non English speaking agents predominantly french I’d say, 11 emails including my invoice and required details they are still stating they haven’t got the info needed, I even rung them and clarified the issue on the 2/10/19 and yet again I’ve got an email stating they have not received the info!! It’s now left me £248 out of pocket on top of my premium for the year because they just fanny you about! I will not be renewing with RAC or any insurers that are underwritten by AVIVA! Disgusted

complete lack customer of service

A motor cycle rider kept waiting 5 hours with wife on busy dual carriageway at night.
I experienced a puncture on my motor cycle at 18.30 one evening in September ,1 hour away from my home .
I was told a mechanic would attend in 1 hour.
Two hours later a phone call was received to tell us a recovery vehicle would be sent to take us home.
Three hours later the recovery vehicle arrived t 23.30
The vehicle then collected another motor cycle and delivered that person to his home ,eventually we arrived home at 0130 next day .
I then found that my motor cycle had been damaged whilst being strapped to the vehicle .
It took the RAC 6 weeks to respond to my complaint .
They have finally settled my claim as of 22nd December.
This company appears to have abandoned the whole concept of customer service.

Do not believe RAC car insurance with Cash back from Topcash back

I have purchased a RAC car insurance for my new car through Top cash back site as they were offering £68 cash back. It was therefore cheaper than other providers at that time.

Despite writing to cash back team many time, topcash back customer service now informed me that RAC refused to pay my cash back.

This review is not about Topcashback site, they are good and try their best to get cash back for customers.

RAC refused the cash back with no reason, in my opinion all they do is offer higher amount of cash back to attract customers and later does not pay and it will be then difficult for customers to cancel as the exit cost is expensive and it is an unnessary trouble.

I am regret about RAC as it is a very good reputed company but doing these type of cheap and unethical marketing strategies will somehow destroy the company's hard earn reputation.

As consumers we should always watch what options available and choose the reliable option to save money. I hope this review will help the customers.

Following my last review, In reply to Hannah..

Hannah when I first called I prewarned them that I was NOT with my vehicle obviously this information wasn't passed on, not my fault. In addition to this I have had no missed call to date I can show you a screenshot of missed/received calls. What a total mess, please don't lay blame at my doorstep it's all too easy to pass on the blame. Please employ more competent call handlers in future!!

The guy that did eventually turn up was really useful and he managed to get in touch with me, just saying ..

An unacceptable insurance premium hike

I came across the RAC Car insurance on the Go Compare website. Read all the usual blurb and decided to go with them. I tried to take out the insurance on line, but no luck. The site kept freezing. I phoned them (and nearly fell asleep with the preambles) Once through, I started giving my details etc. I informed them that I had breakdown cover with them. Ah! I had come through to sales and should have gone to customer services, I would be transferred. This is where it started to go wrong. I listened to the preambles once again (wife brings coffee to keep me awake) and I still ended back with sales. After much faffing, I got to customer services. Went through all the usual and came to the question, has your car been modified beyond standard. I declared an added scuff plate to the top of the rear bumper to protect the paint work when dragging things from the boot. This had to be put to their referral dept to see if it qualified for an increase in premium. On comes the music, more music and yet more music. 10 minutes and I was about to ring off when the operator came back and informed me that the referrals dept had gone home for the evening (it was 5:30pm!!) and could I phone back the following day. I refused and suggested they phoned me. Nope, they could not do outgoing calls. I insisted most 'emphatically' and the young lady phoned me at exactly the time I had specified. Here is the good bit. The day before, my premium would have been £205 before my declaration. It had now gone up to £290!!!! £85 increase for a plastic strip on the rear bumper and NO, I did not take out the policy. Be warned, given half a chance, these guys will nail you to the floor.

Terrible service

RAC I'm still waiting for my vehicle to be bought back to the Uk nearly a month after we broke down!!!!. We broke down in France on our way home. Put up in an auful hotel in the back of beyound nearly an hour from where we should have been. No hire cars were available so we had to travel by train a cross France with all our luggage and a small child. Don't breakdown at the wkend as everything is closed!!. Now we are home, I've had an email saying my vehicle will be bought back to the Uk on a certain date, it never arrived, 4 days later it wasn't here so I called RAC and they informed me it's still in France and not even left the garage!!! . Nearly a month later I have been promised calls back from managers and a date to when it will be back NOTHING. Constantly fobbed off and very frustrated!. I'm sick to death with it all.

11.5% increase....that'll not do nicely!

I've just renewed my RAC breakdown cover but after checking my direct debits I discovered they were trying to sneak an 11.5% increase despite the fact that in 6 years I've never needed to call them out. After a call I saved nearly £25 on their quote taking it down to an affordable £37.99. RAC are a bit like insurance companies because they reward loyalty by plucking a figure out of the air and hope the customer won't notice. I also told them I don't want marketing calls or texts, because there's nothing more annoying than insistent operators who try to up-sell at every opportunity. In my world NO means NO!

