We recently built a log cabin in our garden which happened to come with Protek Royal Exterior, a product I have never used before.

I was so impressed with the quality of the product it prompted me to paint the walls and ceiling of the shower room in my ageing motorhome and has transformed (and modernised) it enabling me to achieve an almost factory finish.

I am also very impressed with the range of colours available and will now only use Protek products for future projects.

I'm so delighted with my purchase of Protek fence stain that I had to submit a review on here. First of all, the speed of delivery was amazing, and then there was the packaging. I have never received a parcel that had been put together with so much care and attention to detail. It would have been virtually impossible to damage the item inside, as it was so securly packed.

Then came the moment of truth when I prepared to go out and start my fences. At 69 years of age, I was a bit dubious as to how easy I would find applying the stain, but it was so smooth to apply, that I spent over four hours doing it and nearly finished the tin. The result is absolutely stunning. I am SO delighted with the improvement from how the original fencing looked, to what it looks like now.

I am so impressed that I have placed another order for another 5lt tin of stain so I can finish the remaining fences. May I also say that in comparison to the high street brands, this stain is great value for money. I have absolutely no hesitation in unreservedly recommending this company and this product to you.

I ordered 5x 5ltr tins of Shed & Fence stain on 9th June and expected delivery within a few days, however on the 11th I was advised it was being returned to sender as another product had leaked and spilt onto the outer boxes in the van.
Protek then sent out a replacement order, I called them on 13th chasing the delivery and was told it was delayed not due to the courier service but due to my location (Ayrshire)!!
I then received 3x tins of the wrong colour (2 of which were damaged and leaked in transit) followed a few days later with the remaining 2x tins. When I called to complain they admitted it was their fault, and they had re-ordered the wrong colour. They then send a further 5x tins out which I eventually received on 19th June (correct colour this time) and uplifted the 5x tins of wrong colour (surprisingly, this was delivered back to Protek and received by them the next day!!!). My order took 10 days in total to arrive from date of order.
Unfortunately, with the delays I've had to hire and pay someone to apply the stain for me as I've had to go back to work (abroad).
Anyone ordering, please take into account the extremely poor, lengthy & unreliable delivery service as well as poor handling of product (they use APC Overnight) and the poor customer service in dealing/handling my order.
I just hope after all this, the product was worth the wait!!

Great company! Very responsive and helpful with advice (thank you Becky!). I’ve contacted with a couple of queries and each time have had quick response with lots of information that I needed.
I’ve used the sample colours on my fence and it’s easy to apply and each one looks lovely, showing the natural wood through or, with more coats, a deeper colour.
Recommend this company and their paints.

I had a delivery of two ‘shed and fence’ 5 litres. Both were damaged in transit and had leaked. I informed Protek who initially responded straight away with a request for photos, which I sent by return. Over a month later and nothing, so my customer experience is very poor, the product is good though.

After a reply from Becky at Protek apologising for the delay in resolving this, I am pleased to say that the company have replaced the damaged containers.

Absolutely wonderful paint, which is a dream to use, has great coverage, and is easy to clean off brushes; but also Protek have fantastic customer service! The team are absolutely lovely, and could not have been more helpful.

Cannot recommend these guys enough - amazing paint, and amazing people - what more could you want?! I shall be back!!

As well as being a company that provides great customer service with any queries that I’ve had. I find the Royal Exterior is a really good quality paint that I use on my bee Hives, and it’s by far the best paint I have ever used on my bee Hives too. Some of my hives are now 10 years old, and after 2 or 3 coats of the Royal Exterior. The Hives have been rejuvenated and now look great 👍

We ordered a dunster house log cabin and this brand of paint was recommended by the the company. We ordered the royal exterior in oak colour formthe cabin colour and gunmetal grey for the windows and doors. The royal exterior paint was excellent to use and the finish was awesome. The normal coloured wood stain wasn't the best though. Love the fact it's water based and good for the environment, but using it on doors and windows has proved a bit of an issue. Even with long drying times between coats, the doors and windows all stick and then peel the paint off. The rest is fine, as soon as pressure is applied to the paint from closing of the door and window, it doesn't like it. Never had a paint do that before after such a long drying time. But the colour is excellent. I'll do small touch ups and leave windows and door open overnight again and see what happens.

After four coats of Ronseal on my gate panel still wasn’t giving good coverage, I ordered a couple of trial pots of Protek's Royal Exterior Wood Finish.
Within the hour or testing the product I ordered 5 litres of my preferred colour and a few days later not only do I have an excellent finish on the gates but the summerhouse is looking fantastic with it’s makeover colour with a coating that looks prepared to take on the winter. What a fantastic product.

Excellent service and an excellent product, much appreciated in this day and age. Easy to apply, good coverage and, we felt, reasonably priced. Delivery by DX Express was swift and courteous. Thank-you.

Took my money, including next day delivery using DX (there's a joke in itself), 4 days, 2 emails later and I'm £20 down and none the wiser.

Why, if things go wrong, don't they answer emails?

I'm so glad I discovered this company. I was looking for a dark blue paint for my shed and Protek came up. The ladies on the phone were so helpful and the paint was perfect. I've only just had to go over it 3 years later. Now to this year. I contacted them again for help with my fence colour and best product of theirs to us. This company is so personable. I spoke to Kate and then Sue,who were so kind and helpful. I had samples sent to try but was looking for something darker,so I called back and spoke to Becky,who was so lovely and also really helpful. It was so nice to chat about options and we narrowed it down to 2. They are all so knowledgeable and passionate about what they do and i honestly wouldn't go anywhere else now. 😊 Kath Robbins