Appalling Customer Service - 1 star is too generous

Experiencing appalling service from the RAC? Their customer service department may fob you off with excuses and try to deny you your rights. They may also try to ignore you and drag everything out as long as possible. They don’t even follow their own complaints process. That was my experience in dealing with the RAC. My advice to you is, don’t stand for it. If they subject you too poor service, the law is usually on your side. I persisted and got refunded over £400 using legal avenues open to many. Perhaps they would like to compensate me now for wasting so much of my time? I won’t hold my breath. The so-called customer service executives are simply ignorant and could benefit from further training, especially a certain “Mrs Mandy Love” that I had the misfortune of dealing with. Take no nonsense from them and warn everyone you know to steer clear if you have had a bad experience with them. If enough of us speak out, they may even take notice.
“Customer Service” -there is a clue in the name.

Contrary to what the RAC replied, I was not "compensated". Instead, I received a refund. I was told by Mrs Mandy Love that the RAC does not pay compensation. Perhaps you would lie to arrange compensation for all the time that she and the RAC wasted of mine and the distress caused to my family! I guess that you won't. Go on, prove me wrong.

Dreadful experience the first and only time I have used RAC

I called out the RAC for the first time in my membership, it took me at least 5 mins to get through to them, then was told the wait would be 1 ½ hours to 4 hours! Unacceptable in my view
I am now with Green Flag, with you within 1 hour or a £10 refund, much better professional service

Been with 35 years, why ? had terrible problems recently

My recent experience has been terrible problems with eurocover, customer support are arrogant. took out a 5 day cover for a trip on my motorbike, found out they only cover one call out, although i have never needed to use my cover...i need to know i am covered for all events like a breakdown and puncture. I have cancelled my policy, After checking all other companies cover multiple call outs. I will not be renewing my yearly uk cover next year.

Refused To Help

25 years with the RAC and when in need they refused to come and help. Blue badge and registered Disabled. Radio went out in my car and at the same time lights went out on my caravan. So obvious it was a fuse had blown in the box in my glove compartment. As I was unable to change it, I called the RAC for help. Point blank refused to assist. Told me to drive to my local garage. Great towing with no lights or indicators. Very poor service from the RAC. i have the full package with them as well.

Dreadful

2 cases....
My daughter and her family broke down at Exeter on their way home from holiday.... the RAC were called and the engineer could not fix the fault and would not relay the car home to Hampshire saying "it would cost the RAC too much". He wanted to take the car to a garage in Exeter to be repaired she said she could not afford to pay for it when it was repaired, his reply phone a member of your family and ask them to pay, she was not happy to have just 1 estimate and asked for a couple. He took the car away, they were on an industrial estate..... a few hours later when it was repaired he took the car back to her and her family..... the charge £165 which he said he would invoice her for.
A few days later she went to the garage she would have used at home and asked them for an estimate of the cost for the repair , it was £40 less..... needless to say she is not a member of the RAC any more.....

2....
I also a number of weeks ago had (unknown to me a broken thermostat which packed up while driving ... the car overheated started to steam,I pulled over and phoned the RAC.... along came the RAC man, I told him what had happened and that I knew there was water in it when I left home a few hours before, could he help.. he looked under the bonnet with a torch and said he would follow me to my garage - 9 and a half miles away, through country lanes, he questioned why I had pulled over off the road half on to the pavement, I told him I was worried about the car steaming and it was overheating. He filled up my coolant which was empty and off we went. By the time I got to the garage - 20 minutes driving slowly--- the guy in the garage was astonished that the RAC man had let me drive - there was no water in my car and the needle was in the red, when he checked - straight away he said the thermostat had gone and the car should not have been driven that distance as the head gasket could have gone.
I took this up with the RAC customer service and received a letter informing me that the patrolman had said it was a small leak in the coolant hose, it was 5 miles from my garage so there was no need for it to be relayed or towed, the case was closed. There was no answers to my questions and the actual facts of what had happend... only the patrolmans version of events.
In their terms and conditions it states that "if we are unable to permanently repair the vehicle at the roadside, we will decide, BASED ON OUR TECHNICAL EXPERTISE IN BREAKDOWN SITUATIONS either to provide a temporary repair to the broken down vehicle
at the roadside or transport the broken down vehicle to a destination chosen by you within 10 miles of the breakdown as measured by us.I am assuming in this case filling the car up was a temporary repair! ?
I have cancelled my membership - which is not the worth the paper it is printed on and very expensive and I will go elsewhere for service... I do not wish to risk my car being wrongly diagnosed if I should need to call them again and find I have the same patrolman with his "TECHNICAL EXPERTISE".

would not renew my membership again even if it was free

my husband broke down less than 10 miles from home at 2pm one saturday afternoon in a 1965 classic car after many phone calls on a busy main road where the traffic noise made it impossible to hear anything and in the baking heat with no drinks or toilet facilities he was finally returned home at 6pm sun burnt and very angry we will never use the rac again.
